Honestly, I'm not sure it lives up to the hype as much as I'd hoped. I know I've been here before and enjoyed the tacos, so maybe next time I'll focus on the more Mexican-forward portions of the menu. I've been to Cholita Linda's stand at the Sunday Temescal farmers market twice. Tacos de pescado: These were crunchy, flaky, nicely salted. I thought they were pretty good, I really liked the texture of the fish and overall flavor profile. Mango passionfruit agua fresca: This was quite good, sweet, fruity, I would recommend their agua fresca. Price is decent enough compared to how expensive drinks are getting nowadays. Tacos de tofu: They were good, and the tofu is firm but it is quite spicy. I was surprised since the pescado was not spicy. I think the fish tacos are better overall texture and flavor-wise especially as someone who can't handle more than a mild level of spice, but I appreciate that they actually did put some flavor into the tofu since it can tend to be plain as a protein otherwise. read more

I can't say enough about the catered Cholita Linda experience we had for my mother's 80th birthday. We had an outdoor party for my mom with about 60 or so guests and my mother was a little nervous about the whole thing. Once she did a tasting with Cholita Linda - fell in love with the food and met the matriarch, Vicki, and experienced the level of care and professionalism, she was sold. I was on site the day of to help coordinate the party and met Vicki, who came and worked the party herself (and was just beyond lovely), along with her amazing staff and everything we could possible need for a seamless dinner service. The food was outstanding and their whole operation was so clearly buttoned up, organized, and profoundly professional. I ordered for pickup and got there just after I received the text my food was ready (so, reasonably expected my food was ready!). I was told order wasn't really ready, had to wait for ten minutes while they assembled orders, my food was cold when finally handed over. The service people were just rude about it and the crowded waiting room full of DoorDash drivers impatiently pushing past is pretty crappy. My first time here and met some friends here for lunch. I was the first one here as I took ride share as I didn't want to hassle with parking. But my friends managed to find parking close by. I found some tables in the back patio and it is rather spacious so I put 3 tables together for 7 of us. The only thing is that the door to the patio is rather heavy to open. There is water with cups and some utensils available in the patio. You order near the front door and they give you a numbered buzzer but they don't use it as a buzzer but rather a server comes by to deliver your food. We ordered two orders of guacamole and chips to share as well as some sweet potato fries. One person ordered the Asado, another the Cubano, some fish tacos and I ordered the Pollo de Cholita which is not fried and it comes with either pinto or black beans, free range boneless chicken thighs, rice, organic salad and sweet potatoes. We came here on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty busy and a line out the door but their speed of service was on it! We ordered and got our food shortly after. I ordered three tacos: carnitas, asada, and fish. I would rate them in that order as well. I was disappointed by the fish taco and felt like over all for the price food was okay. My husband has the chicken chicharro. He enjoyed it. Our other friends got different sandwiches and tacos. I didn't get to take a pick of our actual food or the decor of the place which is really cute. It gave Puerto Rico vibes. We did get a couple aguas frescas and they were really good. Long time customer and we get take out roughly two times per month for the past couple years at Temescal. Tonight I asked for some to go sauces with our order. The employee didn't provide the number I asked for and after pointing out the mini cups were less than half full he indicated 'I can't give you more due to management'. Of course this seems like a small issue but when a regular customer spends $30 on food for two people and regularly tips on To Go orders it's a step too far. Cholita is now on hold for us while we try other options. Having un-empowered employees with management not in tune has been a severe disappointment. Dining dollars are under pressure and little things like this for regular customers make a difference. Please wake up and figure this out. read more
