My Crunchwrap Supreme was burned. It was a fast drivethrough, but that certainly didn't make up for the food.

I got bean burritos, and unfortunately the beans were unbelievably dry. Like crumbly, falling out of the burrito dry. Pretty gross.

This last time was a challenge as my father is very picky and his dish was too spicy for him (actually quite flavorful, but not for him). Instead he just wanted coffee and cake. The server and manager tag-teamed and took care of the situation. He had an incredible tres-leches cake with a very tasty sweet coffee. When the bill came, no charge for the cake and coffee (I had his entree packet to go and thoroughly enjoyed it the next day). Always a joy to go there. Be mindful the atmosphere is lively and any birthday becomes a restaurant-wide celebration. Get the fish tacos or chicken enchiladas or go out with the molcajete.

The chimichangas had hot sauce poured ALL over and it was almost too spicy for my fiancée to eat. He got that before and didn't recall having all that hot sauce on it. My carne asada platter was not great. The steak was super over-cooked. It should've been taken off the grill like 8 minutes before. They could've give customers a bigger portion of rice. It's just upsetting how they treated a take-out order because it's not like we can return it. $48 for 2 meals that weren't great.

We're not positive all the staff spoke English, but ordering was easy enough by pointing at the menu. (Actually, on my last visit, didn't encounter any language issues.) When I'm at a Mexican restaurant, I usually go for tacos - here, I enjoyed four ($2.00/each), starting with the Tacos de Barbacoa (goat cooked slowly with special herbs), Tacos de Carnitas (fried pork, Michoacan-style), Tacos de Chorizo (spicy pork sausage - simply AWESOME), and ending with the Tacos de Cochinita Pibil (that's pork, baked and marinated Yucatan-style). With our meal, we received tasty chips and salsa, and warm peppers and onions in a bowl. Like straight up Mexican? Check them out! Unsure if they take credit cards, but am pretty sure they're not open Mondays and Tuesdays. Call to make sure.

Pictures of tacos looked good. So I decided to go. It's a little Mexican grocery store on a run down, but not horrible, residential block. Kitchen in the back of the grocery store. Very limited "menu" (no printed menu). They were offering 2 kinds of Mexican tacos the day I went - pork and beef. So I said, give me one of each. The lady making the tacos was very nice. She didn't mind that i obviously wasn't from the neighborhood. She brought the tacos to the table for me even. They looked very pretty on a colorful plate. They come with this green chile sauce that you can put on the tacos or eat like a gazpacho. I put it on the tacos. All of it tasted great. I would have liked to stay and order more tacos, but it was a work day and I had to rush off. 7 dollars for 2 tacos and a drink...can't beat that deal. I left a tip of course. I'd eat there again.

Wow, this really is hidden…read more When I drove up to the address, I thought the Yelp address was wrong since it looked more like a lot of a car workshop. However, the food cart out front and a sign, if you look way up on the building, indicated it was the correct location. The entrance to the store is on the side of the building and if you turn left immediately after entering, you will see a few yellow benches. All signs are in Spanish (a good sign) but the menu has English explanations as well. I started with a Ceviche tostada which had good acidity and a nice crunch from the tostada but the shrimp (and fish?) that was marinating in there had turned a bit tough. Overall still good and I recommend having it with one of the many hot sauces/salsas on the table. Next, I had to try the Lengua taco which was the star of the show by far - succulent, tender and juicy. Try this with the salsa rojo (red) which is nice and spicy. The Al Pastor taco, which is my way to benchmark taquerias was unfortunately not the best and the pork was a bit dry. The Jamaica I ordered was nice and refreshing. A bit sweet but refreshing nonetheless. While leaving, I picked up a few items from the grocery store and could not resist peeking my head into the food cart outside which I believe also belongs to the store. Elote!!!!! How could I not get one? Only $2 for a delicious ear of corn slathered in mayo, cojita cheese and sprinkled with chili lime. This could be a light meal in itself. Fresh Mango!! In a little refrigerated case just outside the food cart. They doused it with lime juice and sprinkled chili powder which took this to a whole new level. Reminded me of how they serve pineapple on the streets of India. Highly recommend trying it if you want an authentic experience but I have to say we are lucky these days to have some good Mexican options around (El Limon, Three Brothers, etc) so we have been a bit spoiled. Now, off to plan a trip to Mexico City for a true Taco run.
