It was so good! The chicken taquitos were meh for me. I usually love those but I didn't care for these. They didn't taste like much. I would have preferred tacos or more birria instead. The kids plate came with rice and beans and their beans were phenomenal! I wasn't expecting that either. I didn't get to try the steak taco because the kids ate it all (they hardly ever finish their food). I also ordered a few tacos to go for my husband (he really enjoyed them!) Their horchata was just the right mix of milk and cinnamon. Not too thick and not too sweet. Right after I got my food, they were flooded with orders and were doing their best to keep up with demand. People were not patient and some were rude but I think they did a good job at being professional and giving out chips or whatever they could to keep customers happy. The whole family was working it seemed- the uncle or dad on the grill, mom prepping the plates, son or nephew going over the orders, other nephew packing them up or running plates, niece at the cash register, daughter cleaning up the tables- I love that. The tacos were tender and tasty overall, and the salsa that came with them was really good, packing plenty of heat. My only small complaint was that the cilantro and onion they provided were good for about a fourth of the tacos. Just not anywhere near enough for 40 tacos. Everyone was happy with them, so will try again on the rellenos and tamales.

We immediately popped a U-turn and drove the extra 10 miles -- best decision of the night. The place looks small from the outside, but it's clearly built to handle crowds. It was nice and clean, not overly loud, with the FIFA game on in the background -- perfect vibe. The customer service was excellent right away, and I soon learned that Alex (who was hands-on with everything) is the owner. You can tell a lot about a place when the owner is right there setting the example. We started with quesabirria tacos and consomé. Holy smokes -- super meaty, perfectly crispy, and that dip in the rich consomé took them to another level. I was so impressed that I had to keep going to see if it was a fluke. Coming from Tijuana and LA taco standards, I needed to know if I'd just found a new local favorite. Next up: asesina tacos (tangy guacamole and chiles on point), juicy cabeza, and the absolute showstopper -- tripa tacos. Those tripa were next-level crispy, loaded with flavor, and the lime juice + green sauce combo was straight fire. I had to call people to tell them about it, then ordered three more just to confirm I wasn't dreaming. I've always been a lengua guy, but this place made tripa my new #1. Every taco came out looking like a meal fit for a king. This is the kind of spot you almost don't want to tell people about so you can keep it to yourself... but I have to spread the word. I hope they never change their receipe. Because of the construction that is going on at this time, they had the Farmers Market set up in front of the empty Macy's (8/17/2018), which is a great idea because I think they will have more foot traffic. The only reason why I came is because I was waiting for my mom get her labs done at Saddleback. Let's go back to those amazing tacos. The meat was very tender. Soft and juicy. Cooked well! It goes on top of small corn tortillas (street taco size) but well filled with meat. He gives you a # and when you get ur taco, he will ask what kind of toppings you want: salsa onions, or cilantro. I went for both red and green salsa. It was great. Well balanced with the heat. He also gives you a packet of salt. And a side of lime! The only thing missing is a nice cold Corona. No alcohol served here, but they have water and soda for $1.00. I am happy that they have my favorite, Diet Coke! They have 3 tables and chairs set up across their taco stand with shade! ;) And they love some fun Spanish Music playing which just adds another level of fun and so festive.
