Then, when I finally got to the front of the line, the man told me I had to order from the kiosk. So I went to the kiosk and chose the "pay up front with cash" option. Then I went up front and tried to pay someone for it. They told me I had to wait. I waited another 30 minutes. Finally, I asked someone if my order was close to being ready. Pleasantly surprised by this weird combination of a Taco Bell and a normal non fast food Mexican restaurant in Wicker Park. If you were blindfolded and under 21, you would think you were at a normal suburban Taco Bell. That being said, the big differences between this Taco Bell and your suburban, non-Cantina Taco Bells are the atmosphere/decor and the boozy slushies. The food is the same. 100% the same of what you get at every TB. The interior is nicely decorated and has a more upscale feel. There is a boozy slushie machine where I think you can choose your alcohol (rum, tequila,vodka??) and they mix it with your slushie. Genius. The counter service we had was great. I want to start off this by saying that I LOVE taco bell. It has been a staple for my family since we were poor people growing up. You can easily sub beans in to make it vegetarian-friendly and honestly if your stomach can't handle the food then I feel bad for you sorry you're missing out. Now I don't come in here expecting a perfect order, especially in a location that also serves alcohol but I was pleasantly surprised when my entire order was doubled. Instead of 2 burritos, nachos, and a Mexican pizza, I received 4 burritos, 2 sets of nachos and 2 pizzas. I was truly as happy as can be. The staff are definetly overworked but I had always found them to be friendly and more than willing to fix any major errors they have made. A tall guy saw us walk in and shook his head as soon as he saw us and was frustrated, called us "fat hoes" for trying to order food 15 minutes before close. It's small, even for a Taco Bell, so there will be no huge parties or crazy late night drunken Taco Bell riots. There isn't even bar seating. There is one communal table that sits about 6, and 5 typical fast food booths. It's pretty nice inside, so it's a pleasant place to get Taco Bell in a great neighborhood. But it's nothing like a bar, it's pretty much a typical fast food restaurant, so it's not a comfortable place to meet with friends and drink an entire night away, just maybe some food and a drink before moving on to a bar.
