This place is legit. Fresh, authentic Mexican food made with heart and high quality ingredients. We came for lunch and had a steak burrito and tacos that were delicious! The tortillas are handmade fresh and the food is clean and satisfying. We returned the next morning for breakfast and had the chilaquiles and chorizo breakfast burrito which were both incredible! The chef also brought out some grilled nopales (cactus) that were perfect! The prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend driving the extra 3 minutes outside of downtown to experience Cinco De Mayo! Soooo good! read more

Wasn't sure what to expect when we pulled up. A nice outdoor area but the main restaurant seemed tiny. Much like the Tardis, it is bigger on the inside! Interesting menu. OMG hands down this is the best mexican food I have EVER eaten! Most mexican restaurants are the same old same old and by and large taste the same. I happened to drive by it when we were vacationing in steamboat and the name caught my eye. After reading the reviews we decided to stop in. Be aware it is not some fancy restaurant it is probably what you would generally call a "hole in the wall" which it is but the food is to die for. Everything homemade including corn and flour tortillas, beans etc. I honestly would drive the 4-5 hrs to steamboat from where we live just to eat there again. First, the owner is so fast, friendly and aware of everyone's needs at once. I know places are having difficulties with staffing nowadays, but there was enough staff to serve a steady stream of traffic, and the breakfast burritos did not disappoint. This place has a chef who knows how to make flavor happen! We asked for salsa to go with our burritos, but honestly they tasted so damn good without it, I wasn't sure I wanted to change the taste. Mild is spicy enough for me, but the medium was just as tasty as the mild. Love this place! Will be back again and again. read more

I see a low rated review containing false and destructive information. While I cannot comment for certain on another patron's experience here, I wanted to add a review that challenges the veracity of the reviewer who stated that cooks were not wearing masks in an appropriate manner while cooking and that their "bare hands" were seen touching his food. Um, this is how your food gets made, sir. By someone else's bare hands. I'm not sure how the reviewer thought his food was being prepared in restaurants but uh, cooks don't wear gloves. They also sweat. Restaurant kitchens are extremely hot, ovens and stoves and fryers all firing and churning out food for diners consistently makes for one sweltering set up. If the reviewer thinks that these cooks are the only cooks who've ever sweated while busting their asses to make his food, he's dumber than he is boorish. I am appalled at the cavalier way in which some people use this medium to spout nonsense and arrogant idiocy, while simultaneously purposefully negatively impacting someone's livelihood. It's too bad people like the reviewer in question don't come with a sign on them notifying restaurant employees that a compete moron is walking through the door. To be clear, employees do wear masks, and use best practices in regard to public health and attention to safety. read more

Our awesome fly fishing guide recommended this. We always love local recommendations so we gave it a try. Not much of a place to look at, but don't let that fool you. We we pleasantly surprised. We're from Texas and know our Mexican food. This is not your typical Tex-Mex. The owner is cooking third generation recipes from his grand parents. Gotta try the Pork Confi Carnita Burrito. Wow! And the Enchiladas Michoacán's are really great as well. We will definitely do this again on a return trip. read more

The food was delicious, the kitchen is not completely opened and there are only two cooks; and they both do a great job at being hygienic. I do not think there is any risk of getting covid from their food because it is only 3 people who can access the kitchen. I would suggest trying the desserts, the flan is so creamy and good.
