Taco Bell: hopefully you know it. If not, allow me to mansplain. Mansplaining (skip this): they're a giant company owned by an even more giant corporation (Yum Foods, which owns Pizza Hut, KFC, and others). They serve American fast food that's influenced by Mexican food. It's cheaper and generally more veg friendly than the other big chains. It's not inspiring food, yet I love it somehow. (Though if they had Del Taco here, I'd ditch Taco Bell.) Wicker Park location (service and ambiance): this Taco Bell is in a Chicago brick building, very nice. It's pretty clean inside and generally faster and better than other locations. The food has been consistently fresh at dinner time. Interestingly, besides not being in a standalone building, they have a window on the side where you can gawk at the employees making mass quantities of food, and they can likewise gawk at you wolfing down food or whatever brilliant things that you're doing. Neato! Ordering is easy. If you're looking for veg stuff, you can toggle a slider at the kiosk for stuff that's veggie only. If you're in a hurry to eat, you could do worse, and it might be tough to do better.

Some brilliant observer of human interactions will camp out at Taco Bell Cantina one night or over a series of nights and will use what they saw while there to write a book that will change humankind. Hopefully. The place itself is great, as long as you can find somewhere to sit and you're visiting at a point in your night where you're still up right. The late night option is more spectacle than substance, especially since it's still just Taco Bell food getting pumped out of the assembly line, but it's still a nice option to have, not only for the late night sustenance but also for the people watching. TBC will occasionally test out new Taco Bell items, which leads to the only heartbreaking part about the place. No one wants to learn that their new favorite Taco Bell creation has been discontinued...so you can imagine how bad it is to learn while slightly intoxicated that your new fave has been taken off the menu. It's not quite a tragedy, but it sure feels like it at the time. Unlike the uncertain return of the naked chicken chalupa and others...I definitely will return to TBC.

I ordered Taco Bell with my bf last night and we were missing drinks but also the MEAT?! This sad excuse for a taco was how they all were and our Gordita crunch was also heavily missing meat. Who eats tacos filled like this ?! Do they just not care seriously do not recommend this Taco Bell. Also judging by all the other reviews... Go to a different one!!!

I know people hate on Taco Bell but here's the thing... Taco Bell is healthier than ice cream sandwiched between donuts. Taco Bell is healthier than smoking five packs a day. Taco Bell is healthier than meth. and surprisingly... Taco Bell is healthier than just about every other fast food option out there! http://www.foodbeast.com/news/taco-bell-has-low-key-become-one-of-americas-healthiest-fast-food-chains/ Now that we have that out of the way, let's taco 'bout this location. Taco Bell Cantina in Wicker Park is all sorts of stupendous! They have all of the usual fare PLUS drinks. We're talking alcoholic beverages people. You can get one of seven slushies and add a single or double shot into it or go a bit more lowkey with a beer. Those slushies are sugar-filled and addicting, love them! Taco Bell Cantina has a much cooler vibe than other Taco Bells, clean beyond belief, fun seating and awesome murals from local artists plastering the walls. Plus the employees here are super duper friendly and accommodating. Taco Bell has this new item coming out on the 26th called the Naked Chicken Chalupa...it's awesome! The shell is chicken! Chicken is the shell! It's a protein beast! Just the right amount of heat but of course for you spice fanatics out there you can add some of their signature sauce to amp it up. Seriously people, this is my new favorite item at Taco Bell! My coworkers go to Taco Bell often for lunch and I always pass...but this...this is going to get me going with them! So in short, this is the best Taco Bell you'll ever encounter in your life! If you're in need of a fix, get your fix from this location!

Hey, It's Taco Bell. It'll never be a 5, but I think they know that. It's still darn good, though.

I've always dreamed of living within walking distance of a Taco Bell. Now that dream has become a reality. I still drive there of course.

They truly go above and beyond to make sure they deliver great customer service. They'll do little things like offer you a free taco of their Birria while you wait for your food. Go to any market in Mexico and they'll treat you the exact same. Unfortunately for them their original Southside location is closed due to a fire but they'll be back hopefully soon! My son and daughter both ordered their Birria Tacos, my wife ordered their Quesabirria tacos and I ordered their Tazon Chico of their carnaza Birria of course. It also came with a side of their handmade tortillas. Everything tasted so fresh and the Birria was very delicious. So much flavor in the consome. Ordering the tazon is definitely they way to go here because you get the meat in the consome. But if you wanted meat only, you have the option of ordering their plato instead. Regardless of what you order here, you won't go wrong. Enjoy!

So when I came across this location during my trip to Chicago, I decided to give it another chance. It's in a great location near the Magnificent Mile, making it an easy stop while exploring the area. I ordered the Fried Paneer taco and the Beer-Battered Cauliflower taco, and both were really good. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the flavors worked really well together. I also had to save room for the red velvet cake because I'd skipped it on my last visit. The slice was absolutely massive, I later found out it was over 1,000 calories! There was no way I could finish it, so I took most of it to go. It was incredibly rich, moist, and delicious, and definitely worth trying if you have a sweet tooth (or someone to share it with!). This visit completely changed my opinion of Velvet Taco, and I'm glad I decided to give it another shot.

The carne asada is simple with just steak and onions, but so good! The sauce and the cabbage on the crispy fish taco is really good too. I usually don't love a corn tortilla, but these tacos were so flavorful that the corn tortilla was perfect.I also had the watermelon agua fresca, and it was refreshing and not too sweet. One of the staff members, Chris, was such a vibe. He greeted us friendly and professional as soon as we walked and came over later to check on us, and chatted with me and my aunt.
