MMMMM. This little hole in the wall is next to my favorite liquor store. Always seeing it, I knew I had to try it. If it wasn't for someone in Ventura County telling me to come here, I might not have. If someone 30 miles away knew about this place, it had to be good right? RIGHT. The woman working the register was so sweet! Even though she told me one of the salsas was not hot. It really was. It burned my mouth off, lol. Super delicious though. Actually, everything we had here was so good. From the salsas, to guacamole, taquitos, tacos etc. We really went for it and were not disappointed at all. Everything was made very fast but you can tell all the ingredients were fresh. They really take pride in the food they are serving. I loved that they had a salsa bar that was refrigerated! It had a lid and everything to keep in the cool. I haven't been back but I can't wait for it when I do. Best Advice - Order the HARD SHELL TACOS! (They fry the corn tortillas - not like the pre-made hard shells.) Also called "Tacos Dorados." I think they are the best in Los Angeles, on a par with Tito's Tacos. Tito's are a little bit bigger and certainly yummy, but I may prefer the spices/marination that they use here on their meat. Inexpensive. I've never had less than a tremendous meal here. Remember - not many taco houses have the hard shells. Keep the taste alive! read more

From the minute I walked through the door, I knew I should have opted for the Gyro next door. This place is disgusting. Dingy and gross. The guy behind the counter automatically assumed I wanted a burrito. I know this because I walked in and before saying anything he says "What kind of burrito do you want?" " I'm sorry? I don't want a burrito. I would like tacos." I'm the goddamn taco girl. Why in the hell would I want a burrito?! So I ordered my food and took a seat. I watched him take the next guy's money and then dip his hands in the chip bin and with his bare dirty money hands, he piled a handful of chips into my bag. *shudders* Well, when I picked up the bag, it was unusually light. REAL Mexican food is heavy. That bag should have weighed close to 5 lbs... Instead it was under a pound. I already felt cheated. I ordered a number 5. It looked like two good sized tacos with meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese, salsa, rice and beans. What I got was a 4 1/2. Lol Two poor excuses for tacos with meat and onions, bad rice and some beans. Their burritos are delicious, and moderately priced. I believe I've tried 3 or 4 now, and they've all been excellent. The carne asada was good, but my favorite was another burrito...I just can't remember the name of it right now. Reading the other review, I'm not surprised that the cook didn't wash his hands after eating, especially since this place is next to Maxwell's--that place got similar complaints. I pass this place on my way to work and I finally decided to try it. I tried regular al pastor and Asada tacos. Good amount of meat and not greasy. Their sauce (green) is very tasty. Chilequiles are pretty good @ about $5 or $6 bucks. and For like 3 bucks and some change I can copp a nice portion of Eggs (huevos ala mexicana), beans and rice with 3 tortillas. Niice. Parking is a little tight in this corner strip mall. There's only four booths, and the first one by the window is well worn and has a hole in the green vinyl. No air conditioning in this hot place! The good news is the street taco was fairly good, even though the meat was a little over cooked, or pre-cooked. Their tamale had a very hot chile pepper inside of it. It was fair, nothing special....almost like store bought. No fountain drinks, just a can of soda...which wasn't super cold, or maybe the heat inside made it cool to luke warm. This place was recommended to me by a waiter type gentleman at a hooka bar down the street. The tacos were really good, the horchata was very tasty with a nice cinnamon finish. The woman that was working there was sweet, and personable. She even helped me with my Spanish! I would give them five stars but I save those for mind blowing experiences! Writing this review to express how much I enjoyed the food at Taco Loco. I Attended a get together with friends, and was informed we would be having their food. The Meat was exceptional, and a good amount of variety was provided for toppings as well as sides. I will normally cook and prepare my own food but from time to time I enjoy outside food.
