Being from Texas, I was very very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was here. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great drinks. Ask for the spicy house salsa. The stuff not on the menu. They'll know. The dish I had was the Tequila Special. Ate the whole thing before I even realized it. Taking off a star because the flour tortillas that come as a side were not good, but the ones for the tacos and quesadillas were so that was odd. Also, the guacamole needs much more salt and lime to balance it out. Would recommend for anyone needing Mexican in the area. read more

We were deciding where to eat after our sons baseball game in Warrensburg. This place was listed and the reviews looked good, better than anything in warrensburg. And they were correct! TJ's was a stop for me on the way to Knob Knoster State Park. Very good Mexican favorites and an extensive menu. I ordered the #9 which is a couple of tacos, beans and rice. The chips and salsa are tasty too. My server kept my drinks filled and checked on me occasionally. The dining room is big with tables and booths to choose from. This place is a little hidden gem. Good margarita and excellent service. The salsa is watery so we ordered a side of pico de gallo to dress it up. 5 for the Chicken Arranda; it's the best I've found in the area. Wow, this place was busy on a Saturday night. There really aren't many sit-down restaurant options in Knob Noster. We had a long wait for a mexican joint, but were feeling patient. He could have checked in us a little sooner as we were out of chips and I would have had another margarita during the wait, but I was feeling patient and forgiving that evening. I had Pollo Arandas which is like chicken and shrimp fajitas and it was so delicious I ate every bite and even used my chips to gather up all the left over sauce. He tried to take my plate twice as I was doing that and I had to jokingly tell him to "BACK OFF", which he thought was hilarious. Their chairs are a little awkward. The backs are too tall to be comfortable and tip over easily. This is a convenient place to stop as it is located right along 50 Highway. I recommend you stop in if you are headed through the area. It's been around for several years. This was my first trip, but I know I'll be back. read more

I was in town on business and everyone at the office raved about this place so we came here for lunch. First of all, it was hard to find because of the location being on a side street not accessible from the main road, but we got there with a lot of turns...and it doesn't look like a restaurant at all from the outside of the building (old warehouse or something)... anyway, I digress... I had the burrito and tamale lunch.... and it was not what I was expecting at all. After hearing all the raves about his place, I was a little disappointed. Mind you, the menu for the dinners looked awesome, but I never came back to try them... not too thrilled after the lunch... Anyway, my beef burrito was just that, a tortilla filled with ground beef... that's it... covered with sauce and cheese on the plate. The tamale.... oh the sad tamale... lets just say that its the first tamale I've ever had that was filled with ground beef.... REALLY??!! Hamburger in a tamale??? OK... whatever. I don't know what some of you guys are thinking when calling this place good food. I have eaten at this restaurant since it open and recently i came back here to eat after a 7 year hiatus. Upon my first visits i convinced myself that this restaurant was somewhat enjoyable however, I cannot give this place a higher rating. The food and the restaurant hasn't changed at all with the exception of adding some tacos and a pool hall addition. Which by the way makes no since. Also there is absolutely zero ventilation in this place so be prepared to walk out smelling of grease and the food. As far as the food the chicken it is always overcooked served at minimum portions compared to the vegetables and chewy. Next, the chips are stale and always greesy. This means a person will probably finish off at least 4 beverages just to finish the meal. The Mexican rice served with each plate is also overcooked bland and has very little flavor. The tortillas come in aluminum foil wrapping that drys them out making them stick to each other and crusty. Oh and you only get three whichnisnt enough to finish your food at all so you might as well pay the upcharge for more. Therefore to give this restaurant great reviews i.e. four stars is a big miscommunication. People in Knob only eat here cause it's convenient and it's really the only thing the town has going for it anymore. read more

Found this place thanks to Yelp and they did not disappoint. We got the Jalisco Fajitas for 2 and this dish had every meat you can think of! If you are a carnivore, you will find this dish very satisfying. The service was excellent and the food was a little on the pricier side however the amount of food you get for your money it's well worth the price! I will definitely be back! read more

Been here twice and both times the service isn't friendly at all. In fact, it almost comes across as rude. They ignore you and walk away while you're trying to ask them something mid-sentence, they speak quietly as if they're just super annoyed to wait on you, and they don't check on you for refills or if the food is to your liking. Granted, it is a Mexican restaurant next to highway 50 of Knob Noster. Their main source of customer traffic is Whiteman AFB, but yet they don't have a military discount. Most of the locals call this place TJs rather than by its full name. I would say it's by far the most popular restaurant in town. We go maybe once a month but there are plenty of people who go every week. Without a doubt the service is the best part. The servers are always friendly and they work really hard. Even though I don't consider myself a regular our servers always remember that we order a pitcher of Dos Equis. Unless you go with something individual like a tamale or taco you will likely bring part of your meal home. The portions are very large. Even with the portion sizes prices are very reasonable. I really enjoyed my time at this place. The staff was nice and food great. I'm from the west so I'm very excited to have a place that can remind me of home. Their menu has a lot of variety and they have no problems custom tailoring a dish just for you.
