I've been to this spot a couple time, tonight was disappointing. Food station area was messy, same with stove tops. Old food everywhere. Just dirty and unsanitary. While waiting in line, the food preparer scratched her mouth wearing their gloves then proceeded to make food in the same pair of gloves. I noticed their veggie fajitas were gone and when asked if they were making any, she said she could. They'd been emptied for a while and there was no proactive work to get more being made. Yet, they'd be made in dirty conditions. I was grossed out so I just ordered chips and queso. I will start off by saying that the first time I had this place I was in CT playing a show with my band and fell in love. I've had it now at MANY locations but stop at this one frequently due to it's close proximity to where my band practices. Everyone compares Moe's and Chipotle which is just plain wrong because Pancheros takes the cake! I'll start it off with the fact that Pancheros presses then grills each tortilla fresh which ends up creating a much tastier wrap than chipotle or Moe's could compare to. Whether you are getting tacos or a burrito your tortilla will be fresh and warm. Now ingredients. They have similar ones to both of these places but I genuinely enjoy their sauces and guacamole more. Still, choice of chicken, steak, or their tofusada (delicious spicy crumbles of flavor), rice, black or pinto beans, then a mix of peppers and onions, different sauces, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, queso, and sprinkle cheese. Side note on cross contamination! The employees seem to be great with cross contamination and I never feel sick like I can sometimes get with places like Moe's and ESPECIALLY Chipotle. Last three times I've eaten at chipotle I think they had cross contamination with their meat and made me super sick. (I haven't eaten chicken or red meat in over a decade and it does not react well with my stomach) Anyway! I divert from the main subject here! At the end they take two spoon like things and mix every ingredient together so the temperature and distribution of fillings and flavor are evenly distributed. THIS IS WHAT IS MISSING WITH ALL BURRITO PLACES. It is literally the best thing ever. Overall this chain is Great and I have yet to have a band experience. This is the third time in a row the portion size has been ridiculously small. The last time the employee gave me 1 mini scoop (a tablespoon) of chicken. I asked for a little more and he immediately said "that's extra". This time a different employee starts my salad off with enough lettuce to garnish a sandwich. I wish he had told me additional lettuce was extra, as (besides being hilarious) I would have walked out and enjoyed a decent lunch elsewhere. Unfortunately, he obliged. He continues to provide a toddlers worth of peppers, onions and cheese, and provided second helpings upon each of my exasperated requests. I've added a picture of this unusually large Pancheros salad pushed to one side of the bowl, which looks strikingly similar to half a chipotle salad. Three strikes you're out Pancho. Decided to try Pancheros out on a Tuesday evening and they were pretty empty. The setup is comparable to other fast Mexican places, where you choose the ingredients and they build your meal right in front of you. We both tried the burritos. I had mine made vegan, with rice, both types of beans, hot salsa, guac, and jalapeños. I was disappointed that guac was still extra, despite the fact that I opted out of ordering any meat in my burrito. My boyfriend had his with shredded meat. We both really enjoyed the taste compared to the competitors, but the burrito was also smaller sized. It left me a tiny bit less than the right amount of full, while at other fast Mexican places I often have some leftover for lunch the following day. I did really like that they mix the contents of your burrito before wrapping it though, so you don't get a mouthful of only guac on the first bite. All places should do this. They have hot sauces there as well. The green verde has great heat and is very tasty, while the red one has more heat but tastes entirely too vinegary and salty. Probably the best tasting hot sauces of any Mexican place I've been to. Unfortunately, chips aren't included with your meal, and come with an option of salsa, queso, or guac. The chips themselves aren't great, and the queso wasn't the best either. Overall, prices are what you'd expect, but they're the same whether you have a veggie or meat burrito, which makes it a little steep if you're eating vegan as you are essentially still "paying for the meat." I believe this also corresponds to the quesadilla and all other items. I'd eat here again if it were convenient, but I do prefer a competitor just because guac isn't extra on veggie burritos, chips are included with the meal, and the portion size is bigger. read more

This outpost of the mid-western Mexican chain Pancheros is good enough. It's clean, it's friendly, and it offers a quick Mexican meal at a decent price. To be honest, it's pretty much like a Chipotle or Qdoba. Recently I was at a friend's house in the neighborhood near to this Pancheros in Spring House Village. It was getting late and no one had eaten dinner so a quick trip to Pancheros was just the ticket. I selected a rice-based bowl saying yes to most possible additions. It was filling and tasty enough but it won't stay long in my memory. Still Pacheros executed exactly as was expected and I'll round up to four stars for that reason alone. read more

I got a free burrito coupon so I decided to try it out. It is similar to Chipotle. I liked the fresh pressed tortilla although by the time I got home, it was soggy and chewy. Guacamole is extra but same as chipotle. The portion size is smaller than chipotle. Usually I can only eat half a burrito from chipotle, here I ate the whole thing. I recently stopped to finally try this Panchero location and must say, I'm now kicking myself for having waited this long. First, to get it out of the way Panchero's won me over with the tool. The moment I realized the they were going to mix the ingredients of my burrito before wrapping it, thats when I realized they were going to raise the bar for me in terms of fast burrito joints in the area. So I too love this burrito mixing tool and it's definitely bumped this place up a bit for me. What really pushed this burrito joint to 5 stars for me is their staffing. Whoever did the hiring for this location did a wonderful job with the evening crew. They were a little lightly staffed, but the two employees who helped me were absolutely outstanding. They really couldn't have been more pleasant band accommodating. My wife and I tried most of their add on's in our burritos including the added cost guac and felt everything was on par or better than the local Chipotle. The wrapping of the burrito though was far superior, but that is split between the staff and the ingredients. Either way they have made a fan of me there as well. As far as price goes, I see a lot of complains about the veggie burrito pricing and that did burn my butt a little. That and the extra cost of the guacamole, but all in all they were price competitive with Chipotle for what felt to me like the exact same amount of food. Shameless and poorly done Chipotle clone. Effectively identical menu, but less appetizing looking ingredients and laughable portion sizes. I ordered a bowl and it had a huge mound of rice with 4-5 tiny little chunks of chicken in it. Unlike chipotle that is always slammed, especially around lunch time, it was dead inside. Of course this means the grills are off, the food has been sitting in the containers for ages, and was already showing signs of that wonderful crust and hardening. I'm rating Pancheros based on a combination of food, service, and atmosphere with fast casual expectations. This rating is strongly biased based on atmosphere. We have two young boys and find dining out challenging because we need to just grab our food, eat, and get moving before they get restless. We enjoy Chipotle but the nearby Chipotle is too loud, busy, and the food isn't really as good as it's popularity would imply. Also, at Chipotle there's typically a 15 - 20 minute wait amongst a line of teenagers screaming in lieu of conversing. Let's face it, Chipotle is a great place for teenagers to gather and there's nothing wrong with that. But what about a family of 4 with toddlers? In contrast, Pancheros never has a line, has little noise, and great food. I just had a burrito bowl with carnitas that was every bit as good if not better than the usual competitors. I'll admit the guacamole isn't as good as Chipotle's. I also prefer Chipotle's rice. But the rest that Pancheros has to offer is great. The meat, salsa, atmosphere, and service are better at Pancheros, and they load you up with food. I had a very generous helping of carnitas! Smother it all in sour cream, cheese, and salsa, who can even tell which one is better between Chipotle, Pancheros, and Qdoba. Moes isn't really in the conversation. I also see reviews where people complain about being charged extra for guacamole or chips. Doesn't Chipotle charge you for these items as well? Also, if you want to pick up, my order has always been ready on time and accurately prepared. If you have a family and want a pleasant fast casual experience, don't think twice about Pancheros. read more

I've eaten at this new location twice now (as well as the one in Mt Laurel, previously) and I have to say, the food is really not great. It's nice to have a fast-casual mission-style burrito place closer to Ambler (instead of driving to Willow Grove, Montgomeryville or Plymouth Meeting for Chipotle, or Warrington for Moes, or Jenkintown for Qdoba), but out of all the options for this type of food out there, this one is my least favorite. I took my husband there for the first time, wanting some quick burritos for dinner, and I told him up front it was my least favorite of the chains, because it doesn't really offer anything special. After trying his burrito, he agreed with me. Sure, they have queso, but it's bland. Qdoba offers at least two types, now. They have everything Chipotle has, but Chipotle has fresher ingredients/delicious guac. Moes has a ton of cool items, plus a salsa bar. Pancheros offers two house hot sauces, which are good (a chipotle and a verde), but that's honestly the most flavor you're getting. I even got the hot salsa and the fresh jalapenos on my burrito bowl and it was still one of the most unexciting burrito bowls I've had. Also, their chips are blue corn and not made in house - they taste like the bag of blue corn chips from Trader Joes. Their schtick is that they mix everything together so you get it all in one bite. Okay, except that leads to really muddled flavors. Sometimes that bite of MOSTLY guacamole or MOSTLY cheese is really delicious. They're really generous with the meat portion, though. read more
