I ordered a Six Bowl loaded with vegetables and spiced chickpeas. I sat down, took a look at my food, and noticed a small hair in the bowl. Normally, I'm fairly nonchalant about things like this, but as a pregnant customer, it immediately grossed me out. I let a team member know, expecting the concern to be handled with a little care and understanding. Instead, the manager came over, took the bowl, and--after I had already pointed out exactly where the hair was--stuck his finger into the food to look for it. He then removed something and placed it onto a napkin, only to tell me that he couldn't find the hair. The problem? I could literally see it on the napkin. At that point, it wasn't even about getting another bowl. He did offer to remake the food, which I appreciated, but the interaction left a really unpleasant impression. I felt as though my concern wasn't being taken seriously and, frankly, as though I wasn't believed. Fresh Kitchen promotes itself as being committed to providing healthy, fresh food, and that's exactly why food-safety concerns should be handled promptly and professionally--regardless of how small the issue may appear. If I'm spending nearly $17 on a bowl of vegetables, finding a hair or eyelash in it is not something I should have to debate or defend. The food itself? Still delicious. That's what makes this even more frustrating. I genuinely enjoy Fresh Kitchen and have supported this location for years. But great food can only carry an experience so far. Management matters. When they're firing on all cylinders the food from Capital Tacos is so good. Unfortunately I've experienced problems multiple times from here. I called recently because I was frustrated that twice in a row I had ordered the ground beast nachos and my order was incorrect. The order clearly states "black beans & NO mexican rice" but I received no black beans. I wasn't trying to get anything for free and just wanted to let the kitchen know they were making orders incorrectly. The black beans are a main reason why I get this dish so it's incredibly frustrating for this to keep happening. Everything seemed fine because the next two times I ordered it my order was correct. But once again the exact same thing happened to me: no black beans. The quality of the chips you get also varies wildly. Sometimes they're perfect and delicious but more than once I've received burnt chips that were awful. It's expensive to get delivery from here and I'm not going to do it any more but hopefully they can fix these issues for their other customers.
