Okay fast food taco joint with large seating area and drive thru. Appears to be an old Taco Bell location. Inside looks nice, employee working the front was friendly, food was ready within five minutes. They had a small bit of drive thru activity during our dinner visit, but inside was empty. Certainly not busy at all, but was decent food for about $10 per person for combos (I'd say similar to Taco Bell food quality, maybe a half tick below). The street taco trio combo with chicken was good, especially the sauce they use, just a bit small on the taco size. The taco bravo combo was just okay, as was the crispy beef taco; not a bad meal but nothing to rush back for. The side options are chips & nachos, which were nothing special and the chips seemed a little stale, or their potato oles, which are just round hash browns like you'd get at Chick-fil-a (no Tex-Mex flavor on them, just hash browns). Drinks are self service and they have Pepsi products, just like Taco Bell. Overall I'd call this place Taco Bell Jr, with food that's maybe a half step below TB's. read more

The lady who waited on us was friendly. We told her that we had specifically routed our drive home to Alabama in order to stop by and try their taco John's. My husband and I grew up in South Dakota with taco John's as a staple through high school and college. Every time we are able to stop at a taco John's we make a point to. So, we ordered our traditional potato ole with the nacho cheese and my husband always gets a taco burger and a taco bravo and I always get a combination burrito. I asked if they might add a few more onions and jalapeños to my combination burrito. They were happy to. Sat down to eat and excited to get a nostalgic meal that reminds us of home. The potato oles' were good and hot as they always are. Hubby's taco burger was a generous size. My combo burrito was truly M.I.A.! I opened it up and saw the jalapeños and some cheese melted into what looked and felt like a scant amount of filling. I had looked because I wondered if there was ANYTHING in my $4 burrito cuz it did not feel like it and my first bite proved to be nothing but tortilla. I pushed everything inside to one end and tore off a good part of the tortilla to try to bulk it up some and even reduced to half the size there was virtually nothing. . The taco bravo was on the slight side too and forgot the sour cream and tomatoes he asked to be added to it. Now we have to address food temperature. Your food really needs to be hotter. The inside of my "combo burrito" was cold-- possibly due to the chilled jalapeños and not enough meat or beans to counter the coldness but hubby said his was just warm too. Had there been any reasonable amount of actual filling in my combo we would have got another order of everything to go with us home and made a point to come back next time we travel north and back again. But we won't be back. We really wished this had not been a disappointment. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. We placed an order online and paid. Arrived and manager Javier said they didn't get the order. He copied the order off my phone and we waited for them to make it. Noticed food was missing and waited longer. We drove 40 minutes home only to discover they didn't even make the right order, which I should have checked more thoroughly. When my husband called to get a refund, Javier was extremely argumentative and would not resolve it for us. The incorrect tacos we did receive looked like the inside of a baby's diaper. This will be our first and last time ever eating Taco John's. Save your hard earned money and stay very far away. read more

First time eating at this particular Taco Johns. Excellent first impression. Cleanliness was better than most TJs and the service was outstanding! Very friendly and personable staff especially Nathan. Nathan is a great assets to TJs and he is so full of energy and super friendly!! Food was right on for the money in regards to the quality and the price. Good portions, food was fresh and hot and staff being to your table. I like the layout of this restaurant....provides a lot more seating. Will be back again when in the area and highly recommend to others! read more

Hadn't been here in a number of years, but when I moved back to Morristown I was excited for a super burrito. SUPER disappointed. Sat down and waited for way too long for the food to be ready (given there were only two of us). There were only a couple other folks in the dining room. Food finally arrived, it was cold. Furthermore either they've changed how they make the super burrito or they forgot some of the ingredients. On a positive note, the side order of potato oles' were hot and delicious. Also, the service was friendly as always. Not sure if they're short staffed, but I'll probably go back again and hope the food is better. read more

I got breakfast there this morning. The lady working is amazing and her happiness is contagious!

The staff is really nice but the food was awful. My burrito was cold to the point cheese wasn't even melted. The quesadilla taco was better but all you could taste was taco seasoning. They forgot part of our order and when I let them know they promptly forgot again to give us the items. At that point we were over it and just left. read more

I have passed by this restaurant in Morristown too many times to count while being in town on business and never stopped in, even though Mexican food is my preference. Today I drove by and decided to turn around and give them a try. My first time experience: I was greeted by a super friendly staff and asked for recommendations. After deciding on simple tacos and nacho chips with guacamole dip and a drink, the store manager overheard me say this was my first visit. Oh my surprise when he got my food. Not only did I get what I ordered, the manager gave me other items to try for free. What makes this even better, is the food is fantastic! I highly recommend stopping in and trying this place out. I can for lunch with a coworker of mine who could not stop raving about this place. She kept telling that it's like Taco Bell but waaaaaaay better. I have to give it to her, Taco Johns is pretty good. The food tasted similar to Taco Bell but they definitely had more options of ingredients to add to your burrito and foods. You can't go wrong with the Ole Potatoes, its cheesy, its meaty, and pretty cheap too. I honestly didn't knkw what to expect but all I have to say is, if you like Taco Bell then you will absolutely enjoy Taco Johns. read more

Cashier was very nice and helpful in suggesting favorites to us. The shift leader or manager on duty was not very helpful when the cashier pointed out a price discrepancy and responded with: "the price changed" and walked away. Which I understand can happen, but her attitude was as if she did not want to deal with it. Food was good and portions a good size. We no longer have Taco Johns in FL so to say I was excited to stumble upon this one is an under statement. Everything was great! The service was good and the food was great! As far as fast food goes, you won't find better tasting. The interior of this location is nice and recently updated. Staff and service quality varies depending on day and time you attend, but is usually decent - better than typical chains. Expect the occasional employee lingering outside, etc when it's slow, which is a bit off-putting for customers. Drive-thru is fairly fast, considering a lot of these items are not pre-made and waiting. I'd really like to give this location a "4", but I have a couple related issues. When you order the Olays (which let's face it, you pretty much have to) they will ask if you would like cheese with them. At no point do they mention it costs extra. For what it's worth, I've been going for years, so I know in advance it does. At one point it was $.25, and later it became $.40. So what's my issue you ask? Upon my last visit, it was $.89 for the one ounce cup of cheese sauce...basically a buck with tax. I realize this is simply a sleight of hand way to raise the meal price, but it's a little insuting to the customer. It's similar to when you buy a concert ticket and end up paying nearly double for nominal fees and delivery charges - it just makes you feel taken. Up until a few years ago, the Olays were lightly seasoned with that red pepperly looking stuff that often comes on french fries. It made them great...locally famous. I remember back in the day people would always mention Olays (as well as the Chaco Taco) when TJ's came up in conversation. At some point however, they abruptly stopped putting the seasoning on. I found this out the hard way one day when the drive-thru clerk fogot to add my cheese, and the resulting Olays were basically school lunch (unseasoned) tater tots. That was the first order I didn't finish. I've noticed since then that's been the case with every order. My guess is this was done stratigically by TJ's to sell more cheese. If you doubt this one bit, try an Olay without dipping it. I'm sure this helps the bottom line of this place over multiple locations, but is a bit dissapointing for those of us who grew up on TJ's. For what it's worth, I'd rate this place a solid 4 if they added the seasoning again - or reduced the cheese price. Do both and this place would be a 5. read more

My first time here and my last. I ordered the super burrito and it was the smallest burrito I've ever had. Taco bells one dollar burrito is a bigger one for sure! While I love Taco John's, I can no longer eat there. The staff is always rude or sloppy, the place seems dirty--with the exceptions of the mop that is always in constant motion. The fact that the same mop that cleans the bathrooms is swabbed around in the kitchen without a second rinse was one of the main reasons I stopped eating there, especially after two separate times when I witnessed different employees pitching a temper tantrum.
