Coming to Foley after many years in Tucson, AZ we can say with confidence we KNOW good mexican food. We were pleasantly surprised by this quaint spot just of Miflin by the Glenlakes golf course. We dropped in for an early lunch and were both surprised AND overfed by the staff. They have daily lunch specials which we opted in for but the full menu is varied and offers many favorites we have enjoyed in the past. This day we opted in for the Taco Salad (spouse said it was one of the best she has had) and I went for the Tostada, enchilada (chicken) rice and beans. The volume of food was a 10, taste a 9 and the chips and salsa given to us at the front end were tops. No complaints, clean environment, great waitstaff, reasonable prices, nice menu options and a hidden gem for sure. If you are in the area, suggest you drop in and give the spot a try. It's really sad that I think our server is the reason we will never return. I seen all the other servers besides ours barely! I just seen a photo of others fajitas and mine came with itty bitty pieces of chicken and the peppers, onions and tomatoes were burned and soooooo small. I asked for shredded cheese and had to ask 4 times before I finally got some. And I asked for FLOUR tortillas FOUR times and kept getting corn instead and the first time she brought out the corn tortillas they were soggy from being cooked in so much oil and falling apart. I also got my beans and rice 10 minutes after I got the burned fajitas. We had to ask for chips any chance we got because she was not offering refills and not offering refills on drinks either. Been going there for three years and has been terrible the last four times we have been there . Today the food was so cold we didn't eat it and sent it back and never got a refill on our cokes. Tried to give them the benefit and kept going to see if it would get better and it's not ! Never going back and we live one mile away and will go To El Paso or any other Mexican besides this place . Just popped in here for lunch, my first time here, and I was very pleased with my discovery. As I often said, my experience is often influenced by a Mexican restaurant's chip and salsa and I  gotta say that theirs is top shelf. The salsa is the very best I've had in the whole area and the chips are spot on. Our server, Brenda, was attentive, friendly, and an absolute joy. BTW I'm not a big guacamole fan, but there's is really very good, and I got a big order to bring home to my son who is the big fan and he agrees.  I was very happy with burrito that had an excellent sauce, the beans were a little thin but well seasoned and the rice was fresh and good. All the veggies were vibrant and fresh and everything came out quickly, and hot. I tried my neighbor's taquitos and they were outstanding, and I will order them on my next trips.  I am looking forward to sampling their entire menu that looks great. Their traditional plates include ChimichangaEnchiladas, Tamales, , Chile Relleno, Arroz Con Pollo, Arroz Con Carne, Arroz Con Shrimp, and Arroz Texas with their specialties as Quesabirrias, Shrimp Alambres, Carne Asada, Chicken Ranchero, Carnitas, Torta Cubana, and the Macho Burger. Great service and food. We had queso, a steak burrito, chicken tamale and beef enchilada. Rice and beans were perfect and we left with lunch for tomorrow. Authentic and tex-Mex covered on the menu so there is something for everyone. Will definitely be back to try everything else! read more

Update: The owners contacted me about my experience and were extremely helpful and apologetic. Based off of other reviews my visit must be an anomaly and I'd be open to trying Machos again. Their customer service is top notch and they really seem to care about their customers. ---------------- The owners and employees are very nice, the restaurant is clean with an open feel to it, and the quality of the ingredients used can be seen. Unfortunately, things go down hill from there. Every item has the same seasoning on it and it's used in excess making it so you can't distinguish between each plate. The beans were cold and didn't have any seasoning, whereas the rice is overcooked and obliterated with their seasoning of choice which is also on every meat available. This was a disappointing experience after seeing high reviews. It was an expensive meal when you can't eat anything because it's over seasoned and highly salty. We ordered multiple meals and they all tasted the same because of the seasoning. They were over seasoned and extremely salty. And that's saying something because salt isn't something that normally bothers us. Ironically, there was no salt on the warm tortilla chips. We ordered the carne asada quesadilla plate, the arroz Texas plate, and the Al pastor street fries which were also drowning in raw onion and cilantro. read more

A surprise hidden gem with some authentic Mexican fare. Fairly new on the scene and a bit out of the way but we had lunch after a doctor visit in the area. Doesn't look like much outside and it is not just a taco bar. They have a full menu and it includes a lunch menu. They do serve margaritas but we opted to not have one for lunch. I had a #2 off the lunch menu which was a beef taco, tamale and enchilada for $8.50. Tamale was the best I've had in the area. Also ordered an Ala carte Chile relleno and a steak street taco which were both very good. Chips and great salsa to start it out with a bowl of queso. Yummo. Very festive and much bigger than it looks inside. Service was spot on and we have already started planning another visit for dinner. They close at 9. Way to go Macho Taco! read more

After looking for three years for an restaurant in and around the Foley area that provides an authentic Mexican meal, we finally found it at Macho Taco Bar & Grill. Being a pescatarian, having options is a deal breaker. Scanning the menu, I found the perfect lunch item. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla. It delivered!! My only complaint was that I ordered beans and rice and when the plate was put in front of me, I noticed the quesadilla was placed by the refried beans. This caused the quesadilla to be very messy when I attempted to eat it due to the beans juice soaking through the bottom side . But, the food, the guacamole we ordered , the fresh chips and salsa ( brought to the table in a small carafe with two container for each guest to fill) - all were delicious !! read more

Macho Taco Today I finally was able to give MACHO TACO a try. First things first, I went for chips and queso, but let me tell you about the salsa Oh my goodness it was so good, the limy salty flavor was addicting of course. I've never had restaurant salsa like that. I sat and ate my chips, queso and salsa, and enjoyed a large margarita, while the lunch crowd started. The atmosphere was nice fun and colorful. All of the waitstaff were very attentive and super nice. I ordered the lunch special chicken chimichanga, and another margarita ok yeah they were GOOD My lunch plate was bigger than I expected, I ate about half and had to take the rest home. We moved down here in March from Nashville and have not found any good, flavorful, authentic Mexican food until today! We discovered Macho taco bar and grill and are so glad we did. My wife had the steak fajitas and I had the macho quesadillas with steak. They were both wonderful the refried beans had flavor. The guacamole was wonderful. The salsa was good and spicy. We were excited to try this new place in Foley. Coming from southern CA, we have high standards. We were really impressed with everything! The presentation was a bit different than we are used to (taquitos were more folded tortillas than deep fried and burritos were served with queso on top) but the flavor was absolutely on par!!! Don't waste your time. Went there for lunch today. It took 5 minutes to get water, we were the only two in the place. Contrary to their web site, we were told there was no lunch menu. We ordered anyway. Big mistake. The chips were tasteless and the salsa was canned crushed tomatoes. Not good. We got chimichangas, one ground beef, one chicken. They were small and cheeseless. My beef one had a strange flavor and was way salty. My friends chicken turned out to be shredded beef. We left. read more

It is difficult to find good Mexican food in this area, but this little restaurant does a great job! My husband and I have eaten here several times in the couple months they have been open. They have great lunch specials that are very reasonably priced. The regular menu is good too. The service is ALWAYS good. The restaurant is unassuming on the exterior, a small place nestled in a shopping center. However, the interior is bright and comfortable, and everything (including the restroom) appears clean. They recently expanded the restaurant to add more tables, and it looks like they will be starting a happy hour as well as karaoke night. read more

I will say that we heard other tables being told about a lunch special but we weren't told that before we ordered, so I'm sure that lunch could be a lot cheaper. New place located right off of Co Rd 20 near entrance of Glen Lakes. Group of 10 of us went to have some dinner and drinks. Food and drinks were really good, food came out quickly to boot.
