INTRODUCING TACO 'BOUT IT
Walking down Strand Street Christiansted town to get to Crucian Gold and noticed this new establishment opened across the way
.
Taco 'Bout It is St. Croix's newest taco spot.
But it leans more into being a gourmet taco restaurant. Although there are other items on their menu, it's their tacos that are the highlights.
Their interior is huge and has plenty of group seating available and is also partitioned into 2 sections. There is also patio seating outside that is covered and there's additional seating at the bar.
Speaking of bar, they have a full bar that includes most cocktails, wines, some beer and they even have mamajuana.
I ordered their guava bbq chicken wings, along with some lemon pepper to test.
The lemon pepper was OK, but lacked a true lemon zing pop.
The guava flavor was pretty delicious and easily addictive. Unfortunately, the size of the wings were small and not worth the dollar price.
When I mentioned this to management, they explained that their regular wings ran out and these were substitute wings from another distributor. The next batch will be the bigger variety from their main distributor. This was a relief to hear!
I ended up ordering the taco platter to sample 4 taco flavors for $20 (basically $5 each).
They have flavors like Cubano, Spiced Pork, Burger, Brisket, Philly Cheesesteak, Chipotle BBQ Pork and then some Veggie options including the Rasta Chicken, Bang Bang Broccoli and Seafood Flavors like Hot Rocks and Fish & Chips.
The Cubano was legit and had good flavor, the Rasta Chicken was seasoned well, the Fish & Chips was crispy & super-flavorful and the Hot Rocks was my favorite with the shrimp in it.
I understand that they've just opened and they're working out the kinks in some of the menu, but I looks forward to seeing more from them.
Overall, this is a great spot for taco fanatics who want to try something different and unique. read more
