My family and I stopped by because we love Ameca in Gilroy and haven't been to their new spot. I gave a one star because the food is good but everything else was not a pleasant experience. The employees were not friendly, not helpful and there's no AC. My husband ordered tacos de lengua and was asked if he wanted everything on them and he said yes. He was never told it's $4 extra for "everything." He also wanted a beer and since he didn't have his ID on him, they didn't give him one (rightfully so). The issue I have is that when the next customer came in to order they didn't make him show his ID and gave him a beer. I called in my order for some take out. The woman who helped me suggested two tacos per person vs. three because they are larger than your average taco. I'm so glad she suggested that otherwise we would have so much food left over. We tried chicken and asada tacos, both very tasty. They even packed them for us two per plate which made it easy to distribute to our team. I love that they have the salsa bar where you can pack different salsas to try along with a few other condiments. I will definitely be back to try more of their food. read more

I may mention it in the review but I usually like to keep the ratings solely based on the content of the food but the service in this place has been so consistently bad, that it makes it very difficult to actually enjoy the food. My order was over $20 for a burrito and chips (i had to ask for salsa, they almost gave me Chips but don't think of giving your salsa??) they gave 4 to tiny salsa dips 1/2 full each.. Seriously? I mean, this is smaller than a las vegas shot at a fancy bar. Come on, if I ordered a side of chips, and I ask for salsa, hook it up!! i paid $20! The special burrito is a freak of nature. super big.... but the first few bites where all cor tortilla. ITs a good think, corn tortilla... but really its a big tortilla, first 5 bites i got no meat, i got the hiccups cause it was just mouthfuls of tortilla. I really thought this was going to be my regular spot. Nope! I ordered 2 gorditas with avocado. You know that is an extra charge. I also ordered a super burrito. It was late. I grabbed my food and then, had to pick up a few items at the store. When I arrived home about 30 minutes later, I realized that they forgot 1 of the "gorditas" with avocado. It was not a gordita. It was 2 medium sized flour tortillas smashed together with meat and cheese. I can't eat flour. When I specifically order an item I expect it to be exactly what the menu describes. I was charges about $36 for a fake gordita and a burrito!! What a rip-off!! If I could I would have reported a fraud charge to my bank. Unfortunately, this was a rare time I used cash. If I could give Zero stars I would! We have been to this location a couple years back and remembered it was good so we decided to stop to get something to eat on the way home. $28 for a torta is RIDICULOUS! The chicharon taco plate was so dry and bland. $70 for 2 people is insane for a small taqueria. Everything is overpriced and not surprised why no one was in there. We went to order food for 8 ppl. The prices are very high for a little taqueria. I ordered a taco plate and the lady asked if I wanted onions and I said sure. She charged me $1.25 for a few chopped on. I asked her for some chips and she said it would be $6. I said we just ordered dinners for 8ppl and she looked at me and said $6. So this place is epically good. These people giving 1 or 2 stars have something wrong with them. It's not healthy food but it is delicious. They have some options that aren't that commonly available like brisket. Best carne asada I've had in the US. A little expensive, but you get a lot for what you pay for. You can over order very easily. For a group you can under order a little and have plenty of food. I would pay the extra for normal size portions as the taste is awesome. The guiltier the item the better. This is not healthy food, just healthy portions of killer food. For the tacos, they come partially put together but the condiment/salsa bar has everything to finish them to your preference. Salsa is pretty good but the other stuff is more of the star here. Worse tacos and burritos we have ever had. For many years my two boys and I have been driving all the way down to Gilroy, to the original TACOS AMECA, never have we been disappointed with anything we have ordered. Spring break 2024 boys wanted to drive down for lunch one day and have Tacos at TACOS AMECA, I decided to try TACOS AMECA 3 in Morgan Hill. WOW what a mistake. I ordered my regular, Tacos de cabeza, one of my boys ordered a simple beans and cheese burrito and my older son ordered a chicken super wet burrito. I should have known that something was not right, when we drove up there was tons of parking, only a couple of customers. We are used to seeing the original TACOS AMECA always full of customers and parking not existent. I should of drove off. My taco was the worse cabeza I have ever had, how can you go wrong with a cheese and bean burrito, my son's comment, this is worse than my school's burrito. The wet burrito was just ok. Seems that the staff was bothered that we were there. Hopefully the AMECA management will correct this. We will continue to make the drive to Gilroy when we want good Mexican food. Ok so i live in San Jose and came to this location because their food is great. So i order my food wit the cashier guy and i paid for my food. But i realized my total was $37 and some change. And i thought it was overly expensive for just me. So i seen the cashier over charged me. And i let him know right away... KINDLY. And he stayed quiet and started refunding me. Which i thought he was just gonna refund me for the $17.99 taco plate. Because i never order that. But what he actually did was he refunded my whole order and he added back the food that i actually wanted to begin with. Which was $17 and some change. And i told him I'll by do i gotta pay AGAIN for a mistake u made. I was confused. Because first of all it takes about 3-5 business days to get ur money back to your bank account. Second why didn't he just refunded the $17.99. And lastly why couldn't he explain this to me first instead of doing any type of refund. I was highly upset. Because although i will get my refund back in couple days i didn't want to be charged $54.51 in less then 5 mins. The cashier guy didn't apologize once to me. The hand made tortillas here are easily the best here. At $2.80 a pop, the tacos are definitely the best thing on the menu. They even come with an extra tortilla. The tacos are served with just the tortilla and meat but they are of generous size and portions. You'll have to go to the salsa bar to add any complementary onions, cilantro, salsa, or beans . They offer a great selection of meat including suadero, chicharron and lengua, if you're into that sort of thing. Aside from that, there are couple more caveats that bring down their awesome tortillas. Avocado and cheese cost extra. There is a $8 minimum charge for credit cards. It's tough to fully enjoy the tacos unless you eat it there to take advantage of the salsa bar. To go salsa containers are way too small. The place can get a bit crowded and messy at times. The decor does not match the food at all (this place used to be a very generic sandwich shop), but all of this can be easily forgiven. Just make sure you try their tortillas and stock up at the salsa bar. read more

OMGGGGGG...The carnitas is heaven on earth. We wanted to try this location since it's closer to San Jose than the original or #2 both in Gilroy. Tried #1 on our way to Vegas, Saturday and tried #3 in Morgan Hill Tues.. Absolutely no different in flavor, I had the nachos with carnitas for $10.00 and hubby had the taco plate with carnitas for $12.00, lol my nachos had hella meat for two dollars less. The flavor of the carnitas is wonderful and they make sure to get it crispy which only adds to the deliciousness of the meat. The staff, very accommodating, friendly and polite. Condiments, drinks other than the horchata you help yourself so refills are free, but don't come here because we found it and we don't need longer lines here...lol read more

Placed an order on the phone ahead for a wet quesadilla with tripe and add on avocado came without onions. The person who answer the phone didnt understand english well. She kept insisting chicken to me when I said I didn't want chicken. She finally got my order right after 5 minutes back and forth. Came to find out I still had to get in line and order again for them to make it. Don't make sense to take order on the phone when you have to get in line and order again and wait like others. After I had paid, the cashier tell me no tripe today. They told me pick another meat to replace my tripe. Disappointed, they should have told me earlier. End up choosing carne asada instead. I used to LOVE this place! Told everyone it was the best Mexican around but lately it hasn't been the same! First of all the Chile verde recipe is different now. WHYYY?!! It was perfect! Seriously the best I'd had and y'all went and changed it! It's not as saucy or flavorful now :( I've tried it multiple times hoping it was just an off day but it's not the same so I don't get it anymore. I got food here last weekend and they aren't giving you the thick homemade tortillas anymore (well I didn't get one and I was supposed to but didn't realize until I got home) AND they keep increasing their prices. I still love the green salsa but I'm gonna have to pass on this place from now on. I hope you guys try to get back to how good you used to be! read more
