This was such a cute restaurant! I wish I would've taken a picture of the interior, the walls are painted bright and there were sugar skulls, piñatas, and other vibrant decorations. The food was honestly a solid 4/5, I got shredded chicken inside my enchiladas and it was very moist and tender. The rice and beans were both yummy. I dimly felt that some of the items lacked in flavor. The Jamaica is homemade and delicious! The tortillas used in the enchiladas tasted homemade and were so yummy. The owner of the restaurant is quite possibly the nicest guy in the planet. He was so kind and welcoming to us. Haven't been in 20+ years. For nostalgia, met my hubby on a Saturday and had an early lunch . We were the only ones in the restaurant. I must say, the most mediocre Mexican food I've EVER had but the "refried beans" were down right in edible. It was souplike- soppy wet, no texture. Literally no texture and so incredibly bland- it was offensive. He dropped the plates, never came back. You pay at the cashier so he literally just never came back- like a cafeteria. I'm still stunned at the bean porridge we were served. The shrimp tacos were ok. 3 small shrimp, super super salty and the tortillas were ice cold. Low in flavor. Truly, such a sad experience. I wish them to do better. We'll never be back. So disappointed in this relic. read more

Delicious, authentic Mexican food can be found at Taco Taco on Washington Blvd. in downtown Ogden. Chips and hard taco shells are hand made and are delicious if not a little bit bland. They are made of the same ingredients. Salsa is tasty. The tacos we ordered (Fish, beef and chicken) were all equally good but again a little bit bland. Still good flavor and all the meats were seasoned and cooked well. I have heard great things about their other offerings but have yet to try them. Service wasn't great unfortunately. There was only a single guy working the tables and the register and one guy in the back cooking. There were only 2 tables plus ours and our server was very slow regardless. We asked for water and never got any until we were done with our food. He apologized and brought the water which was nice and appreciated but too late since we were already done with our food. Overall, I'd have to give 4 stars for the food that we have tried thus far, and 3 stars for the service since I understand one guy being there alone (although only 2 tables). Anywho, aside from the service go check this place out for the tacos. We will visit again and sample more of their menu and update! read more

I'm a strong believer that you can judge Mexican food based on the chips and salsa. The chips were handmade with the perfect amount of crunch and salt. The salsa was fresh and full of flavor. I knew I was in for a treat! We ordered the Chile verde burrito plate and the green chicken enchiladas. I preferred the green enchiladas but both were great. Rice and beans had good flavor although they weren't the most flavorful I've ever had. Our food wasn't spicy at all - not a complaint or compliment - just an observation. I have no clue how this has such bad ratings! This was our first time here and I already want to come back tomorrow. I got the pastor tacos and my husband got the enchiladas rojas and we loved both! Taco Taco has been around a long time. I believe the last time I ate here was about 15 years ago, I wasn't impressed then and I am not impressed now. Customer service was odd, I was told to seat myself as I entered, even though the place was empty it took awhile for the waitress to come by with chips and to take my drink order. Chips seemed homemade but they were really thick and chewy and the fresh salsa had little to no flavor. The menu is large, it took awhile to read through it but I finally ordered the Chile Verde Burrito platter listed on the menu for over $9. The food was delivered in a minute or two. My first thoughts, hmmm that burrito is a bit small and cool it has cotija cheese (too bad it is only a light dusting). I quickly dug into the burrito which was smothered is a thin tomatillo sauce. It was filled with a reasonable portion of shredded pork so I was optimistic. My optimism died quickly, the pork was wet, mushy and had no flavor and it appeared to be wrapped in a store bought tortilla, the tomatillo sauce didn't add much flavor so the burrito was a bust. On to other parts of the platter, the rice was overcooked, mushy and flavorless, the beans were the star of the show, unfortunately the show was a really bad B-Movie. The restaurant is run down and filthy, some may try to call that authentic or rustic but I don't believe those need to be achieved with dust, dirt or grime. Service is awkward and the food is flavorless, undersized and overpriced. If you are looking for good authentic Mexican food, there is a far better option with flavorful food at half the price just two blocks down Washington Blvd. read more

Was looking for a little spot to enjoy our Taco Tuesday. We went on Yelp and decided to give this place a try after reading the updated reviews. We live in Layton and have tried most of the Mexican restaurants that were local to us and wanted something a little more authentic. This place was so enjoyable! We have a daughter under 1 yrs and this place was great for children. They were also very accommodating with recommendations based on our heat preferences. We love spicy! Also, the chips are warm and fresh served along with a very addictive salsa.. We ended up ordering some guacamole and were not disappointed. Our waiter even asked if we wanted some fresh jalapeños added to it to spice things up! He kindly chopped them up and was not bothered by the extra requests. You can tell this restaurant takes pride in their services, they had clean restrooms, and were happy to meet any requests. The food was memorable, warm fresh homemade beans topped with cojita, and meat to meet any mouthwatering craving. Give this place a try, and support local businesses. Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Ogden. The food is delicious, and the owners are so kind and attentive. My son left his jacket in the restaurant on a Friday afternoon, and on Sunday the owners showed up at our door with it. He had left his wallet in the pocket, and they got his address and brought us the coat. These are great folks who make great food! My favorite is the Tacos Mexicanos. Delicious! Oh my goodness - what a gem! The only thing close to Mexican we've had since we've been back in Ogden is the Sonora Grill. This is REAL Mexican food -- and FAST! We gave our order and not a couple of minutes later (literally) my burrito was on the table in front of me. Terrible food. We got a chili rellenos and it looked and tasted like it had tomato sauce poured over it. The other food was okay but not great. They gave us basically a handful of chips and when we asked for more charged us for another handful of chips without telling us. This is by far the Best Mexican food I have eaten. It is a mom and pop ran business so expect that going in but the food is rock solid. It is made the way it should be. Let me start by saying, Everyone has an off day and maybe I didn't order the right thing. After my business meeting in Odgen I jumped onto yelp to find some local cuisine. I was excited to see Taco Taco getting such high reviews. (This will not be one of them) While they were moderately busy, (less then 1/2 full), it took them a while to take my drink order and even longer to bring me my drink and take my order, say around 7-10 mins before my drink arrived. Like I say above, maybe I order the wrong thing, everyone mentions the taco's but I went with the Chili Verde. After I ordered I waited, and waited, and waited. When the waitress finally came back out, it wasn't to bring me my food, but it was to ask me again what I ordered, another 10 minutes gone. After that, the food came out quickly, but for me it was tasteless. Not the spicy Chili Verde I was expecting, but some shredded pork in what tasted like a verde salsa. While I will go back, (I always give a second try, even to Hooters), I will not be trying the Verde again, I stick with what everyone says they are good at and get some taco's. read more

This is authentic Mexican food, not Tex-Mex or some Americanized chain restaurant. It's not Chilies (Thank-God!) as some idiot who has probably never been outside of Utah County posted in their negative review. The food is simple, tasty and plentiful. The atmosphere is similar; simple and laid back. I usually get the Chili Verde and my son loves the enchilada suizas. They even have dishes that my vegetarian daughter can eat. If you don't know and love authentic Mexican food, you may or may not like it. If you appreciate good authentic Mexican, you'll love it. The bad: Had the Chili Verde its not real if you don't actually cook the meat in the sauce... And I could forgive that if the sauce tasted good, but you can get better Verde Sauce out of a jar. Basically it was warmed up pork with a bad jar based (my guess) verde poured over the top. Guacamole had a horrible flavor as it was way past its expiration date... It left oil residue on the plate as the oils were seperating from it, not good at all. The good: Ray seemed like a cool guy, $4 modelo/tecate tallboys, the pico de gallo. I cannot tell you how much I miss this place. I've been gone from Utah for 10 years and I still mention Taco Taco to anyone who brings up the city of Ogden.
