I just moved to Foley from San Diego. I don't know if yall are aware... San Diego has fantastic Mexican food. Some would say even better than Mexico's (me I say that.) it's also a fairly known fact that even getting as far as Los Angeles, the Mexican food quality drops significantly. So you can imagine my hopes not being very high in coming to Alabama and receiving good Mexican food. After a good 20 minutes of deliberation, I looked at taco fiesta's menu and it is the most reminiscent of a San Diego taco shop. So I said let's give 'er a whirl. Imagine my utter shock and disbelief when I bit into the Carnitas burrito... flavorful, juicy, both red and green sauces packing an absolute home run with flavor and spice both. My man got the birria quesadilla and a couple of tacos. I also got the beans from my burrito on the side just in case.... Some of these states be having some weird ass beads. But no... Absolute perfection. I will be returning to this spot over and over and over again, my only ask is to put a fish taco on the menu and look into Machaca. This place was absolute HEAT. The food is surprisingly cheap compared to other spots these days. I got my steak/asada burrito for only about $10 ($11 with tax). The burrito is absolutely massive--loaded with steak, rice, cheese, beans, lettuce, and tomatoes. It even comes with salsa roja and verde. Personally, I preferred the roja. I've been missing Mexican Food I used to eat in the Bay Area in California and it was nice finding this place right on the side of the road, I got there around 9 p.m. and the line was long but the service was very fast. I tried barbacoa tacos and asada quesadilla. The taco was delicious and had enough meat with two tortillas, the quesadilla was tasty but it was salty, I'm not sure if is a combination of the carne asada and cheese that made it too salty pero "hasta a el mejor cocinero se le quema la sopa." These quesa birria tacos were delicious! We stopped in on a whim and were pleasantly surprise. Tacos were 3 for $14, so about $4.5 each but definitely worth it! The dipping sauce was so delicious, and the other topping sauces were good but very spicy. Restaurant is a little closed in/outside joint, fans going but we just ate in the car to escape the heat. They have picnic tables outside and tables inside too. Friendly man taking our order and food was cooked to order so took about 5-7 minutes. This was recommended by a friend and then, by the lunch line I saw while driving by one day. I had the carnitas & steak street tacos. They were served on corn tortillas. The meat was perfectly flavored and juicy. They provided the pico and sauce for me to add some extra heat if I wanted. Let me tell you, the green sauce didn't wait until it hit the back of your throat to kick. It started on the tip of my tongue and let me know it was there. I love hot stuff for a gringo, but this takes there quickly. From the looks of things, this little business had grown quickly and they had worked hard to build on so they could meet the growing demand. I love tacos! And I love stopping at the roadside taco places when I find them. They have a good variety of options on the menu but I was there for the tacos. We made a quick stop for lunch while taking a break from work. We both got three street tacos each. I got 1Asada, 1 Carnitas and 1 Campechana which is a mix of steak and chorizo. All three were delicious but my favorite is the Campechana. I'll get those again when we're back in town. I really wanted some Birria Tacos, but was disappointed that they didn't have them on the menu. The restaurant is a walk up counter service style place. The staff was friendly and helpful. Service was very quick. The place was fairly busy as it was the beginning of the lunch rush with most people taking their lunch break there with a constant flow of take away orders. They offer both inside and outside seating with the outside being picnic tables with umbrellas. I love the added touch of the garden surrounding the patio. The place was also clean and tidy. The tacos are delicious! I always enjoy the steak and chorizo street tacos. They stuff these things until they're spilling over! Service was good and the employees make ordering simple. The outdoor dining area is super cute with all the flowers and the little tables. The only thing I would suggest is, have someone weedeat the sitting area so it looks and feels even better. I had pretty high expectations for this place as the reviews were pretty good and it seemed like a nice little place to get some genuine Mexican food. Everything is a little overpriced for the the portion size and quality (I'm 75% sure the meat they used was frozen because of its texture and taste). The shack they serve the food in it really small, which isn't really a problem, but they use a super loud speaker system to announce orders (it's a robotic voice and quite overkill considering the size of the shack. We were also the only people in the shack at the time we ordered and they still used the speaker system which was odd). All the cashiers were also very shy and spoke very quietly to the point were nearly everyone in my party had to ask them multiple times to repeat things. Once again, that's not a make or break for a restaurant, but it was a little awkward. The food was alright and definitely matched the 2/5 rating of the rest of the restaurant. It didn't help that they didn't have half the things on their menu even though we came in at 11:00 AM for lunch. In conclusion, it's not that this place is an absolutely horrible restaurant. It's just overpriced for the quality and really isn't worth a visit. You could totally find other restaurants for half the price and twice the quality. I'd rather gone to Taco Bell even though I really don't like going to fast food places, but at the end of the day it's your decision, so have fun with it! read more

The tacos were fantastic! We were a little disappointed with the steak torta. There was very little meat on it. It felt like you were eating a mouthful of just bread. At $8 each, I'd hope to get a little more meat. Aldo they have fabulous salsas. However, after ordering 3 tortas and 8 tacos ($3 a taco) for our family we got a very small amount of salsa for what we bought. I highly recommend going to this place for tacos. But I hope on the future they'll be more generous (they seem kinda stingy) with portions on tortas and share some more salsa. Also there were tons of people coming to pick up to eat here. This family owned and operated roadside taco place opened in December 2020 and is their second location. Their first location is on AL-104 in Robertsdale. They are open Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 9 PM, and 11 AM to 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. On the menu you'll find Tacos, Burritos, Quesadillas, Tortas, and delicious looking Grilled Chicken Pollo Asado, both half and whole. They have sodas and my favorite Mexico's national soft drink Jarritos Tamarindo as well as other flavors. There's an off-street parking lot that can be accessed from Hwy 59 as well as street that runs behind it that you can access from E. Myrtle. There's covered high chair seats and tables out front and eight big open-air picnic tables with umbrellas as well. Of course they also they do takeout as well. You walk up, order and pay at the window and you get a number that is abmnnounce over a PA. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a effervescent young lady, Elizabeth, who welcomed me and was very helpful while making my choices and and told me about all the options, very nice. Elizabeth is a joy!! My taco Tuesday choices today were Taco Al Pastor, Carnitas and a Torta. Al Pastor interestingly was originally introduced to Mexican cuisine nearly a hundred years ago by Lebanese immigrants in Puebla, Mexico as a classic shawarma with lamb in pita but the Mexican version today is a pineapple I fused pork with seasoning like adobo and served on warm flour tortillas with chopped onion, cilantro and lime juice. The Baja versions I've had are slightly different and called taco de adobada. The carnitas are similarly constructed tacos but the filling is a slow roasted shredded pork and the flavors usually include chili's and cumin. My tacos came with fresh lines, radishes, a big grilled green onion with sides of both red and green hot sauces. Be advised, these look like a typical salsa but it's a very flavorful and spicy semi-hot sauce that kicks up the heat. I like hot stuff so I loaded up but if you like yours mild then they're plenty tasty without the sauces it with just a touch. These two tacos are commonly referred to by gringos as street tacos and I really enjoyed mine! My torta was the Milaneza De Pollo which is a Mexican sandwich. It might not seem like a Mexican dish, but it's actually a popular midday meal in a lot Mexico homes and you can be find 'em in most cafeteria-style restaurants. The Milaneza is a thinly pounded chicken cutlet coated in pan molido (breadcrumbs) and fried nice and brown and crispy, kinda similar to German wiener schnitzel. The chicken goes into a heated bun, smothered with grilled carmelized onions with some beans, avacado, chopped raw onion, lettuce and tomato and you can add the red or green hot sauce or like me both :-) It's a big tasty sandwich! My lunch experience was very enjoyable that took me back to some of the tastes I've had in Cabo San Lucas, Tijuana, Juarez, Cozumel and some Southwest Tex-Mex places. Bottom line: The friendly and professional owners here have Mexican origins and their food brings a authentic flare but they have incorporated some Tex-Mex flavors and presentation. It's fresh and cooked to order and they'll customize your food the way you like it. I highly recommend it!! read more

Food: This is probably the most authentic Mexican you will get in the area, I was pleasantly surprised! We tried this place out and I would actually come back again. The tortillas, if not made here, were made fairly recently because they were soft... almost too soft because mine kept breaking apart. But, I didn't really care because they were good. Carnitas, Carne Asada and Apollo Asada street tacos were all good. Onions/Cilantro and some lime juice, just the way they serve it in Mexicali. The only negative, in my opinion... I'm not crazy about using the salsa that has been sitting out for a while. I used it, but I would have preferred individual plastic cups or something like that... Atmosphere: Also sort of a downside, it's outdoor seating. However, this is ALSO pretty authentic Mexican style eating. You pull up to a window, order, then go sit outside-ish and eat. But in Foley, if it is humid, I would rather be inside. Price: Very affordable! Also like it is in Mexico (there are a LOT of similarities going on here...). 3$ per taco and they are decent sized, 3 is enough of a meal. Or if you want a burrito for $9 or a huge quesadilla for $8. Overall I'd say it's pretty reasonable. Service: No complaints, there was a long line but it moves pretty fast. The guy at the counter was in a good mood, seems to enjoy his job. Kudos dude! Overall: I'm from California, we have taco shops all over where I live (3 within walking distance of my house in fact!) so there are a lot of choices. First time here and everything was great! Started with the friendly employees taking orders. Great customer service and today that is so appreciated! We all ordered steak tacos.
