"Taco Assembly" is a ghost kitchen at the Oakland Food Hall in East Oakland. It's menu offers DIY Taco kits, bowls, nachos, a variety of sides, and drinks. This restaurant/kitchen is similiar to another place called "The Taco Box." Taco Assembly is different in that it only offers one size of taco DIY kit. They try to offer proper portions so that an average person could make 12 small tacos. DoorDash Dashpass had a 40%-off promo (max $8) to try this new kitchen, so I placed an order for a Ground Beef Taco Kit.
The menu reads "1 pound of protein, 12 corn tortillas, mexican rice, chopped onions, cilantro, shredded cheese, salsa verde, limes." Yes, you get all that. They give you small tortillas, so you stretch the given ingredients. But it seems to be missing something, because the flavor is a little bland. Maybe it needs something like pico de gallo, or more spicy meat or rice. Also, the price is near $40. Good thing there was a promo discount! It might be good for a kid's party. But I won't order it again. read more
