I've called a number of times before they switched owners and once after. The new owner Noe, he heard me out last time and gave me a 50% off discount, I really enjoy the food here it's great actually. Unfortunately it's the service I receive every single time I dine here. It hasn't improved, if you don't sit at the bar you will be ignored even if you make eye contact. I'm done making complaints to the owner and whoever owns it next. Also, the owner sat right behind me as I waited for a waitress to refill my water for over 25 minutes, in my opinion a great owner who wants to go the extra mile for their customers will JUMP to satisfaction. I guess not with Tacos & beer. Again everyone reading this, GREAT food. TERRIBLE service, prepare to be ignored and unattended for well over 20 minutes. Disappointed! The place was not busy. The waitress was nice.However, it took over 30 minutes to serve our food. They have the audacity to serve what's pictured below. That's not a taco, that's leftovers. It felt like a slap in the face considering the price. read more

Very unprofessional place, no one ever answers the phone for orders & take forever just for one meal . So many other complaints from many other people , they are super RUDE and UNFAIR to employees . For my experience here at tacos and beers didn't reach my expectations, the employees don't have any kind of friendly customer service skills/ rude to women but to the men they have a different tone . The bathrooms are extremely unpleasant to the smell and dirty . No toilet paper was stocked no handsoap. And to top it off My beer glass was still dirty and has lip stick stains ...! I tried to like the place but just couldn't ! Nearly most of their foods weren't available just aweful ! If i could put zero stars i would. read more

Great menu. Deep fried sushi blew my mind away. The service was excellent. Multiple TV's playing all the NFL games on a Sunday. I was extra salty after a sour round of golf. This place lifted my spirits. read more

Tacos & Beer, with Some Weird Sushi? A Great Place For Friends to Hang Out - A hidden gem in Madera that was devastated by Covid closures and staffing issues is making a comeback with incredible food as just a fun place for the community to hang out with friends and neighbors. I'm talking about Tacos and Beer on Avenue 17 near Country Club. About a year ago, I was in the process of writing a review on this place after we picked up a tray of what they call "sushi", then the location closed for a while before I got a chance to try their tacos or beer. This week, I was able to get back and check out the rest of what they have to offer.  I have to say I do not understand how this place is not packed every night. The place has pool tables and dartboards with a state-of-the-art jukebox and televisions everywhere to watch whatever game is playing. I saw a plethora of beer taps, and their menu lists another dozen or so selections of bottled and canned beers. The food menu is filled with tacos and Mexican dishes made from traditional land-based meats (beef, chicken, and pork). Though it looks like they specialize in seafood tacos which is ironic considering what they call sushi does not seem to include anything close to seafood. Let's address the sushi thing. What they offer is not sushi. It is not even close to what you might think of when you think of sushi; Sushi does not contain bacon or hamburger. If you order sushi from this place expecting traditional Japanese cuisine, you will be disappointed. I would almost prefer they did not even use the term "sushi" to describe what they offer because sushi it is not. Whatever it is, though, is very good. When we got our tray, I had to get out of the mindset that I was eating sushi. Once I did that, I realized that they had created a menu with rice, seaweed, traditional sushi sauces, and a wide variety of other items I would have never thought to use for sushi. We ordered five of their most popular rolls, and they were all delicious. There was nothing left by the time we were done with our tray, not even a crumb. So if you are someone that is afraid of REAL sushi with raw fish, this might be exactly what you are looking for. It is well worth the price and something we will order again. This place looks like a fantastic joint to hang out with friends after work to share a beer,  eat some great food and just relax and have some fun. Like everywhere nowadays, they are still experiencing some staffing issues but the staff I came into contact with were friendly and welcoming. It looks like they are not open on Sundays, but that could change if business picks up. I would highly recommend finding a babysitter and taking your partner to this fun, "new" place right here in Madera. read more

We tried this place last night and went for the sushi that they have overall it's kinda simple pool tables on one side bar in middle and seating on other side with bunch of TV's some music. Drink's seemed ok only saw couple people eating we ordered 2 sushi rolls 1 came out quick other took some time 1st was better than the 2nd our server was perky and always checking on us. We've been coming here since their grand opening and would recommend all our friends to go also. After our last few visits, I'm sad to say we won't be returning. The food tastes good, when they have all the ingredients available. But the service is terrible. Short staffed of cooks and waitresses. Makes the whole experience terrible. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here anymore. I don't see them lasting much longer with their current operating plan. read more

We don't live out here, but my in laws do, so we pass this place a lot. Me, and my wife decided to try it out. I was surprised when we walked in. The place was real clean, and the bartender came to our table with menus pretty fast. We actually came to see if it would be a good place to watch football the next day. He told us they were closed on Sunday, and Mondays. He took the time to answer questions we had about the food that they served. Overall we liked the place, and will be back! read more

Okay so this is my third time here, and I'm Reviewing as a restaurant not bar. Never reallly had "meskin" sushi before, buT compared to other sushi spots (even in fresno) I must say that every time I've been here so far the service has been friendly, the food doesn't take long, and they are quick on service to ask if you need anything. I would feel this is a good place for people who are new To sushi as well, combining cooked mEat in rolls wIth a mariscos style flare miXed in. The baCon in the "meat blue" added an expected unexpected deliciousness I've never had before. The rice isn't pressed to hard, yet hard enough where rolls stay together as you pick them up with chopsticks. Pool tables are they to serve as a way to kill time while waiting for food. Meat was seasoned to perfection, ala those cheese taco abominations my friend had ordered. If you're inn Madera, I would definitely recommend this spot. For tacos they might be a little expensive, but that's not what you're going to be coming here for after u have the sushi. Bone Apple teeth!! read more

The food was good I got the sushi shrimp and crab, my husband got lengua tacos. The service really SUCKED!! We sat at the bar waited about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, gave us menus then another five minutes before she took our order. Gave me a bottled beer instead of a draft would have figured that draft would be first choice. Finished my bottle then asked another staff member do you have this beer on draft? He gave me the beer on draft. I don't know about anyone else but when I go to a bar I like draft. If I wanted bottle I would drink at home. Go for the food but don't expect great service. Our server was more interested in speaking to the men guest instead of helping the couple guests that probably would have tipped her great. read more

This place just opened so we popped in to check it out. Really happy to say it exceeded expectations. We live off club drive and there arent that many food options out this way. Ordered a couple mexican style sushi rolls and a michelada, everything was really good. Will definitely be back. Complimentary chips with salsa and beans as well. read more
