Loved the addition of cotija cheese on the nachos and the portion was huge, which I appreciated since they were not cheap. At the salsa bar they have 4 spicy options (2 green, 2 red), a pick de gallo with jalapeños, onion/cilantro, cucumbers, and cut limes. Chips are sold separately. They have inside seating and outside too. Some picnic tables by the road with a good amount of shade. Finally had the chance to stop by one of the Tacos Ameca # 1 spot. Man, was I sleeping when I pass through Gilroy! The food here is fire! I ended up getting a Super Wet Shrimp burrito. Great flavor with grilled shrimp! Nice red sauce either way a mild kick. Added more spicy salsa to get the kick I love on my food. Got a Pastor taco and this was larger than o expected. They serve you 2 flour tortillas with meat. You got to the topping bar to add everything else you would like. This was a very good stop finally! Easily, Hands Down, Thee BEST tacos I've ever had! As you walk in you see picnic tables set up, and all the hustle and bustle of the cooking to your left. Order counter is straight to the back. The menu is a little much but if you go in knowing what you want it should be easy. The prices are somewhat outrageous. $28 for a burrito?! And $4.85 a taco! Anyhow I ordered 4 tacos: (They come plain with all the fixings at the salsa bar) Asada: nice taste but dry as hell and my least favorite; I LOVE asada, pretty bummed. Pastor: This had a really great flavor, much different from a basic pastor. Carnitas: Wow! Really great flavor and didn't have that oily fried taste to it. I've seen the reviews and glad I tried. Sometimes you just have to wait for a good taco Handmade tortilla , a salad bar with very options of salsa that you can serve in your own, no limit on the lemon or cucumbers My only concern is sometimes you just have to wait in line and they're not too quick to get your order the menu is confusing but if you know, what are you gonna get you're good to go. My favorite is the tacos brisket, the ambience is used more loud and a lot of moving around and weekends. Here again at Amica's tacos for Sunday breakfast. Ordered the Menudo and it was actually pretty good just needed a little touch of salt. The pigs feet were cooked perfectly. Once you bite into it. It's just like butter so good. Added some oregano, onion, cilantro, cayenne chili, and a little lemon to taste to make it a bit more flavorful. Also ordered the Carne Asada Sope, which was a big portion and very filling, added some green guacamole sauce, and red sauce to top it off. And also ordered a quesadilla, which was very big. This one quesadilla was almost the size of two quesiberrias put together and consume is two dollars extra if you want some to dip your quesiberis in. and of course, I had to get the corn tamales to finish off my meal with a tasty dessert Sorry but whoever made the corn tamales today really fell short. The best part is the unlimited salsa bar with huge slices of cucumber, many salsas, onions, and limes. The tortillas were fresh made, you can taste the care that went into them. Restaurant has plenty of seating. Service was better than most places. They regularly restock the salsa bar and keep it clean. Parking lot is small and gets busy. Everything sucked. The lady taking my order was very blunt, she seemed very irritated. My order was wrong twice and the food was extremely salty. I then bought some chips which were 7 dollars kind of crazy but I bought them anyways. I have been going to this place for 11-2 years. They had gone to smaller portions but seems like they are going back to their super big portions. The food is amazing as always. When you get 2 tacos you always get an extra tortilla for the extra meat. Flavors are on point and they cook right in front of you. The most open kitchen you will ever see. My absolute favorite spot for tripa tacos. Extra crispy! Everything I've had here was delicious. The only problem is it's a little pricey. Come here on the weekends. It's packed, everyone has beers, and there's live karaoke/band. Love it. Their ameca burrito is absolutely massive. This took about 20 minutes since it's made with handmade corn tortilla. We called a friend asking for recommendations for the best tacos in Gilroy and this was his go-to spot. Hands down the best tacos we've had in a while! The restaurant was busy but a solid flow of both sit-down and takeout patrons. The wait to order wasn't long at all and the wait for food was maybe 10 minutes. They offer a great sauce bar with to-go cups to fill while you're waiting, and there's a good amount of seating. We tried the Tacos Dorados and the Alambre, both were excellent! The tacos were crunchy, meat was tender and juicy, and the toppings were fresh. The Alambre was absolutely fantastic - chorizo was a good amount of salt, lots of cheese, the onions and peppers were crunchy, and it arrived on a hot skillet. It was an average Tuesday night when I went in so it wasn't busy nor too loud. The prices online do not reflect the prices in store at all. The burrito isn't $12 after tax. It's $21!!! I placed an order over the phone and expected to pay about $20 in total for my food I ended up paying $45!!!! Horrendous experience. Never coming back. If they want legit restaurant sit down prices then bring the servers and bussers and the whole shebang I also called ahead and said I was going to be there in 15 mins and she said the food would be ready then. False. I had to wait an additional 15 mins. I also asked for the burrito to be of flour tortilla but they gave me corn. Beware of false prices online and a long wait. Incredibly disappointing and will NEVER return. I regret spending my money here. I asked why they haven't fixed the prices online to show the real price and the cashier said I wasn't the first to bring it to their attention. Finally got my taco fix in Cali. Visiting from out of town headed down from San Jose to Gilroy, my BFF found this place on Yelp. We needed food and gas and saw this little gem off the beaten path. We HAD to try this taco place after seeing numerous reviews on line and it didn't disappoint! Note: the parking lot is teeny tiny and "0" street parking around the building. We noted as of 5/3/25: tacos were priced at about $4.80 each. It made sense to purchase the 4 'taco plate' for $19.95, which we did, but you can only order ONE MEAT, but it comes with a decent helping of rice and beans. We got the asada and saved some change ordering this way. This isn't a fancy establishment, they have plain seating inside and wood benches outside in a good sized patio (no heaters). You wait for your number to be called and pick up your food. We got extra avocado, grilled onions and chilies paid extra for the items. The serve-yourself salsa bar has all the goodies you need: cilantro, numerous salsas, limes, etc. The meat was marinated, thinly sliced larger pieces (NOT diced), and quite flavorful. The tortillas appear to be handmade (not from a package). We would eat here again when in the area. The employees keep the place pretty clean and they have open bathroom for guests! read more
