I was in the area and wanted something quick to eat so I stopped by Taco bus and ordered the El jefe steak burrito. The burrito was so large it had to be cut in half and placed in two separate to go containers. To my surprise I went in the middle of lunch rush and there were quite a few of people waiting for their food. I thought it would take a lot longer to get my order but it was pretty quick. The burrito was really good for a gas station restaurant. I didn't expect much considering this location is in a gas station but it was better than Taco Bell and better priced than chipotle. The empanadas had almost no filling or flavor. I ordered the steak bowl with refried beans and no rice. It came with black beans AND rice. My Husband's steak burrito was SOOOO greasy. I Loooooove Taco Bus' queso and that they have plenty of vegetarian and fish options as well. On this recent trip I tried the fish burrito which admittedly wasn't my favorite. It had blackening season from the description but it was grilled and wet, didn't achive the blackening I was expecting. The shrimp were cooked really well though, not underdone and not overdone and rubbery, just right. My husband had a beef burrito and said it was good. We had a lil hanguo w my Daughter's food that we took to go. When we were home we discovered that the beef quesadilla we ordered with just the beef and cabbage was taken literally and had no cheese. A bit confusing as that literally makes it not a quesadilla anymore. We added cheese at home for her but still annoying. Chips and queso were of course fantastic. I forgot to take photos. I stopped here on a whim after seeing one of the locations on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. It was just meh, nothing special. I can usually tell by the taste of the beans or rice if I'm going to like the food. The rice was crunchy and very dry at lunch time likeundercooked, or overheated. The beans have a very heavy seasoning of cumin, lacking any texture (like pureed baby food) and they are an orange brown color. Refried beans are not normally this Orange. They reminded me of something that comes out of a can, not something homemade and fried with lard. The burrito was huge. But I had only gotten 1/4 of the way through the burrito and had to massively huge chunks of gristle that were inedible. Meat was dry too. Would I return? Nope. Gotta get the beans and rice down for me to enjoy them. read more

This Taco Bus is permanently parked at a Shell station, but don't let the location fool you. This place is so good. And lots of great vegan options too! I am currently enjoying a butter nut squash taco and a vegan "steak" strip burrito. And being in a gas station, it is handy to grab a beer from the walk-in beer cave to go with your meal. IMPORTANT (read all) The owner of the gas store that is attached to this place does not believe and agree with the rules that we should be wearing a mask. We were eating peacefully (at a good social distance)and two men came in with no mask and no one said anything. The employees at taco bus are all wearing a mask and taking all the precautions they should but they are stuck with this gas store owner (because taco bus is part of the store) whom doesn't care if he or anyone else gets the C-Virus!! Taco Bus has finally made its way to Wesley Chapel. With this location being a franchise, I had some reservations that the food quality might not be on par with some of the other locations. One bite of my tofu burrito convinced me otherwise. It was the same chewy tofu, the same spicy red sauce and the same creamy guacamole. The only thing that seemed out of place was the pink tortilla (a breast cancer awareness tortilla I'd imagine). What I love about this location, and Taco Bus in general, is the amount of vegan/vegetarian options they offer. I noticed mushrooms, vegan strip steak and butternut squash as well as the aforementioned tofu as vegetarian fillings available (there were more too, I just cant remember what they were). They also offer vegan cheese. That is something that a lot of taco joints don't touch. So what's not to like about this location? Well, Taco Bus certainly isn't cheap. The wait can be long because, as of right now, there is only one register. There are some self serve kiosks that may alleviate some of the wait when they are up and running. The restaurant is part of a gas station and that limits some of the seating and, like some of the other locations, this one botched my to go order slightly (forgot my side of guac that I had to run back in and wait in line to get). Still, despite some drawbacks, I absolutely love that I can now visit a Taco Bus that is right down the street. read more

John LOVES Taco Bus- they have locations in St Pete and Tampa with outdoor seating. The St Pete one is a stationary food truck- and John frequently talks about how he misses going there. When I spotted this location as we were driving by- I didn't notice it was inside a gas station. So... not classy. Not that food truck are- but idk, gas stations are less so. We had to stop for a bite on our way to a concert- and our table was divided on verdict. I ordered a tostada and it was large- 2x the size I am used to and very good. I also ordered their pineapple water- the menu board called it a customer favorite- and I loved it. Wish I could've gotten refills of that! John got the dos tacos and said it was just ok. My sister got a burrito but the rice in it was overdone- she said like it had been the last of the rice cooking since the morning- crunchy, dried out. My mom didn't like the lettuce on her salad and had the rice problem too. The standard- meh~ could've been better fits this right. Shame- I was trying to cheer up John and it just landed flat. read more

I've heard great things about Taco Bus from locals and patients of mine....I am so sad to say I'm disappointed I almost didn't write this review because maybe it's just me. I ordered a chipotle chicken burrito with all the fixings and made it a combo for some chips and salsa. While waiting for my food, I watch 4 orders get messed up and the girl behind the counter was clearly flustered. This was evident when she slammed the wrong food into the garbage can. I felt bad for the gentleman working with her; he was fixing everyone's orders with a smile on his face. He was also the only one wearing a hair net....I found this odd because the female employee had a huge head of hair in a messy bun. Sure enough, we were missing our chips and salsa. Thankfully I checked our bag before exiting. As for the food: The chips and salsa were great! Great variety in the menu. The downside was my chicken tasted like it had salt dumped on it. The chips had less salt than the burrito. I couldn't finish my burrito because it was so bad...so good thing I went back & got our chips and salsa because that became my lunch. We took a chance on this because we were looking for authentic, and weren't sure how "authentic" BUT i gotta say, wherever your spectrum of authentic is, this place is the bomb. First of all, fantastic service. They gave us samples of the drinks & were soo helpful. Second, the queso was phenomenal. The homemade horchata was also a big hit. A glorified Chipotle basically. They skipped over my order so I stood by the counter to wait. By the time I knew which order was mine, it had been sitting for minutes. They do a really inconsistent job of using the buzzers to let u know when your food is ready, which leads to very awkward encounters with other customers at the counter who are also waiting for their food. That being said, the portions are nice and hearty and I could have easily had my burrito to last for two meals. Prices are about like Chipotle as well. I think this was officially my last time going to the taco bus. I think they have grown to the point that they just don't care about quality and service. My best friend and I, being new to the area decided to give Taco Bus a try instead of Taco Bell--we should've stuck with our gut! The food is DEPLORABLE, lacks seasoning, and EVERYTHING special qualities that makes a taco. I was open to trying to new things, but that evening shouldn't have been one of them. The two of the most misleading things about this place is: # 1 the smell (it may appear as if your tastebuds are is going to sing after you have a bite-- FALSE!!) and # 2 these comments that rave about how good this place is-- Ya'll need to stop lying! DO NOT get the agua frescas!! They will serve you DAYS OLD rotten juice. I am not kidding. I ordered a mango one and when I got home and took a sip it tasted and even smelled like old wine. If that wasn't bad enough I was asked by a friend if I'd been drinking and that was from a single sip. That means either one of two things: they're either purposefully using rotten or near-rotten fruit before it's considered "inedible" and just blending it up anyway, or they're purposefully leaving the same old batch out for DAYS. Absolutely disgusting. To top this all off they messed up my order entirely. I ordered 3 tacos with all toppings, specifically beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, jalapenos and guacamole. NONE of this was on the tacos. No sour cream, beans, rice, guac, or jalapenos. Just COLD meat with cold cheese/cabbage and tomatoes. How hard is it to make and not forget a simple order?
