Local bar not far from where I live. Hadn't been here yet, not sure why, so was out and about and decided to pop in on the weekend. Indoor and outdoor seating available, Bar Henry is a cool little for in Echo Park serving up tasty cocktails in a friendly, local feeling environment. We tried a few cocktails when we visited. The Butthole Surfer is their version of a pina colada which, while decent, could have been a little more flavor forward. Feel it is premade in batches as I didn't see it made fresh but was brought getting the back, but still decent. The Lucid Dream had the smokiness from the mezcal posted with the mandarin, but then the rosemary comes in and helps add a little balance to the drink. The Swimsuit Edition was more flavor forward, but the passion fruit didn't necessarily pop in the drink for us. And finally was the Snitches Get Stitches, another mezcal drink with mango and horchats. Interesting was my first thought, then you start getting the nuances of the different interested and it's a respectable cocktail. Overall, good drinks, friendly people, chill atmosphere, and a nice addition to the bar scene in Echo Park

Bar Henry is a great neighborhood cocktail spot in Echo Park. The vibe is intimate and stylish. Moody lighting, velvet seating, and a cozy atmosphere. The drinks are excellent, strong classics and creative cocktails, plus a good selection of beer, and wine. It does get busy on weekends, so seating can be limited and the noise level rises, but on weeknights it's much more relaxed and conversation friendly.

What I can say, I really dig this place. I've been here a handful of times and I always enjoy good conversations over solid cocktails. Solid drinks, chill vibes, and dope sounds on deck, equals a rewarding formula. Beverages: 5/5. Based on the cocktails I've had, they're consistently good. Happy Hour menu is always great and I take advantage of it. Ordered a Negroni last night, but I've also enjoyed some of their combos (beer/shot of Mezcal) from the Happy Hour menu. Service: 5/5. On point. Handled. Nuff said. Ambiance: 5/5. Sure, the dark warm moody vibes are a plus. However, it's the local neighborhood bar feel, minus the lack of pretension (WEHO), and actual adults that make Bar Henry a winner in my book. It's refreshing to find a cocktail lounge/bar that gets it right and I always look forward to stopping in. Buen provecho.

Cool loungey atmosphere. Drinks were strong and tasty- just how I like it! Good service as well. I like the layout and how it's not so bright. Just chill and have a drink.

Visited Bar Henry a couple of months ago for the first time. The bar posted they were having a Palestinian fundraiser so I wanted to go support. Unfortunately when I walked in there wasn't anything indicating or blatantly obvious that the fundraiser was going on. Anyway, I still ordered a drink (dirty martini) and a pretzel. I'm sure the drink was well made I just wasn't a fan of olives and vodka together so I'll probably never order that in my life. The pretzel was honestly pretty disappointing, I've had better. I'd definitely go back because it wasn't a loud bar and it was a place I can see myself catching up with a friend.

Neighborhood bar. Super chill Vibe. Naked and famous is my go to drink. Cool chill spot to check out after a evening Dodgers Game. Parking: street parking all around.

Tasty fantastic drinks! The Flattened Priest, on Bar Henry's menu is one of the best Mezcal cocktails I've ever had! We came to celebrate our friend's birthday, a private event and had the BEST time at Bar Henry. I didn't get any photos of my drinks, they were simply divine & I was too busy enjoying the night. Dancing to good tunes, hanging with friends & ringing up a bar tab that was worth it! The staff is super friendly and good vibes all around. I'll be back for more Flattened Priests - the best Mezcal drink with a Taramind mini spoon of delight inside! Tajin rim! Let's go!!!! Just a heads up - beware of the edge of the bar when placing your drink down. It slopes downward aka not flattened like my fave drink. So don't let your cocktail slide off & hit the ground. Or be the hero and catch someone's recently set down cocktail as it slides off the bar. I'm 1 for 2 with the save. Aside from that bar table challenge - everything else is superb!!!

I always thought this was an upscale fancy bar but it turned out to be a super chill neighborhood (dive) bar. That wasn't what I expected and I thought the vibe was really cool. I saw a DJ Booth but there was no music when I was there. Just FYI. No food. Happy Hour. Street parking only.

Not exactly sure how long this bar was around, but I just went for my first time recently. And I think I found new favorite spot to drink in the area especially before or after Dodger games. The vibe is pretty chill here and the bartenders are really cool. They have a great selection on whisk(e)y and of course the more higher end you go, the more it will cost you, but honestly, the relative pricing here feels really reasonable compared to other places you can find the same rare whiskeys. Came here to meet some friends after the opening day Dodger game, so parking and driving through the area was probably as horrible as you would imagine. I found parking a few blocks away and came in and sat at the bar area. My friends were already drinking, but I started with a pour of William Larue Weller. One of my faves! I also got some Blanton's Gold before leaving. Really liking the selection here. I could see this being a great spot grabbing a drink before or after dinner here as well especially since it seems like so many exciting and great restaurants are in the area. I hope to be coming back quite frequently around dining adventures and Dodger outings. There was another spot I used to go to in the area for drinks around Dodger games, but with all due respect to the other spot, I feel like I'm getting way too old to deal with the crazy crowds, haha. This place definitely feels more my speed.

Love Love Looove Bar Henry. Super chill spot with a great staff, ultra accommodating owners, delicious cocktail program and comfortable vibe. Just stopped in last night and tried the "Under the Milky Way" cocktail made with precision by the ever-so talented Julian and it KNOCKED MA SOCKS OFF! The epitome of drinkable! So good I had to check it twice. D.J. was playing some great tunes and it was a TIME! Bar Henry is a place that I hold in my heart and can guarantee it'll treat you right whenever you find yourself in the neighborhood. Much love.

Bar Henry is a gem to polish off your Dodgers Day or swing by to catch up with friends. The inside has low lights and a cozy atmosphere. I tried the Butthole Surfer which came in a fun tiki type glass. This cocktail packed a great punch that could have you riding on a wave as time slips by. We bellied up to the bar, met with smiling faces and cordial nods. I will definitely find another occasion to visit.

I've passed Bar Henry so many times and always wanted to check it out. One night while driving down Sunset, we finally made it in. I had the Butthole Surfer, which is basically a frozen Pina Colada. It was really good, but I really didn't need the extra dark rum floater... after that one drink I was one and done! I liked the dark and cozy vibes and the service was excellent. Our bartender was so funny and friendly. I'll most definitely return.

We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.

We went on an early Thursday evening, so it was pretty dead, which honestly I liked. But on the weekends it turns into a piano bar, so if you want the full experience that's probably when you should come. My partner wanted to check this place out, and I had absolutely no idea what I was walking into. I used to live in Savannah, Georgia, and walking in immediately reminded me of bars back there. I've missed places like this. I didn't even bother looking at the menu. I asked one question: "Do you have fried pickles?" "And are they spears?" Check. And check. Instantly passed my very low bar test for a place like this, and they tasted exactly how I wanted them to. Both bartenders were great too. Easy to shoot the shit with. Although I will say... I kind of wished there were just a couple old guys sitting in the corner quietly brooding over their drinks. They also have pickled eggs, which I honestly can't remember seeing at another bar in LA. And if pickled pig's feet are your thing... they've got those too. They've never been my thing. The only thing that really pulled me out of the atmosphere was the giant ring light by the bathroom. I guess you have to keep the younger crowd entertained these days if a live piano player isn't enough. There's also the market next door, which is owned by the same people and looks like it's full of good stuff, but it was closed when we visited. I'm assuming it's open on the weekends too, which is another reason I'd recommend coming, if you want the full experience. One last thing... don't be a dick and order a Ramos Gin Fizz when the place is slammed. We only ordered one because it was completely dead.
