I ordered an individual pizza with cheese and three other toppings and a soft drink. The restaurant seemed clean, the menu offered a variety of pizzas, sandwiches and Mexican food. The service was good, the pizza tasted good but there was something about the crust that I didn't like. The outer edge of the crust seemed dense and crispy- almost like biting into a hard cracker. I prefer crust that has more chew to it so I would render my evaluation of this crust as below average. During my second visit I decided to try a sandwich instead of a pizza. The service and ambiance were the same as the first visit. The sandwich I ordered was a Philly Cheese steak sandwich with chips. The server brought the sandwich fairly quickly, however, the sandwich was definitely not what I expected. The sandwich was nothing more than a hotdog bun with about 2-3 thin slices of deli roast beef, with a single slice of cheese, a few pieces of green pepper and onions. After this dismal sandwich, I decided that I would not eat there again. It had been quite a few years since that last attempt, so I decided to give the restaurant another chance. A few nights ago my wife and I along with our two neighbors went there for dinner. My wife and I ordered a large "deluxe" pizza and soft drinks. She also ordered a small salad. Again the service and ambiance were good. The salad was below average- mostly made of the white core of the lettuce. The pizza tasted good and all the ingredients were fresh, but the crust was hard and crunchy. So for me the bottom line is if you want pizza that tastes okay but the crust is hard and crunchy then Hip Pocket Pizzaria is the place to go. I can't recommend the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich nor any of the Mexican dishes (haven't tried any)! There aren't many good restaurants in the Buffalo area to choose from, so I wonder if the local customers are just okay with the quality of food offered here?

Their rotating special was chimichurri steak which my mom got the quesadillas and so got the tacos. Both were wonderful! I also got a shrimp taco and the grilled fish taco. Another guest got a burrito and she said it was unbelievable. I don't remember all the different tacos our other guests got but the gator one was great, and the Nashville hot chicken ones were so good. Staff was very friendly and helpful, we were greeted by who I'm assuming was either management or the owner when we walked in and he gave us a rundown of how their menu worked.
