Love the vibe of this place! It's a cute outdoor restaurant on Sunset. We came for dinner on a weekday and it wasn't too busy. We were seated quickly and the servers were attentive and gave great recs. Definitely try the different salsas they offer - they're all so good! Great spot for good food and drinks.

Food was great. Drinks were good! Such a cute ambiance with really cute outdoor vibes. The service was also good. Came twice already and will definitely be back! Their chip and salsa flight was also really good.

So happy we stumbled upon this gem. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is a total wow. The Christmas décor was elegant and perfectly done. We came in on a Saturday night without a reservation and were able to snag seats at the bar. We started with the calamari and aguachile, both were a 10/10. For our mains, we ordered the shrimp and fish tacos; the shrimp was definitely more flavorful. The elote was delicious, and our plates were wiped clean. Service was good. The michelada was tasty, and the margaritas were solid, just a little on the tart side.

This restaurant is beautiful. It has a nice indoor/outdoor area, very instagrammable. The server (Maribelle?) was amazing! She gave us great recommendations, was so accommodating and consistently checked on how we were doing. The food was much better than i thought it would be. My favorite was the elote, blew my mind. My second favorite was the chips and guac. Definitely 100% would come again

It's been about a year since I've been here but it's been sitting in my drafts and I like to know where I've been and if I liked it. Went here with some friends so I'm pretty sure I was more focused on conversations, but I have no bad memories. The food was good, the service was good and the place was nice. I do remember really enjoying the salsas. I'd come back if I was ever in the mood...

In Los Angeles, when you are looking for a place to take out of town guests from some cloudy, rainy, cold places, they almost invariably love a Mexican restaurant. There are Mexican places all over this country now, but some of the best in the US are in Los Angeles. One of them is in Silver Lake, Tacolina. We were there on a warm January afternoon for lunch. It was crowded when we arrived so larger parties needed two tables as this outdoor space is cleverly parqueted with many intimate, round surfaces. All of them are either backed up to a comfortable banquette (as ours was) or outfitted with cushiony chairs. There is a clever "sunscreen" overhead through which some old trees are still climbing toward the sky. The first thing you notice is the color -- riots of ruby, turquoise, bright leafy green, and mustard -- very south of the border, let's say. Then you can imagine that you are in a tropical rainforest of sorts. The overall effect is enlivening and charming but somehow calming too. Next, there is the menu -- full of unique items along with familiar ones but done with Tacolina's special twist. Take Cafe de Olla, for example. Most places just combine ordinary black coffee, simple (cane) syrup, and cinnamon. But here they add a touch of chili to exquisite La Colombe and it makes all the difference -- I could have downed a pitcher of that stuff! We were a conventional bunch so we got familiar dishes (see my photos) and all of it was very good. The service was excellent too and we had two people fussing over us, especially the smiling and attentive James. Tacolina is on a busy stretch of Sunset in a gritty but interesting part of town. I have always loved Silverlake, while being aware of its challenges -- parking for one, and dodging a few urbanic hazards. But, for this particular experience, it is well worth it. And, coming from a big old city myself, I actually welcome a familiar hit of reality. If you come early, you can grab metered parking all along the street. Still, once you are inside, Tacolina envelops you in another world, one with chattering birds, soft music, rich colors, and exceptional flavor. And when you leave (you won't want to), make sure to drive up and down the boulevard to see a panoply of one-of-a-kind shops that still thrive in this festive little patch of LA. We will be back. Olé!

You'll want to add Tacolina to your favs list for both a date night and for the cuisine. We celebrated an early New Year's dinner and our party was seated within a cozy modified green house; totally felt like an intimate space enhanced with gorgeous plates and table settings. The food -- delicious, but know that the portions are not shareable if you're one to eat lots. In that case, order double. The evening quickly turned busy, but being within the greenhouse it kept our group's vibe cozy and relaxed. That said, the service, although swamped with orders to and fro, was kind and attentive; they even comped our last round of drinks due to the extended wait. Last note: if you like spicy foods make sure to ask otherwise the salsas, although tasty have no kick. So ask for the chipotle salsa !

This place was absolutely charming, with a beautiful ambiance that made for a great dining experience. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. The drinks were good, though not the best I've ever had, but still enjoyable. The chips and guacamole were delicious and clearly made with fresh ingredients, although they were a bit on the pricey side. The calamari was another standout and definitely worth ordering. For the main dishes, the tinga tacos were perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. They also offer a habanero salsa upon request, which adds great flavor, but be warned--it packs some serious heat! The Baja fish tacos were cooked perfectly and were another highlight of the meal. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. Between the inviting atmosphere, great service, and tasty food, this is definitely a place I'll be returning to.

Tacolina absolutely delivered! We tried the aguachile, carne asada nachos, carne asada tacos, fish tacos, and the guacamole, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and so well done. The aguachile had the perfect kick, the carne asada was juicy with great seasoning, and the fish tacos were super crisp and light. Even the guac was a standout, bright, creamy, and super fresh. The service was genuinely great, attentive without being overbearing, and everyone was friendly. Drinks were also on point, really well balanced, and honestly just pretty, super aesthetic, perfect for a cute night out or content girlies . The vibes and ambiance are really good, too. Fun, modern, stylish -- the kind of place you instantly want to come back to. Highly recommend Tacolina!

The parking sucks lol but the spot is dope asf. The whole vibe and setting was on point. As soon as I walked in I felt like I was at some tropical destination. The service was awesome The food was delicious. And the drinks were amazing.

Ordered the Chicken nachos on a delivery service. They were really good, I'm happy they separated the cheese from the chicken/beans/chips because nothing was soggy. Good portion, very filling and the seasoning on the chicken / queso was good!

The moment you step inside (the inside is outside), the restaurant has a breezy, relaxed vibe that almost feels like being on vacation. Sometime parking can be a challenge since it is street parking only. We have been here several times with great, prompt service. Service-wise on this visit, our server was friendly, but the pacing was a drawback. He never came back to check on us once the food arrived, forgot to put in a drink order and everything moved much slower than expected. We ordered taquitos and fish tacos and enchiladas verdes from the brunch menu. The enchiladas were flavorful and while I initially thought there was a lot of sauce, it ended up being perfect because it was well absorbed by the tortillas/chicken. The tacos were good, but a bit more bland than on past visits, which was disappointing since they're usually a highlight. The food and service are generally 5 stars. I gave it 4 stars on the review mostly for the slow service.

And over time, this place has always had a fun vibe and reasonably priced drinks. The folks here seem to always be friendly as well. Even after all these years, this place could still get pretty crowded (the space isn't huge so that helps). They also have the Dodgers games on when available so that's great if you want to grab a drink in the area and don't want to miss the game. He was friendly, welcoming, and gave us a great first impression. However, our experience afterward was disappointing. We waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated and another 20-30 minutes before anyone took our order. I understand that restaurants get busy, and we were trying to be patient because we could see the staff was overwhelmed. When we finally got our beer, I told our server, Noah, that I could pour it myself if that would help. Instead of explaining the situation politely, he responded with attitude and said, "You know I can't serve you guys, right?" I apologized, but then he told us, "Nah, you guys have to leave." This was frustrating after waiting so long just to place an order. We were never rude or disrespectful to the staff, so the interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary. I completely understand being busy, but customer service should still be respectful. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression despite the great welcome we received from Nate.

The decor was a garden type setting with floral designs throughout the venue. There are pub tables with high-top stools. We snagged a corner couch with a coffee table in the center. It was very comfortable, like we were visiting someone's home. It's a perfect place for small or large groups. We ordered: - Prosciutto Panini - on focaccia with mozzarella, spinach, red onion, olive aioli and pickled veggies on the side. - Eggplant Panini - on focaccia, feta and provolone cheeses, tomatoes, arugula and pickled veggies on the side. - French Fries with dipping sauce - Hummus Plate - with sliced pita bread - Mediterranean eggs - on burrata cheese, topped with secret glaze and garnish. To end the night before we headed off to dinner, we stopped by The Semi- Tropic bar for drinks. The parking situation was difficult to say the least-- there is no street parking or parking lot. And the neighborhood behind the bar is filled with park cars. We were lucky and parked at a parking lot that was for the surrounding business (so sorry to the pizza/ weed shop!). We arrived at around 6:30 PM so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by one of the servers and she gave us options to either sit at a lounge table area or hightop tables. We opted for the hightop tables because we knew we weren't staying there for long. The server was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu for drinks. I've been sober for about a year so I only had water, my boyfriend ordered a Naoshima Dream, his cousin ordered a Mango Cart, and his cousin's girlfriend ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. The bar was super cute and hipster! I honestly would have loved going to this bar back when I used to drink. It's dimly lit, had a vintage 20's speakeasy feel to it and the music was a vibe. I'd recommend coming here for a little date with your partner or even coming with a group of friends. My boyfriend had been here once before and he said the food was really good and affordable. He had a panini and said for bar food it was a 10/10. We waited maybe like 10 minutes for our drinks to come, we were having such a fun time chatting and enjoying the environment that it didn't feel long at all. My boyfriend, his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend really enjoyed their drinks. They said the drinks tasted "light" insinuating that there was barely any alcohol in it. Don't let the taste fool you, after finishing half of their drink there were full of smiles, giggles, and had a great buzz going. The prices here were all pretty fair for the cost and quality of the drinks. Would defintely recommend coming here for drinks and dinner for a date night or a night out with friends!

We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process.
