What used to be my FAVORITE restaurant has been tainted by a very bad experience not only at the…read morenew location but the older one as well. I tried calling the Ocoee location over and over but no one ever answered. My husband is in the hospital in Ocoee and I wanted to surprise him. So I called the old location for the correct number. She said "keep trying, they must be busy". It was 5:10 pm. So I did, and repeatedly got no answer. My time is very limited with him and visiting hours, so I wanted to order the food ahead and pick it up so I could get to him quickly. When I got there at 5:30, there was only two customers and the girl at the front desk said "try to call me" and the phone ring. She said "see it's working". After she took my order, I could hear the phone ringing over and over and all she was doing was messing around in the back with the other waitstaff. Yes, the phone works when you answer it! Terrible customer service on both accounts. I'm soarly disappointed.

I was told about 20 to 30 minute wait. So I went to the patio area and rode the mechanical moo moo twice. After the ride, came back inside. It was loud due to the music, but the dancers entertained us. It took a bit longer than expected, but I was seated about 45 minutes later. I took the house margarita for 10 bucks, and it was served in a plastic cup. I was just expecting a standard, but decent quality margarita since it was cheap. I was way off! After the first sip, I can immediately tell I was going to have a huge fiesta. They must have put a lot of tequila, cause I was feeling tipsy already. After drinking half of it, I was dancing to the music. The full drink left me in party mode throughout the whole time as the restaurant. For my entree, I took the chicken enchiladas got 17 dollars. I choose double rice and cream sauce. There were two nicely sized enchiladas, and the chicken was shredded nicely. It was tender and the enchiladas was pretty soft. The sauce was mild, but still flavorful to enjoy. The rice was filling. I saved one enchilada for home cause I wanted dessert too. So I took the tres leches (9 dollars), which was sweet and moist. It was just the right slice portion for me. It was just an excellent dinner for Cinco de Mayo. Service was pretty busy and got a bit chaotic at times, but they still did a very good job. While it did get slow sometimes, the entertainment fully made up for it. A lot of people were dancing and chanting to the Mexican hat dance and tequila songs. Quite a few, especially the kids, were having fun on the bull. And the professional dancers did a great job interacting with the guests. It was wild, fun, and enjoyable. I must say that while Azteca Del Oro has smaller portions at higher prices than a few years ago, it is still serving filling food at maybe higher quality than before. Maybe it was the alcohol making me happy, or the bull rides that got me disoriented. And I made the mistake of telling the operator that I ride live bulls too, because he did go hard mode on me the last ride, causing me to land awkwardly and hurt my arm. For my entree, I went with the molcajete, a large serving of steak, chicken, shrimp and chorizo with peppers and onions and a chunk of queso fresco on top, served in a scalding hot stone mortar with rice and beans on the side. All the meats were good, I really couldn't pick a favorite. A fraction of it went home with me afterward. Nothing on the dessert menu grabbed my attention. Service was good.

The restaurant was a little busy, but remained clean and well kept. Also the parking lot is shared by several businesses so finding a spot was challenging. The Winter Park area tends to stay busy so it was no surprise. I've been to Agave Azul several times and its always a good vibe! The fajitas came out without the sizzle of the skillet (disappointing but not a deal breaker) and the chipotle chicken was overly salty. I would have gladly let my server know the food was too salty, but unfortunately they nearly completley absent our entire dining experience. We love the table salsa and could not find them in the restaurant to ask for more until our food was delivered. But after that, we never saw them again. It wasn't until the bartender noticed us looking, that we were able to ask for our check. There was maybe 4 tables in the restaurant during this time and 0 staff presence.
