The dude and I found this spot El Epazote Cocina in Madera and been eyeing to try it. Since I work at a school and had a break, I decided to try this spot with the dude and Kenny on his lunch break and I'm really glad we did. The staff was welcoming, kind, and genuinely warm from the start. As a vegetarian, the food was DELICIOUS. I ordered a mushroom dish that was resembled like a quesadilla but way more elevated. Flavorful, rich, and done right. You can tell the owner and staff take real PRIDE in their food. Everything tasted authentic, homemade, and thoughtfully prepared. No shortcuts, just quality. Such a solid spot in Madera. We'll definitely be back. Yummy food and serving sizes are fair too! If you haven't tried it then you are definitely missing out !! Sit on the patio and enjoy the view! You won't be disappointed at all!

We were on our way back to San Diego and wanted to stop by this place again. We first went when they opened and loved the food and of course the service. This time around, it was the same. Consosrency is challenging in the restaurant industry so it's much appreciated. Maria, was amazing as she was last time. The bowl we had was fresh and tasty!

On our way from Sacramento to Madera to pick up my daughter, we made a quick stop at El Epazote... and let me tell you, BEST decision ‍ Ordered a michelada and a tlayuda and everything was the flavor, the seasoning, the meat... ufff, too good My boyfriend got fries and even those were on point. The place is small but super clean and cozy, and the service was amazing our waitress was so kind and attentive the whole time If you're ever in the area, don't think twice... 100% recommend

    Sweet patio!

What what? I have not put comments here yet? Right on the corner of Gateway and fourth Street Walking distance from City Hall and from Madera Ford if you're truck is being serviced :-) The food here has always been excellent... The burritos, huevos à la Mexicana, Agua Fresca, to the handmade tortillas... And don't forget their Horchata! Excellent food for pick up, and great service at the tables as well This is a top spot in Madera for sure And to top it off they are actually open for breakfast! Quick stop off and on highway 99 as well! Much like my favorite place in Berkeley to have Mexican food at La Mission, I believe this is a former old school Taco Bell building with a cute patio outside and tables inside as well You should stop in whenever in the area... I know I do!

First time here and absolutely loved our food and service! We ordered the quesadilla huitlacoche and the chilaquiles con salsa verde! The highlight for me was the flavorful chilaquiles with carne, delicious churros and loveddd my cafe de olla. We will definitely come back again and can't wait to try the rest of their savory dishes!

This is not the first time we make an intentional stop. El Epazote restaurant serves traditional Mexican food from the Oaxaca region.

The three plates we ordered were really good. We recently visited Oaxaca and we were craving the food, it did not disappoint. The mole was sweet and flavorful. Will definitely go back.

The Molcajete was the standout dish of the night. It arrived sizzling hot and loaded with perfectly cooked meats, seafood, fresh vegetables, and a rich, savory sauce that tied everything together. It was hearty, flavorful, and easily one of the best Molcajetes I've had. The mussels were another favorite. Honestly, everything tasted like it came straight out of someone's mother's kitchen--in the best way possible. The food had that homemade, comforting quality that's hard to find these days. The portions were generous, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere had that cozy, family-owned feel that makes you want to come back again.

As soon as we looked over the menu, my mouth was already watering. We ordered the aguachiles verdes, the molcajete supreme, and I added a side of fries. When I say the food came out fast, I mean FAST, especially for food this fresh. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and checked in just enough without being overbearing. The aguachile was honestly one of the best I've had. The green sauce was incredibly flavorful, perfectly balanced, and everything tasted fresh and vibrant. The molcajete supreme did not disappoint. The sauce was rich and delicious, and the portion of carne and shrimp was generous and very satisfying. You can tell care goes into the food here. And somehow, even the fries were amazing .... crispy, hot, and the perfect side. If you're passing through on your way to Yosemite, this place is absolutely worth the stop. We'll definitely be back.
