I love taco johns. Perhaps this location was the very first one I tried many years ago. Today was first visit in easily ten years, since I was driving nearby and hungry. First time inside. What a mess. On first glance it's just a bit run down, but upon sitting and waiting for my order, it became evident that side work doesn't list high on TO DO list for workers. That means management doesn't do their job as well as they should. This is a high traffic freeway location and years ago when I traveled the route, I stopped 2-3 times week, so I know also it was a high volume location. Watching the drive thru today I see a good rotation. Clean it up inside, especially all the chair backs. One and all are extremely grimy, wiping tables is only one part of keeping the area looking presentable. Filthy back rests on every chair in sight means it's not been done in a long time, if ever. The burrito I ordered was great as was the salsa I self served for dipping. Higher attention to cleanliness means I add the missing two stars next time I stop in. And I already know I'll be driving this road at least once this coming week. read more

Taco Bell is like fine dining compared to this place! The location in Edgerton was terrible. The bathroom was dirty, the staff was minimal, and the wait was long. The meat in the soft tacos was awful. The place was packed, which is a mystery to me. That was the worst experience in a fast food restaurant that I've ever had....never again! read more

So, wtf is Taco John's? Taco Johns is West-Mex, what's the difference? I'm not really sure but I do know that they have their own way of serving up Mexican food. The restaurant itself kind of like TacoBell and I would think hits up the same target audience. They have their own little combos of whatever entree you order, potatoe ole's and a drink. The potatoe ole's are like Burger King's breakfast hashbrowns. Taco Johns also has a little salsa side bar with fresh tomatos, jalapenos, green and red salsa and hot sauce. On my way in, I had saw a sign of the burrito showdown. It involved the steak and rice burrito vs. the steak and potato burrito. Of course, I had to have both to see who was the top burrito. The steak and rice burrito was pretty good, though the rice was a bit undercooked, minor set back. However the steak and potato burrito failed to deliver. the food here was inedible. it was so disgusting we could not even bring ourselves to continue to eat the food. After my family and I ate the food, we got sick. Our stomachs weren't okay for days. I admit, I was hesitant to eat here because it's attached to a Shell gas station. I generally dislike any restaurant/chain located next to a gas station. Taco John's is fast food, but good fast food! The nachos were quite large and had healthy toppings of ground beef, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, and black olives. They even mixed in red and green chips for the holidays. The tacos were decent, as were the mexi-rolls (but those were a little greasy). Not a stellar lunch, but good for a quick, on-the-go meal. read more

Despite the fact it shares a building with a gas station the food is actually pretty great. I most of the food here tastes better than Taco Bell's and it doesn't give me a gut-wrenching stomach ache if I eat too much (looking at you Taco Bell). They offer potato Oles (gasp! A side!) unlike Taco Bell. The staff are good people and the place is always very clean. The only issue I have is that the food is just a bit too salty sometimes. read more

A great Taco Johns next to a gas station off 94 expressway. I had the stuffed burrito and it was way better than any kind you would get at Taco Bell. Every time I exit in Edgerton I make a stop here. Seriously, it's delicious. The place is always spotless (which tops my list for any fast food chain) and I've never had bad service here, knock on wood! The prices are good and they have a small dine in area if you don't want to eat on the run. I recommend this stop during your travels to fuel up your car and appetite. read more

I have always enjoyed Taco John's from time to time until I had consecutive bad experiences at this location. I know it's fast food and you can't expect it to be garden fresh but the ingredients do not seem to be maintained as well as they should be. Almost always the items are warm at best and poorly put together. I know longer crave, desire or think about Taco John's when contemplating where to eat. I always give the benefit of the doubt and never like to give a bad review, but it is necessary in this case. I hope the owner or management he attention to this site and end up making some changes. read more

The food here is good, but in the 2 years I have lived in Edgerton, I have yet to get what I ordered from the restaurant. Several times, I have walked into the restaurant to exchange my order for the correct order and have waited in line behind several other people waiting to do the same thing. Taco Johns would have a much higher rating if it hired a competant staff. read more
