The food was absolutely delicious! Everyone in our group ordered something different, including the #5 combo (with a chile relleno and taco), a burrito, enchiladas, a flauta, and a quesadilla. Every dish was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed a margarita on the rocks, while the others had tea and water. We also ordered the cheese dip, which was excellent. The complimentary salsa with the chips was some of the best I've ever had. It was more brown than red, and I wish I knew the secret ingredient that made it so incredibly flavorful! The service was outstanding--fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, so it doesn't have a lot of ambience, but the amazing food, excellent service, and reasonable prices more than make up for it. If people gave out medals for multitasking, Mezquite Mexican Grill's hostess/waitress/bartender would be a decorated war hero. Somehow this one woman was running the front door, taking orders, making drinks, delivering food and keeping everyone happy without a single table feeling ignored. Honestly, she deserves a life-size statue in the restaurant lobby. Now for the food: the Enchiladas Al Carbon with asada were absolutely outstanding. The steak was flavorful, tender, and piled on top of the enchiladas, and everything disappeared way too fast. Pair that with a couple of margaritas that were spot-on, and you've got a meal that makes your taste buds dance. The restaurant was also spotless. Everything from the dining room to the tables was incredibly clean and well-maintained. And then came the check. A full meal plus TWO margaritas for around $30? In today's economy, I thought there had to be a mistake. That's the kind of value you rarely find anymore. Great food, great drinks, incredible service, and prices that don't require a small loan. There are so many little Mexican restaurants in the area, but this is the one to go to. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I could tell that everything was being made fresh. The salsa had a wonderful smoky, chili flavor, the guacamole was fresh and I had to wait a little extra for the ceviche because it too was made fresh to order. This was my first visit, but we will be back. Now that the season is dying down, locals need to come support this place. It was excellent! read more

Do to the recent snowstorm in the area, the only local restaurant that was open was a little hidden gem by the name of El Mezquite! From the moment entering, the hostess and as it turns out, our server was polite, prompt and all ensuring we had a great experience. I ordered the two taco plate that came with rice and beans. I usually do not care for most Spanish ride but this one was off the charts! The meat in the tacos were seasoned with perfection. My date, ordered beef fajitas and he too was not disappointed! On our way out from the Tanger Outlets, we decided to try this place, and it was exactly what I needed. The vibe was welcoming, and I wish so badly I'd gotten the gentleman's name who helped us 10/10 service. You're seated with delicious, smoky homemade salsa that has an excellent, unique taste you just can't get enough of. The queso was runny, cheesy, and perfectly sticky. I ordered four street tacos with asada $3.50 each topped with fresh cilantro and onions. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I like to use a chip to scoop some of the queso into my tacos, which made them even better. Overall, the experience was exactly what I needed the perfect break from the beach and, with how expensive everything is around here, a perfect break for my wallet too. Went here with my son after I was searching for some authentic Mexican food. Don't let this unassuming little place fool you. The building may be small but the food is huge on flavor. I love street tacos so of course I had to try them out. I've had a lot of carne asada tacos and they usually get dried out but not these. I can honestly say that they were the most tender ones I've ever had. The salsa was amazing and so was the fresh made guacamole, not that purée stuff that some places bring out. Not spicy, but perfectly flavored. Steak fajitas: I'm 56 and these are the best I've had. Perfectly seasoned steak, soft corn tortillas, and nicely charred onions and peppers. Had a side of charred jalapeño and OH MY GOODNESS! Perfection! My wife had the chicken nachos, again, perfectly seasoned! The waitress was very polite and friendly. We have eaten at El Mezquite several times in the last few weeks. The location is super convenient for lunch and my carne aside is always outstanding. I hope they start making the charro beans once a week or something because I love charro beans.
