Taco Rio Mexican Kitchen is a small Mexican restaurant located in a strip mall on Semoran Boulevard that has definitely seen better days. This shopping plaza used to have the Presidente supermarket as its anchor store, but pulling in, I saw that Presidente supermarket appears closed with paper covering the windows. While they have an advertised special of ten tacos for twenty dollars, the price has increased to twenty-five dollars. This is understandable with the current climate where we are dealing with runaway inflation, but they should let us know about the price increase. I only got takeout, but the service while I was here, the staff was friendly and professional. Upon getting home, we tore into our huge spread of food. The food was not bad, but it was nothing special either. I do not know if they were having an off day or if this is the norm. I do not know if I would return. Again, it was at best mediocre to average.

Stopped in this plaza for H&R Block, but after we we're hungry and this place a few doors down. To start, this plaza needs some work. Trash in parking lot and a gang of guys hanging out nearby. Regardless, we went in. Interior? Bigger than I expected. Lots of decor, maybe a little too much, but thats just ascetics. The staff, sweet. We were there early, but the host/server was great. Food came out pretty fast and presented nicely. Food: We both order tacos, comes with rice and beans- however there is much more on their menu. The tacos were great. I had a pastor taco and a carnitas. The carnitas? Definitely my favorite! Crispy ends to the meat, tender and yummy. When it comes to Mexican? I always judge on their refried beans. Theirs were great. I ordered a michelada for drink, perfect. Bottom line? If you're in the neighborhood and want an inexpensive lunch, casual, I'd recommend and go again. (I ordered another taco to go lol). This isn't the place to impress someone, but if they like a good lunch Definitely!

A solid three. While chips and queso are not truly Mexican this queso was Tostitos nacho cheese at best like the cheese from the movie theater. The tacos were very flavorful. Loved the beans. The rice was ok. My favorite thing was the horchata to be honest. All in all it was just ok as another mentioned. Would I go back yes would I be In a hurry no.

The tacos were amazing, they have a great 10 tacos for $20 deal. The frijoles were delicious and of red beans (i'm pretty sure) which you don't see often. Extremely well decorated on the inside and music playing too so great vibes! Totally recommend! It's neat as well. the only improvement I'd suggest is better service, the waiters didn't get up to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. Everything else 10/10

I stopped by here for lunch and they had a lunch special. It was recommended to me by my coworker and she said the food here was really good and cheap too. I had to try it since we were in the area. This is the second location and the first one, she had been before too. I ordered the lunch special and I saw some stew ribs cooking on the stove and they said that was one of the options for the lunch special, so I got it. The food was really tasty and flavorful. They also have horchata!

Found this place and it looks amazing inside. #drinkingsangria

There were indoor seating options only, though it does look like they have a patio space that might be occasionally open. We were able to accommodate the entire group at one table, and we had one server assigned to our table as well. Drinks along with complimentary chips and salsas were brought out somewhat quick! The salsas were a bit on the spicy side, but had good flavor. Appetizers took about 45 minutes to get out, and they were somewhat small portions. The queso (wish I would have gotten a picture) was not what you would expect, it was thicker almost chunky like consistency. It was super tasty but not what you would likely expect by any means! Our mains took well over an hour and a half to come out. We had people in our group that ended up leaving right as their food was arriving. It was odd to many of us in the group that they kept bringing out one plate at a time for our table, but were able to serve all members of other tables sitting around us. Because of this many of us were waiting on our food while others had already finished. The food came out super slow, but don't worry the bill came out before some of us even got our food! Our server also wasn't very present, rarely did she come around to refill drinks or check on how we were doing. Overall the food was decent but not worth the wait. Would I come back...maybe? The location is convenient for a quick lunch, however the time we would likely have to spend waiting for our food may not be worth it.

The fajitas came out without the sizzle of the skillet (disappointing but not a deal breaker) and the chipotle chicken was overly salty. We love the table salsa and could not find them in the restaurant to ask for more until our food was delivered. But after that, we never saw them again. It wasn't until the bartender noticed us looking, that we were able to ask for our check. There was maybe 4 tables in the restaurant during this time and 0 staff presence.

I believe they have several locations in the area, and this is a newer one with very welcoming and modern interiors. They have wonderful daily specials and various happy hour periods that extend from 2 to 10 PM, including $3 tacos from 8 until 10 PM. Meals start off with complimentary chips and salsa (4.5/5), which are happily refilled upon request. We tried a variety of tacos (5/5) which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The vegetarian San Jose's fajita bowl (4.5/5) was tasty and served in a generous portion that is ideal for sharing. The cheese quesadilla (5/5) hit all the fresh flavor notes without the cheese being too sharp in taste. The churros (5/5) were the perfect dessert, having a slightly crunchy exterior and softer core as you bit into it. We loved the food and atmosphere so much that we visited twice the same week while visiting the Orlando area. Service (4.5/5) was excellent on our first visit, and slightly slower on our 2nd visit, but still incredibly friendly with management checking in on customers to make people were enjoying their meals. Overall, I'd rate the food and experience a 4.5/5, but happy to round up since San Jose's is right up my alley for an ideal Mexican meal that is delicious and doesn't gouge you with prices like other restaurants tend to do. I'll gladly return on future trips to the Orlando area and will be recommending them to others, as San Jose's would crack my rotation of a Mexican restaurants I'd regularly visit if I lived locally.
