Usually, I get two quesadillas as sides but this time I asked for onion rings and fried okra. The sides were decent but the burger, oh yeah, it was on point. Hot, juicy, grilled deliciousness, and definitely messy. It's not something you want to eat while driving especially if you're wearing a white shirt. When I can, I like to try out a little of the local flavor, even if it is just a simple sandwich or meat and two place like this one. Pulling into Bennettsville, it had that small hometown feel, and I knew there had to be a good local place to have lunch. It being a Monday provided some obstacle, but we eventually found Southern Delights open and ready for business. When we arrived, it was nice to see a good local crowd enjoying them for lunch. Our server was buzzing around from table to table with haste, and was very nice, probably too over apologetic for any wait. She did a great job. There is a lot to enjoy here, plenty of country style cooking and an extensive sandwich menu. The prices are very reasonable. It's the kind of place that serves their community, not trying to be fancy, just good food and service! I decided to go with a club sandwich and onion rings, while my wife went for the reuben and fries. My club sandwich was good, and the onion rings were great. Perfectly crispy. The club had an ample amount of meat, though I'd have liked to have seen a different size bread. With the sandwich quartered, the basic sandwich slice white bread made the pieces a little unruly. Or maybe just cut it in half (though i know a club is traditionally quartered). My wife really enjoyed here reuben, cole slaw instead of kraut, and her fries were cooked perfectly. Generous portion on both the fries and onion rings which you love to see. Our tea was also spot on, just enough sweet to make a perfectly balanced half and half. Overall, is this place going to blow you away? No. But I am definitely giving it a 5 for knowing exactly what it is, and executing in a way you'll be happy with if you visit. If I ever pass through again and need a bite, I know where to go!

I came here October 6 , 2021 with one of my high school friends who now lives in Laurinburg and I live in Las Vegas , Nevada. We were driving around town and reliving those days of growing up in Bennettsville and going to school there. We graduated in 1985 , Green Gremlins ! This was my fathers favorite place to get a footlong chili dog with onions and I would always get a chocolate dipped ice cream cone. So , of course I had to honor his memory and get one. Well they were out of footlongs , so I got 2 regular chili dogs with no onions for me , but we did get onion rings and french fries. I have to say they are still the best chili dogs I've had and I have been all over the country and several countries while in the Army. If you were to can that chili sauce they would make a fortune ! They now have a dining area inside , but we ate outside at one of the picnic tables near the creek. When we were in high school everyone used to ride around Dairy Dream and hangout in the back parking lot, small town living. Back in the days they only had an outside window that you would order your food and pickup from. They had picnic tables outside or you could eat in your car. The selection of food is way more than when I was a kid too. I'm so glad to see they are still in business and a local favorite. So many things from our childhood have disappeared and only live in our memories. The sign is always up high and filled with uplifting bible quotes.

Neither of us had been to Stanton's, but we were aware of its reputation. We both had to drive 90 minutes to have lunch at Stanton's and I'm glad I made the drive. Since this was a long drive, I ate more than if the restaurant had been a quick drive. I tried their chopped BBQ and fried shrimp plate with slaw and baked beans as sides. Hush puppies were served with the plate. Topped off with a BBQ sandwich. For a beverage, I ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 tea. The tea was fantastic! For me, the regular sweet tea would have been a little too sweet. The BBQ was really, really good! They barbecue butts, as opposed to whole hog. The sides were solid, but not exceptional. The best side I tasted was the slaw and it was above average, while the beans were very average. The BBQ sandwich (a true test marker) with slaw - excellent. There were three people at our table and our total bill was only $52. The servers were excellent and about as nice as you could encounter. Just good southern hospitality. Lastly, the building/business is a South Carolina Certified Heritage Site. It's been around a long time and you feel you have stepped back in time. Stanton's has served a lot of people over the years. The restaurant looked to be built onto the home on the property. There is plenty of parking, and an airstrip across the street. People fly in almost every day to have lunch and we were fortunate to see an arrival by air while we were there. The next time I'm in the area, I will stop in for some BBQ!

I could not believe it because they are usually very conscientious and make sure you have refills and that you have your food....not on this visit. It was horrible! I actually walked up to the front twice to ask for refills and to order more food and never got that courtesy. Regardless, we will never walk through those doors again ever. They got the last of our money they will ever get.
