3 stars now hear me out the food in my opinion is great. It's just that their was a huge soda spill that was on the floor in front of the soda machine. They also need to add more meat into their tacos. Which also ticked down another star. It was also a long wait although we were the only ones in line but I didn't take off a start because I saw they were understaffed and busy with people who were in the drive thru or waiting on their cars for the food, And they are quiet nice. However if they fix the amount of meat in their tacos and other problems this place will be better

Breakfast being served with lights off the entire time.

I got here at 7:07 am. No lights on and the air conditioner has just been turned on - very hot in July! Basically, dark and hot plus I'm only one here. Basically, nothing ready and haven't put things out like hot sauce or ketchup and they were out of ketchup anyway. I'm clearly first customer of the day and there is food in the floor from night before. Not recommended for breakfast. I don't usually review fast food as everyone knows what they serve, etc. I also mostly give 4-5 stars. As I'm leaving about 15 minutes later it's feeling a little cooler but lights are still off inside ... drove by at 8:15 am and lights are still off, parking lot has trash, worker smoking in front of entrance.

This is how my box came out of my bag. Crushed.

The building is nice and clean, inside and out. The landscaping outside is nice, too.

Hey KC foodies, come check out our charming town, join a community bike ride, wander through local…read moreboutiques and vintage shops, grab a massage at the Elms, party with us at a festival, enjoy a local craft beer at DC, buy some wine at WS or take in a winery, and then fill your belly with best Mexican food, made with all the heart of someone's little abuela using a mortar and pestle. The word Molcajete is Spanish for mortar and pestle and comes from the Aztec word meaning seasoning and bowl, these are tools traditionally made from volcanic rock. If you ask me, we've had a difficult time retaining restaurants in town but the really quality places stay, and leave an impression. Molcajete is one that people will come to Excelsior for, and hopefully enjoy our charming town in the process. This is more than just a new great restaurant, I'd like to think it's about joining the ranks of a few stand out establishments that are setting the tone for what Excelsior Springs is becoming, a destination for food, culture and tourism. Thank you for coming to Excelsior Springs!! This is one of the very best restaurants in this town! The salsa is better then most I've had in KC and I grew up in New Mexico. The food is fresh and delicious. It's better than any Mexican I've had recently and we always drive to Kearney for it. The people are NICE, the food is authentic, and please come give them try, it'll be your new favorite. Menu highlights: Taquiza- 4 street style tacos w chicken, steak, carnitas and chorizo. Tacos al pastor- 3 marinated pork tacos, this is some of the best al pastor around! Tacos de carne asada- 3 grilled chicken or steak tacos. All of the above LOADED w meat, cilantro and onions with tomatillo sauce on the side that's not for the common gringo. (You got this) Tacos Mexicanos under specialties, this is our favorite, loaded w steak and chorizo, cilantro and onions, I've not found a better street taco anywhere! Choripollo is the bomb with chirizo and chicken breast smothered in cheese with rice and beans. Another go to in my family. A friend of ours swears by the Molcajete Acapulco and de la abuela, it's fun to order and comes in the traditional molcajete bowl!

I've eaten there for years, but one of my recent stops made me realize it's more than just the food. Please read on.... An immigrant showed me friendship in food, even though I was a stranger. The place was packed and the only open table was where the workers sit. I was by myself, but one of the restaurant workers came up with her lunch and gestured to me if she could sit at the table. I smiled and said "Si." I noticed she was eating birria tacos with consomme and it looked delicious. She saw me and laughed, said something in Spanish which I think translated into "Would you like some birria and consomme?" I nodded yes and she went back to the kitchen and returned with a small container. You can tell from the video the broth was rich, the birria was tender and fatty (but in the best way)! I tried to convey to her it was great and thank you. She asked me something in Spanish and I could only respond in a gringo "Que'?" I finally used Google Translate and she was asking if I worked nearby. I was dressed in my blue collar clothes! I used the App to tell her I drove in from my part of town and she smiled and laughed. I think she understood how much I loved eating at Don Antonios, because I would drive at least 25 minutes to eat there. If she only knew I'm there every week! This experience reinforced what I already knew. Immigrants are kind and caring people. Just like my grandparents when they arrived in America before WWII. I also know what my family and I have experienced when you don't look like the majority.... Just my two cents and a tip of the hat to an immigrant who showed me friendship in food, even though I was a stranger.
