I've been passing by Los Moles for years and never stopped in until we had a graduation dinner there for my niece. The main reason I never went before was the parking situation, which honestly can be a little challenging, but for this visit we found parking down the block and around the corner. The short walk after dinner ended up being nice anyway. We had reservations, although we did wait about 15 extra minutes while another party finished their meal. My family member pointed out they were enjoying drinks, so that probably added some time. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and clearly trying to get us seated as quickly as possible. Water was brought to the table right away, and our drink order was taken promptly. I ordered the chicken salad and was pleasantly surprised to learn the mango vinaigrette dressing did not contain oils, since I personally avoid seed oils. The salad was fresh and delicious. Some of my family members ordered the buffet, which looked incredible. At first it seemed like too much food for me that day, but once I saw everything included, I started thinking maybe I should have ordered it too since it was only about seven dollars more. They brought complimentary chips, guacamole, and salsa to the table, and everything was so flavorful. The guacamole was especially delicious, and they happily refilled the chips several times. I finally understood why the restaurant is called "Los Moles" because their mole sauces are outstanding. I got to try some from my son's plate, and it definitely made me want to come back and explore more of the different mole options. They also offer vegetarian choices, which is great. Although I am very particular about cooking surfaces, my food is cooked on and in, the Mexican coffee which was heated in some type of who knows what metal, had a good flavor. It inspired me to re-create it at home. Another standout for me was the freshly made corn tortillas served with the meals. They were soft, warm, and incredibly good. I was very disappointed in the three crispy fish tacos that I ordered through delivery. There was so much grease in the tacos and on the bottom of the carton. Fish and tortilla were super greasy. Graduation Lunch at Los Mikes in Emeryville today, a Mexican restaurant that offers a selection of mole sauces. They had a great selection, and we all got something different. All the plates look great, from birria tacos, burritos, enchiladas with mole sauce, and fajitas. They served chicken, shredded beef, carnitas, and carne asada. I had the enchiladas with mole sauce. It had a lot of flavor, but i wasn't fond of the mole sauce. The service was very nice, but he was pretty busy with other tables. Went here for AYCE Taco Tuesday and it was a pleasant experience. Surprisingly, there wasn't that long of a wait at around 7 PM. The price of an AYCE taco is very worth it. Some may say that the tacos are a bit bland/not the best they've had, BUT the price you're paying for unlimited, decent tacos?? WORTH. They have a sauces, limes and lemons, onions and a variety of other toppings. The staff were very friendly, always cleaning up our emptied plates as soon as we finish. We are new in the area and wanted dinner before heading to the brewery. We decided to give Los Moles a try and we are so happy we did. We started with the esquites which were juicy and sweet. I had the shredded chicken quesadilla with all the fixings and my husband had the wet burrito with habanero mole. Everything was delicious! I would recommend there all you can eat brunch only on Saturday's. My friend Kim said we have to go and try this place so we did. The options were fantastic and delicious. I am Mexican-American and I love Mexican food. The choices were so good I ended with a taster's plate of special dishes I like. They also had menudo and pozole but I was so focused on the moles and was not disappointed. They also had side dishes of rice and beans. Carnitas were also available. After two plates, I went back for some fruit to finish off the lunch and I was ready for my nap. I would definitely go back for the $25 cost per person for all you can eat. You can also order off the menu. No reservation needed but it was around 90% full when we arrived. There was plenty of street parking on 65th street and also offer outside tables as well. read more

You will want to try all of the fantastically tasty moles on your first outing, but you really have to pace yourself. Try 3 or 4 at the most. And then plan to return to try more. Each and every one is really great. Get there during happy hour for added music and drink deals. And get the buffet so you can try a selection of moles, with hand made tortillas and other sides. Los Moles is a great Mexican spot tucked away in a commercial part of Emeryville. They offer a variety of dishes: tacos, mole (of course), and interestingly, a $25 weekend buffet. Unfortunately, I wasn't hungry enough to justify going for the buffet. Instead, I ordered the beef fajitas (22), which consisted of a veritable pile of sizzling sliced meat, peppers, and red onions. Accompaniments included rice, beans, a classic trio of guacamole, salsa, and sour cream, plus flour tortillas. It was quite a mouthful, both to eat and to write down! I really enjoyed it - the meal was filling and well-balanced, each component quite flavorful on its own and even better when combined and wrapped up in a warm tortilla. We also got some chips and salsa (4, includes a red and a green salsa). Their chips are extraordinary; I am guessing they cut and fry them in-house. This meal hit all the spots. Next time, I'll make sure I'm properly famished so that I can take advantage of the buffet (most other people in the restaurant were doing it and it looked fantastic). read more

Arrived to this restaurant with a party of 10, the woman that sat us down, wasn't very polite didn't even say hello. Just asked how many we were and started walking away with menus in her hands. Naturally I assumed we were to follow her. As soon as I started to walk toward her, she turned around quickly stopped me and said hold on because I have to go get a table ready, but if she had said that before walking away, then I would've known not to follow her. We were seated quickly right after that. The restaurant wasn't really that busy. They did have a buffet option which, after walking the buffet, I decided to go with something off the menu rather than the buffet because of how it had looked like the food had just been sitting there all day.. We arrived about 8:30 in the evening, it had looked like the food was there all day. There were about five other tables of customer, I didn't see one person touch that buffet. I ordered the Chili Relleno dinner with the Mama Luisa mole sauce. OK so this was my first time ever at this restaurant so to my surprise when I receive my plate, my rice was green, which I had never seen before. Mind you I am Mexican so I am very familiar with Mexican food. When I had asked the waiter, why was the rice green his answer simply was "well you could've ordered regular Spanish rice" but how would I have known that if I had never been there before this, never was given that option at the time of placing my order, and the menu doesn't state that. I had to pay an additional five dollars for our Spanish rice because I did not like the green rice that came with my meal, instead of just exchanging it for me. Honestly, I don't understand the hype of the 30 ingredients mole sauce because to me it tasted and had the consistency of an Indian tikka masala. It may be because the owners of this restaurant are from a different part of Mexico, but I had never experienced this type of Mole sauce and I have traveled all over Mexico. I use way less ingredients than that and my mole is 10 times better than that one.. The worst part of the whole experience was toward the end when it was almost closing time there were two other tables, plus ours left when one of the waiters came over and started busting our table. I made a comment saying "oh not you trying to tell us to get out" in a very joking way and his response was "yeah that's the idea.".... Our whole table sat there for a quick second in disbelief that he had just made that extremely rude comment . I totally understand that they were closing, but there is a way of saying it's closing time because most restaurants would simply go over to a table and say, " hey is there anything else I can get for you guys because we're closing".. Small, hidden gem amidst businesses. Service was very friendly and efficient. We arrived on a Saturday so they had the buffet. For a table of four we had cocktails for each and buffet for three. The drinks and food were delicious! The buffet provided a great opportunity to explore the range of moles. One in our group had the cucumber-based margarita and said it was the best margarita she's ever had. For lunch one can choose a Mole that is paired with two enchiladas w/ your choice of seafood, organic shredded chicken, shredded beef, vegetables or cheese, choice of mole sauce, arroz verde, queso fresco, refried beans & sour cream.
