I ate at Taco King for lunch once. I find it really odd for a place that prides itself on Mexican food is selling pizza as well. I mean shouldn't you be trying to focus on what you specialize in?! Truthfully that is forgivable if that was the biggest problem with this place. I had an enchilada plate and I can honest to god say with a straight face that it had absolutely no flavor at all. I seriously don't think these guys use any seasoning or spices in the meat! You couldn't give me enough hot sauce to bring the meal back to life. I stomached through the meal but I was far from satisfied! How do you call yourself Taco King when you can't even make Enchiladas properly?! I literally can get a better Mexican meal from Taco Bell! I heard about Taco King from some friends, and on their suggestion I tried it out. The appearance of the location had me somewhat skeptical, but once I went inside I knew that the food would be phenomenal. I ordered my food to go (at noon), and it ended up taking about 40 minutes (ordered 3 shredded chicken tacos). I asked an employee if it is better to call ahead, and she just shot me a dirty look instead of answering my question. Although I was less than thrilled with the service, and the employees were not particularly friendly, the food was totally worth the hype. Yesterday we decided to go get some tacos. We looked on Yelp in saw that Taco King had a whole bunch of good ratings. My buddy, my wife and I decided to go there for dinner. The tacos were great, the beef tongue tacos was amazing. My wife got the enchilada shrimp cocktail and she really enjoyed them. I enjoyed my platter too but at the end I realize that they messed up on my order. I ordered a Carne Asada platter with two additional taco but only got a three Taco platter so essentially I paid for two more tacos that I never received and I didn't notice until after the fact. read more

This place is seriously overrated. The food is mediocre at best and the service is crappy. My girlfriend ordered no tomatoes and when her tacos came back with tomatoes, she informed the owner, whose repose was "what do you want me to do about it???" I'll never return. You can get better food with good service at El Sol or even Neto Burrito. Most people rating highly are probably East Coasters with little experience with authentic Mexican. read more

The closest I can get to feeling like I'm back in Austin. These authentic tacos are cooked to perfection and just simple enough to make it awesome. The only thing I would change is that I wish the chicken had a teensy more flavor, but you can easily get that from the delicious plethora of salsas they give you! Toco King USED to be one of my favorites until my orders started to get inconsistent and bland. Another reason why it's getting two stars is because of the rude service and the owner telling me to "not come back if I didn't like it". they also have a 15 dollar credit card limit which is just a scam to make you buy buy a soda or side to get closer to their 15 dollar limit. read more

Dried out meat, would never come back. Tried them on a Saturday afternoon after reading yelp reviews. This is one place that is seriously overrated!! Ordered asada tacos platter, al pastor tacos platter and chicken tacos, the chicken was seriously dry, 1-2 day old, and unseasoned. Al pastor was tough/ overlooked, not very flavorful, asada was cooked fine, just boring. Rice was cold, just got out of fridge and thrown on my plate? Beans weren't anything to write home about. Wow!! I love this place!! It reminds me of where I grew up. For starters the tacos are amazing. They are served with a slice of lime and 2 sauces one red and one green. The red is hot and the green is mild. I ordered a taco plate and decided to get 3 different types of tacos. The al pastor was my favorite but the carne asada and the carnitas were both tasty. The rice and beans that came with my taco plate were PERFECT!! I also had a tamarind drink that was deliciousness in a cup. I can honestly only find one reason to take a star away. They were out of horchata. This made me sooo sad!! I spent the whole time looking at the little plastic drink dispenser thing wishing they would make more but instead they made a mango drink. If they had it I would have been in heaven. Instead I was just at the gate. If you are driving threw the area or even live in the area you need to stop in here and have a taco. Or two... My husband and I tried this place because of the other Yelp reviews shortly after relocating to Harrisburg, PA. Being originally from San Diego and knowing "real" Mexican food, we we longing for some carne asada tacos after living in the South for several years and being deprived of such. Well let me tell you, we found them at Taco King! The place is small, tables are plastic and decor is typical of Mexican taquerias in Southern Cali. We were home! We ordered carne asada tacos, a fish taco and a chicken taco. Home runs, all 3. Corn tortillas, well seasoned carne and chicken, cilantro and onion, just the way they are supposed to be! I've been working down the street from Taco King for two years now and for some reason I never tried it until today... which is insanity because I love Mexican food. I grabbed take-out during my lunch break and Boss Mike and Michael were super friendly. The chicken tacos were PHENOMENAL!! Small menu but very good. Small cozy whole in the wall that all foodies look for unlike the chains. Have eaten about half the menu without having a bad meal. I don't live far from Taco King and have gone numerous times for both lunch and dinner. It's nice to have an authentic taqueria practically in my back yard! The tacos, taco salad, quesadillas, burritos and fajitas are all very good. There are a lot of choices for meat fillings, including chicken, beef, pork and shrimp. For the more adventurous, they also have tongue, which I haven't tried yet, but plan to. I especially like the carne asada and the al pastor pork. There is a a nice selection of beverages in the cooler, including several Latin American fruit sodas and other Mexican drinks, as well as more standard American fare. Decor is -- well, there isn't any. That's not really the fault of the owners, as I doubt anyone could do better with this hole-in-the-wall. There were previously several other food establishments at this location. None were any nicer inside than Taco King. The good food will make you forget the plain surroundings, or you can just order for take out. The owners are from Mexico City and are very accommodating and helpful. read more

We ate dinner here and the inside was so cold that we kept our jackets on. The space heater just did not keep the place warm enough. The menu was quite extensive with a mix of Mexican and Italian offerings. We started with a shared large bowl of Chicken soup which was nice and hot and very tasty. Hot was the best part on this cold wintry night. I had the Chicken Taco Platter, consisting of three soft tacos and a serving of rice and beans. You could not pick up the tacos in your hand or they fell apart, so it was a cut and eat meal. It was ok, but I was expecting hard tacos instead of soft. and everything was just warm and not as hot as I would have liked. My husband chose the sausage quesadilla, He said it was ok, but nothing special. Our local "go to" place for Mexican food has always been El Rodeo and it will continue to be. Great little authentic So. Calif. Mexican-Style taco vendor. I give all the fish tacos a big thumbs up. All the beef/pork taco meats are way too overcook to my taste BUT this is typical for food vendors that have had extensive "street food" experience. Better safe than sorry, food-wise and remember, too, that other countries don't have he stringent health-food laws and inspection procedures as you find in the U.S. so meats tend to get very cooked. Last stop here I tried a Steak (Asada) Burrito.........huge,.... a meal in and of itself. Flour tortilla filled with meat, beans, rice, (I added cheese) lettuce. Also ordered a salmon taco (on special promo) and had way, way too much food. They really do a nice job on the fish tacos,........ salmon, tilapia and shrimp. Being from TX and So. Cal. I have a lot of experience with MX food. This place is far from fancy but they do serve the best tacos in the area. I usually get carne asada. They are served Baja style, soft corn tortillas, meat, onions, cilantro and a lime. The meat is usually tender and tasty. Note the 4 stars are based on this being located in Harrisburg. If they were in TX or CA I would only give them 2 stars. No chips and salsa are served which is a key part of the MX experience. read more

For a few years I have wanted to stop in here, and after Saturday's maiden voyage, I kick myself for waiting too long. We walked in famished my hands shaking with low blood sugar, And looked at the vast array of options listed on the wall and the colorful pamphlet that the cheerful friendly man handed over the counter. My mouth watered for a fresh fish taco so that is what I ordered - my husband ordered the pork Carnitas taco and we both devoured it with much passion. We shared the chips salsa and cheese, and I pretty much poured their green verde on each chip. We washed everything down with a lime and grapefruit Jarritos, and ate every cilantro leaf off the colorful pottery plate. The artwork was fascinating, especially the painting in the bathroom, kind of like Aztec meets Fabio, a chiseled Aztec warrior holding a limp well bosomed maiden. I wondered if she was limp with excitement or that she was a human sacrifice? Suffice it to say, we will return in the very near future and I will order more tacos and devour more verde.
