I came to this Taco Mac last night to meet up with some friends and watch Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. This Taco Mac is located on Peachtree Industrial Blvd. just south of the Pleasant Hill intersection. If traveling north on Peachtree Industrial, the restaurant is on the left in its own standalone building. There's plenty of parking outside and it's big and spacious inside, making it a convenient destination to watch sports. Most of the clientele were either Korean, in high school, or both. Well, this *is* Duluth. Most were there to watch the Finals. The Mavs supporters were quite vocal throughout the game. It wasn't until Chris Bosh hit the game-winning jumper that the Dallas fans were silenced and the mostly-silent Miami fans erupted. My tablemates and I were about evenly split as far as our rooting interests were concerned. It was an entertaining game. I actually counted the total number of TVs in the main dining area and came up with 35. The restaurant has another room in the back, next to the bar, so they have even more TVs than that. This Taco Mac is a good place to come with large groups (there were several last night) because of the ample floor space and many tables that can be arranged together. Like the Dunwoody Taco Mac, the Duluth Taco Mac plays the TV audio over the restaurant speakers. I like this because you can hear the announcers during the game. However, the speakers are not as loud or clear as the ones at the Dunwoody location (crowd noise may have also played a role). Also, Duluth Taco Mac does not have any giant HD screens like Dunwoody Taco Mac. Service was good. My friends and I generally come for pint night aka T-Mac Thursdays! Most of the time, if you're not here before 7:00p, don't expect to get a glass. Most of the wait staff are friendly. I had a guy save a pint glass for one of my friend's was running late, and they are generally chatty and helpful. I've only had one bad experience with a waitress where I asked if there were onions in a specific burger to which she responded, "It says it on the menu." The noise level here can get pretty high inside, but if its nice out the patio is a much quieter option. They are always cycling through a bunch of beer options, and what's nice is that a lot of them are on tap. I made up this rule for myself awhile back where I refused to order bottled of can beer because I can actually pour those myself. The only thing is they don't carry any gluten free beers besides the ciders. You would think with such an extensive beer menu they would have at least one gluten free one. Taco Mac's food is mostly your traditional bar foods -- burgers, nachos, wings, etc. It's okay. I would not come here specifically for the food but it's nothing terrible either. The wings are decent and they come with a choice of fries or celery. I don't find them very spicy though, even then "death" option is not that fiery. Overall, I wouldn't go out of your way to come here but if you like watching games on a big screen with a good atmosphere, or drinking some beer, I would say that pint night or any game night is worth it. read more

The pros: GREAT beer selection. Pretty decent menu and prices. Their homemade ranch is awesome! The cons: Most of the time their fries are cold because they get extremely busy during peak times. Not thrilled with my lunch here this week. There were 5 of us meeting for workday lunch. We all got standard taco mac fare, burgers & wings. I got 10 wings. Absolutely average, not hot, celery was stale. I wouldnt complain at a bar at 2am but this is peak lunchtime and one of their signature offers. I was mostly annoyed by the crazy 45+ minutes to get food at lunch. Then when it was time to pay we waited 20 mins after giving cards before they came back with handwritten credit card sheets explaining the computers were down. Tip: when you are having problems with tech, we understand, just tell people upfront. I was much happier just paying cash and it would have saved everyone time. I haven't tried this taco mac specifically for the FOOD yet (something I am going to do in the near future) but we did stop by here to try out their extensive beer menu. The only thing I wish they had was a DESCRIPTION of each beer. That might seem a lot to ask for but a pub in Athens, GA (called Trappeze) does this and it is a monstrous help in helping me choose a beer that would be suitable for me. I like how Taco Mac has this brewniversity card that keeps track of all the beers you try. I think after the 13th beer or something you actually get a free t-shirt. The concept behind this is that you can actually earn a "bachelors" level, "masters" level, all the way to "dean" by consuming a certain number of beers. I also notice that on Thursdays, if you order the beer of the month you get a free pint glass (while supplies last, unfortunately I didn't get one because they ran out---better come early?). But in summary, I thought the service was top notch. I'd give it a 5 stars for service but there isn't a service rating soooo...yeah. The establishment itself gets 3 stars for letting me sample the ones I wanted before I ordered, and for having that brewniversity card thing going on...the bill totaled to about $35 for 6 beers (b/w me and my date). Me and my wife go to this location often as we live five minutes away. Today, we went to the location and sat at the bar and, unfortunately, received very terrible service from the bartender, John. After ordering drinks and food, we asked to have one of the TVs changed to the Browns and Texans game, and after realizing that the game was on Telemundo, we asked John to change it to NBC, and he told us no, it is what it is. He then proceeded not to give us any of our drinks and ordered the wrong food for us. When we spoke to the manager, Reggie, on duty, he tried his best to correct the issue. Unfortunately, we still decided to leave during our interaction, waiting for John's disservice. He served several other patrons who were not black, as we were the only two Black people at the bar. It felt very racially motivated, and we are not people to use race as an excuse. However, as someone who tips very well in the restaurant industry, it is disheartening to see people give terrible service due to their skin color. We recommend the bartender, Justin, as he gives excellent service on Sundays; however, if you're going on Saturday, go at your own risk. read more

I have been living in the area for 25 plus years and have been coming to this Duluth-Taco Mac for pickup and occasional dine-in since it opened about 20 years ago. We have moved to a closer location but still frequent this Duluth location out of habit and familiarity. Tonight, I called in a $31 dollar order that included sweet potato fries but did not realize the fries were missing (though charged for) until I got back home (5 plus miles/15- 20 minutes). When I immediately called back them back, the associate who handled the order and the pickup immediately apologized. He took my name/number and mentioned the manger would be calling me back to comp the entire order. After almost two hours with no call back, I called the restaurant to speak to the manager (Joseth) to see if this offer was going to be honored. The manager (Joseth) REFUSED to comp the entire order and would only do the fries despite what was initially promised by his/her associate. I shared my loyalty to the venue and thought it would be good will to maintain this loyalty and honor what was already promised. I'll admit during our exchange, I did raise my voice because of my disappointment the offer was not going to be honored but apologized for doing so when he/she called me out on it. Periodically, an item is missing or incorrectly provided (e.g. wrong wing flavor, etc.) but what was most disappointing was the manager (Joseth) ended our call by hanging up on me!. Please make sure to check your order before you leave this Duluth restaurant even though the bag is tied up (as customary at all Taco Macs) when they give it you because any promises by associates to make amends may not be honored by management! Some people would call it "bad business" to hang up on any customer especially a faithful one but this was my experience tonight. At the end of the day, there would be no expectation and disappointment had the offer not been made in the first place. The manager (Joseth) also called me rude but he/she was unprofessional to hang up on me and has to take responsibility for the lack of training of his/her associates when associates don't know what they can and cannot offer a customer to make up for something at no fault of the customer especially when the order was repeated by both of us! read more

Someone in the kitchen cuts corners and cooks them along with the spicy wings in the order and then just adds BBQ sauce at the end. All of the wings end up spicy. I think my Taco Mac positive experience was mostly due to our waitress Deirdre. She helped us get the drink we wanted (which was basically a cherry limeade which we eventually worked out to freestyle cherry sprite with lime slices), and suggested I get the nachos with the toppings separate from the chips so I could have non-soggy leftovers. My coworker had tacos, a combination that she said was really good. It was a really great experience and I have to say it had so much to do with our waitress. Have frequented this TM location for years. Its very close and convenient. Through the years service, food quality, and overall facility maintenance have been great at times and not so great at other times. We've gone months avoiding before, and then found upon returning, that things would be better. I HOPE that to be the case again... for now, however, I must leave an unfavorable review. Entering the restaurant last night, I noticed an unclean odor... like unclean public restrooms or high-traffic, damp public carpeted areas. Because the building is old and things appeared clean, we stayed. Our server was nice but when she brought our pitcher and glasses out, rather than utilize a tray for carrying, one glass was tucked between her arm and body. I also observed on several occasions servers carrying water glasses to tables holding them around the top of the glass where customer mouths would be placed. But most disturbing was when my food was delivered and the girl who set my salad down's looong fake fingernail was actually UNDER part of my salad lettuce!! NONE of these things are acceptable in the food service industry during the best of times, but right now??? It appears that TacoMac Duluth needs serious training in food service handling... ALONG WITH the extra precautions and protocols for the current pandemic. Currently, the things we can see are very lax, makes one wonder about the things we caNOT see... Thank you for wearing masks, thank you for hopefully washing hands FREQUENTLY! Gloves FREQUENTLY CHANGED BETWEEN CUSTOMERS, however, would be better. BUT... IF YOU ARE GOING TO WORK IN FOOD SERVICE, YOU MUST KEEP YOUR NAILS TRIMMED AND YOUR HAIR PULLED BACK or AT THE VERY LEAST, wear and CHANGE gloves appropriately over the nails!
