Every item was ordered at once and brought one at a time. The skirt steak was delicious. Pico de Gallo and green sauce (not spicy) was flavorful. Mayan Lime Soup was bland. The hard shell tacos were swimming in juice and smothered in sour cream when we order sour cream on the side. We speak a little Spanish, but have never struggled this much to communicate with staff. Ok seen reviews on this that said it was good so I had to try it!! 7pm and only one other couple here but we ordered two burritos and two ceviche's plus one 7up and three waters !! The food was ok but noticed alil pricey 80 plus dollars but ok no prob tourist prices !! Then the guy tells me I have to pay 10 percent tip I was like what? He said it again aggressively!! Actually I was gonna tip more but because of the attitude I told him there is no law that I have to pay you any tip! But since I was with my family I gave him that and left!! Smh!!! So delicious. The best steak tacos I have ever had. Literally. And an amazing location. Right on the Lagoon. My husband is not much of a taco eater. So he was able to have a delicious cheeseburger. Said it was the best cheeseburger he ever had. Can't wait to go back to Cancun. We will definitely be eating at Taco Grill. Oh.... And the Margaritas are amazing. Watch the scam! Take enough pesos to pay with. Credit card machine mysteriously doesn't get signal. US dollar price is conveniently higher than peso price. In Cancun, and you're a tourist walking through the shopping center looking for somewhere to eat. You are going to be accosted from all sides about tours and activities and places to eat. Just keep it moving to get to the place you want to go. "No, gracias." One night though, we didn't have a specific place in mind and succumbed to the barkers from Taco Grill. Because I wanted tacos! It didn't hurt that it was a spectacular night and Taco Grill has a great view of the harbor and sunset. We ordered a couple drinks to get us started. I ordered the fish tacos (red snapper and grouper). They were delicious! If you like seafood, say YES to these tacos. They are fabulous. The dining experience was friendly and comfortable and the food was tasty. It is worth walking past the other barkers to get some taco here and watch the sunset. read more

This is our fourth trip to Cancun and always make the Taco Grill one of our stops because we've had a good food in the past. Not this time. My husband and I ordered fajitas and I can honestly say they were the worst fajitas we've ever had. Anywhere. They came out ice cold. So we sent them back - which we rarely do. The waiter took them back to the kitchen and I think basically reheated them. They came back warm, but not the freshly made sizzling platter I was dreaming of. I'm not sure if they were leftovers from someone else's lunch or what. The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is that my mother ordered the fresh Fish of the Day (Grouper) which was excellent. I think I walked by every single restaurant in the complex before deciding on this place. Everyone around is aggressive trying to get you in. This probably wasn't the best choice, but I wasn't too hungry and wanted something small. I ordered veggie tacos, it's not really on the menu but they said they could make it for me so I was like ok. Great Mexican food and a great fit for vegetarian and vegan. If you want to enjoy perfect mexican food in Cancun, this is the place. It comes with a great view of the waters and the activities going on there. They had a separate section in menu with vegan and vegatarian items, which suits people like me. I ate the vegetarian shell tacos and it tasted local, flavorful, yummy and awesome!!!! The waiters here are always smiling, spoke clear english and kept you treated well. They did have a great drink menu of beers, cocktails, tequila and much more. Separate menu for kids, but I recommend to get the rice and beans plate for kids as its local food and highly nutritious. Good tacos! I got the shredded pork, and they were amazing! The spicy salsas are actually spicy too. I have a high tolerance for heat so mostly I don't believe restaurants when they say things are spicy. We were just in the area looking for food when we stopped here so it was just a spur of the moment thing. My sister got the fish tacos and really enjoyed them too. The restaurant has a good view of the harbor so we got to watch some other tourists doing things like jet packing and boating. Overall, a good place to grab a bite. read more

We really enjoyed Taco Grill! (Cancun Mx) Superb steak tacos with a nice char, Tasty El Pastor tacos with excellently seasoned pork and tasty pina (pineapple) Finally superb grilled or fried fish tacos with a light n crunchy panko (no greasy beer batter here!) complete with fresh cabbage, cucumber and a spicy ranch! Excellent and plentiful toppings. Great view as it sits on the water (lagoon side) with active boating/water craft) We've had tacos at many many places including many "authentic" Mexican restaurants and we feel Taco Grill does a fantastic job of delivering flavorful Taco selections with top notch ingredients (No meat thats been sitting in stagnant grease water like so many "authentic" Taco shops in the STL area) I so wish this place was near my home!! Noting some complained about how loud it was, part of this comes from the "open" nature of this restaurant and the adjoining restaurants next to it (ie again its an open air/outdoor environment for obvious reasons=its beautiful weather/scenery Cancun) there is only a 4ft tall wall separating the restaurant next door (who's name escapes me) and the local Hooters which has music playing) As far as "Americanized" I would have to disagree more like "Quality-ized" (LOL is that a word?... likely not!) as all ingredients are top notch and the owner,waiter,staff are all umm Mexican and too love the food! I came to this restaurant because I felt I would've been doing a Mexico a disservice if I didn't eat any Tacos during my time there. My friend and I came here during our shopping escapade in La Isla. Service here was fast and top notch, especially for a restaurant packed within a busy mall. The restaurant is right by the waterfront, and the weather in Cancun is always nice around this time of year. We ordered literally every type of taco they offered, especially since we were hungry. The only real comment I have that's not positive about the tacos is that the chicken tacos were dry. Furthermore, the chips they gave were a bit on the stale side, but the wide arrangement of sauces made up for it. For drinks, we ordered a Pina Colada and a Strawberry Margarita, both of which were decent. I personally prefer rum over tequila, but the strawberry margarita still did its job. Overall, not a bad restaurant, but there are many other options as well! Do give this a shot if you're in the shopping complex. read more

The vegetarian burrito was particularly good (way way better than what you usually get when you find a veggie burrito on a menu). This is the only choice for Mexican cuisine in a plaza that was very Americanized. I love the Mayan soup. It was really tasty and loved the hints of lime. The tacos were nothing special. I thought the little taco shop near my place was waaaaaaay better. Anyway, my husband's lobster taco was good (according to him since couldn't try it because I am allergic and sick at the time). This is a really fun place, with great Mexican fare. We stopped here every night for Don Julio and to enjoy the side bar's awesome Bartender, Angel Vazquez. Angel always went out his way to provide wonderful service. I do not like overly sweet Margaritas and Angel would make a fresh lime Margarita just for me! This restaurant exceeded our expectations. I had great grilled fish tacos and my husband had grilled grouper with French fries instead of the salad. His fish was some of the best we've had here. My husband and I just wanted something casual with a good view. This checked both boxes. Taco Grill is on the pier at the back of Isla Mall. You get your standard platter of salsa with every order. My husband and I both had the fajitas. This place is geared more to a Tex-Mex style of food than authentic Mexican. Beers were cold and the food was fine. The price was a little more than I would normally spend in the states, but pretty standard for the area. I think our total meal came to about 50 dollars. In fact, this is the only time I've seen hard shell tacos in Mexico, and I'm Mexican. As everything else in La Isla, prices are too high. Seriously a terrible experience. My family received their food and I didn't receive mine. I waited about ten minutes and then asked two people including my server when I would receive my food. I waited another 10 minutes. Still nothing. I had to ask a third time. I waited at least 30 minutes before I received my meal. No apologies. No one asked if our food was ok and getting refills seemed next to impossible. There are too many great restaurants close by to waste your time here. read more

Cute Mexican place overlooking the Lagoon. My party of 4 (including me) were browsing the area for a casual place to eat dinner, and then we stumbled across this cute open air restaurant. We all ordered chicken tacos. The beers and the bottled waters were cold. The tacos were pretty tasty, although the tortillas seemed bigger than what you get in the US. One of the servers gave us a platter of salsas, and to my surprise, the guacamole part of the salsa was the spiciest, and what looked like the spiciest salsa actually was the mildest of the salsas. The servers do speak English, but I spoke fluent Spanish the whole time I was in Cancun. Needless to say, I won their hearts. Overall a pretty good Mexican restaurant. read more
