I usually come here pretty often and I'm a regular, normally ordering their mole or menudo. Yesterday though, my experience was really disappointing. The food didn't taste as flavorful as it usually does, and the chicken was definitely overcooked...hard to even chew through. On top of that, the service was rude. I asked the lady for lemon since my plate didn't come with any (it normally does) and she seemed bothered by the request. She even tried charging me and then only gave me one tiny slice. Later, I politely asked if I could switch to flour tortillas instead of corn and she gave me attitude, saying I should've told the first server. Then she came back less than a minute later with the same corn tortillas I gave her and claimed they didn't have flour tortillas, which I know isn't true. What bothered me the most was how she ignored me afterwards but went to other tables multiple times to ask if they were okay. I felt completely brushed off as a customer. Sadly, between the loss of flavor in the food and the poor attitude, I won't be coming back anymore. read more

Picking up lunch for my son he say they have 1 of the best Menudo in Madera. It was very crowded on Sunday, but I must say that the wait was not that long.. It's a nice clean and spacious. Freon what I could see the food must be very good there was a large amount of people dining in and a large amount of people waiting to pick up your order. My first time, I wanted to try something new instead of my standard Carne Asada. Usually I order something with Carne Asada the first time I visit to gauge the overall vibe of the place. I went Pastor instead. I should've went with my first instinct. That said, maybe it was the burrito and how they made it. They put a ton of rice and beans. I should've told them to go light. How was I supposed to know anyways? They put very little meat, felt like I was eating a rice burrito. Anyways, I don't wanna give up on this place yet. MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR FOOD!! There was a big rock inside my gf's burrito that could've costed her teeth. Best believe there would've been consequences if that were to happen! The people working at this restaurant need to pay attention to what they're doing when making the food. Plus this place is slow even when placing an order on the phone. I came to Marantha since it had really good reviews. I came during my lunch break around 12:50pm and this place was semi packed. I walked in and scanned the wall menu. A woman was speaking to me in Spanish and I'm not bilingual but I know basic Spanish. I informed the woman in Spanish that my Spanish is not good and requested if she can speak English to me. She continued to speak Spanish. Ask me if my order is to go or for here in Spanish and I informed her in Spanish, if she can't speak English does someone else in the restaurant can?? So she goes and gets someone else for me who speaks English. Finally I order my food which is the burrito pictured that came with raddish and jalapeño. It was good but nothing to brag about. You must know some Spanish to communicate at this establishment or else you will be frustrated and your order could be wrong. I prefer to speak English since my Spanish is limited. I would highly recommend this restaurant to have someone who speaks bilingual to do orders for those who speak English. Because I know English only people do come here. I'll probably will not return. I'll stick to my favorite Mexican restaurants in Fresno. read more

Went here a nearly a year ago and the service was HORRIBLE! Me and my sister went here for lunch on a weekend it was a little busy. Two big parties of families who came after us had got there food served to them and left while we were still waiting to get our order taken. I asked the waitress what was going on and she said they forgot to take our order. I walked out after an hour of waiting. I honestly felt discriminated against here. This is THE spot for chicken tacos or burritos. Don't get me wrong, the other proteins are excellent as well, but the chicken is the best I've ever had in Mexican food. The tortillas are made in house. I recently spent a week overseas, and the first meal I wanted back home was chicken tacos from Maratha. We were on a very long road trip and stopped in to grab a bite thinking it would just be a standard taco shop. One sip of the horchata and I knew they had quality food. Best horchata I've ever had. We ordered some tacos, the caldo de pollo and Chile Relleno and they were all excellent. My son ordered a shrimp cocktail and he said it was pretty "mid" but that was his fault for ordering seafood at a taco shop so I'm not lowering the rating for that. Seriously good food. Tried this restaurant by chance on my way north from LA. Very clean and bright. He building stands alone in an industrial area really. The staff was really polite and happy. Wife had tacos and I had flautas--both were really good. The flauta pastry was fresh and flaky, not oily or rubbery. Meat is excellent. Beans were really flavorful. Good tacos at a good price. I tried the chorizo, chili verde, and carne asada tacos and they were all good. Great heat level on the chili verde, spicy! Yum. I got mine to go and the heat stayed well sealed making the tortillas a little floppy but they didn't fall apart when I ate them minutes later still warm. I had good service with the front lady asking me about salsas and I don't speak strong Spanish. Good experience and I would come back for more $2 tacos. read more

The food here is really good. I ordered the fajitas and they were a meal for two. Quality and tasty meats, fresh peppers and onions. Great. Tortillas were fresh. Chips were wow, made fresh. My daughter had a veg burrito, said it was wow! So why not five stars? I will tell you why. I know they are everywhere here in the central valley, but those pesky little blacks fly's are not good in a restaurant. I know, I know, I visit here a lot, their maddening, but figure a way out. I have seen all the great reviews for the food so i came to check it out. I had coffee and a chile relleno combo plate n my friend had 5 tacos. First off we came here for breakfast, there was one other table already seated. Our waitress wasn't the friendlist but who cares I'm here for the food right. My coffee came and it was too strong, i still drank it. The food came out pretty quick. The chile relleno is topped with alot of cotija cheese, this cheese is stinky n salty so it didnt need to have so much on top. Needless to say the Chile relleno tasted salty due to the cheese overload. The beans were luke warm n needed salt the rice was bland and you could tell it was not freshly made. This plate came with three big home made corn tortillas no doubt these are bomb.com however the towel they were wrapped in was not clean so it looked like it was used for another table them used for me. These were not stains either it was chile finger stains. I was only able to eat 1/4 of the tortilla since i could not get the tought of somone stranger touching my napkin with licked fingers. The tacos looked good we did not get any salsa to go with them.not sure if i was suppose to ask for it. He said the tacos were ok. They did look good. I asked for a to go box so i can give my food to the kids, since they eat anything, the waitress said u need a napkin there is a mosquito inside. I did see a dead small gnat in one of the compartments. I took a very deep breath and used my napkin to sweep it out but that caused me to smash it n i had to use some elbow grease to clean out the black mark that the gnats body made in the box. All mean while the waitress looked on.she should have hone to get me a new box. I put the lettece that no one will eat in that compartment. So i tried the food and realized that everybody's perception of good food is not the same. Had i gotten a friendly waitress i might have came back. I will not come back.
