We've been looking at this place for 2 years and never actually tried it. Today, we finally stopped in and it was AWESOME! My partner got the Texas Burger and I got the (HALF ORDER) chicken nachos. My partner is a burger aficionado and he said this is as one of the best burgers he's ever had. The nachos were fantastic too and they had so much on them. The only thing that wasn't the best was how long it took to come out. It probably took about 20 mins for our food to come out and by the time we got it, the fries were cold. Stopped in on a Sunday evening and they were busy, with what appeared to be limited staff. Don't really matter though, the team handled it like a champ. Great, cozy spot to grab a beer. Large bar area with plenty of TVs playing a variety of sports games. I was surprised that there were only a handful of beers on tap but it looked like they had a wide variety of spirits. Overall the food was surprisingly good and came out quickly. Loved the "build your own burger" option as I was able to pick exactly what I wanted. However, the best item on the menu was the macaroni and cheese side. Almost everything is overpriced, even after accounting for inflation. There are a couple of deals to be had - nachos, for example. Second hand, heard some appalling things, but my experience was much more mundane. Ambiance: it's a phoned-in sports bar. There will be a couple of games on above the bar, so that's probably a fine spot to watch something. Worst dining experience available. I went here with my mom and our server was talking to her bf on FaceTime at the table next to us and was swearing left and right. Then to add to the experience it took them a hour to bring out loaded tots and fries. The food was also hot garbage. I told the server it was unacceptable. The Tavern has greatly improved over the last year! We have been going here for years through multiple owners and versions. This is by far the best they have been. The food is great, prices are reasonable, and service is outstanding. We go every Tuesday night for bingo and stop in for drinks/random dinner from time to time. They are always considerate of our kids and treat them with respect. Tonight they had a Valentines special steak dinner and exceeded our expectations by far! They continue to improve the menu and customer experience all the time. We highly recommend stopping in for a nice, local, low key dinner, or drink! So disappointed in our 25 minute drive for an awful experience. We ordered fried pickles for our appetizer, even waited to order our entrees so they wouldn't come out to close in time. The pickles didn't come out, but our food did. The manager came over and said the kitchen forgot about them but they would be out soon. The Philly was cold and the So Cal burger was full of gristle. I ate what I could from the burger but the Philly went back and when it returned there was barely any meat or cheese, and the meat was not fully cooked. My husband did not eat any of it. My drink was empty for 30 mins and not once refilled. The manager did take the pickles and Philly but there is clearly an issue with the staff. The food has potential but the lack of attention of what is going out to customers is disappointing. read more

This place is a TOTAL RIPOFF. Wings that smell rotten. $15 for 10 half-wings. If you want carrots with your wings, you'll get 2 tiny julienned for a $2.00 added charge. But they won't tell you that until after you get the check. And cocktails? $15 for a tiny cocktail. Do you want ICE in your cocktail? They charge $1.50 adder for ice, and they won't tell you THAT either; until after you get your check. Total cost for 10 wings and three cockatails = $80 after tax and tip. Don't do it! Don't even think about it. Went to brunch, waited 45 minutes for cold, mediocre food when it wasn't even busy! The party we were with waited 20 minutes for bud lights until my husband finally went up to the bar. The only saving grace was the bottomless mimosas! But let's talk about the food: after 45 minutes of waiting for pancakes, wings, avocado toast, egg BLT and a kids grilled cheese, I expected something some what decent. We went here expecting normal sports bar food. Man were we surprised! The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. As for the food, high quality and prepared to perfection! Apparently tonight was Buy One-Get None wings night. I ordered a drink and waited 30mins for my wings to come before giving up hope and just leaving. I went home and ate a bowl of Rice Chex. I have been here a dozen times since it has opened and the service has deteriorated. The bar staff are great - but dang - I do not know what's up with the kitchen folks and some of the younger greeters/servers. It really is not that hard to treat your customer with basic service. When getting up to leave and handing back the completely full beer (was waiting for the wings to drink it) my server asked me if my wings never came. Seriously? Isn't it his job to know? What made it worse is that while my food is severely overdue I'm watching the staff standing around chatting while the music is so loud I can't talk to the people around me. It's not hard to treat customers right. Go back to the basics Locos or get an irredeemable bad rep before your first year is even completed. Don't even bother going here. Walked in at 1:45PM with my son on a Saturday. Ordered food that took over 45 minutes to arrive(we left before the food came to the table). Went for the first time tonight. It was very busy but we were seated promptly. The manager greeted us after a few minutes at the table & took our drink order. We got the homemade mozzarella sticks & six wings for apps. The mozzarella sticks were excellent! Wings were good too. Ordered the shrimp po'boy, kids sliders & Turkey avocado sandwich, both with crispy fries. The food didnt come out at the same time (sliders came out early) but they apologized and the quality & taste made up for it. The manager was attentive & made sure everything was good. I had lemon-Yaki wings with side of onion rings. Quite good. Crispy cook, good quality product. Service could not have been sweeter. Now named The Tavern at Sugar Hill, this restaurant has greatly improved since the new ownership took over-much cleaner, brighter, new tvs, and upgraded menu. The food is fantastic! I order a different dish every time I go and have never been disappointed. New bar drinks are added on a regular basis. The wait staff is very attentive and my order always comes out exactly right. Special events, such as bingo night, karaoke, cookie decorating class make The Tavern a great destination. Hopefully the new owner will continue to make improvements to the restaurant, such as sprucing up the restrooms. I can't wait to go back! read more

Main course: Philly Cheese Steak, chicken wings. We each consumed 2 beers while waiting for our order. 1hr 10 minutes late Service said that our meal will be out shortly. The service said that the meal will be out very shortly. They are just making sure that they cook the chicken correctly. The bartender was kind and attentive. However; we were hungry after that long period of time. Total time of one hour and 17 minutes later I advised the bartender to ring me out and just make the order to go. If the order was not ready, they can keep the order and I will still pay for it. Five minutes after this request, the bartender came out with our meals in a bag. Still hungry my party and I went across the street to the French sushi restaurant and was served very quickly. Although sushi was not on my mind after waiting approximately 1 hour 20 minutes later hunger was more important to establishment. Would I recommend this establishment for the readers of this review? I cannot say yes or no. It could've been a glitch in the service at the time. All I can do is tell you my fair experience at this facility. On a middle of the week spontaneous moment, I packed up the family and headed over to one of the newest spots in Sugar Hill. I had seen a Facebook event about this location having it's grand opening event with discounted appetizers and drink specials. We came in around 5:30 that day and were quickly seated. Our server greeted us promptly and brought out some waters. We asked her about the drink specials for the grand opening which she seemed pretty clueless about and had to go ask her manager. I assume she did not know anything about the grand opening special. We started with some drinks while we checked out the menu. We ordered the cheese dip, potato skins, and wings to share. Everything was really decent. Wings at any place is my barometer of how good a place is. The wings packed a lot of flavor but the size was a little lacking but at least they weren't dried out. I like this place better than the Derby & Locos. The menu is basically the same as it was as Locos, but they do have a few different things and some of the popular items from Locos.
