So, this is the second time at Tacos Brothers. The first was at their trucks previous location. You can always judge a food truck by how long you have to wait and we were there about 20 minutes on a Sunday night. Between drive ups and uber orders they were very busy when we went. I tried a dish I hadn't before, but the recommendations I'd make is still the breakfast burritos. The kind where you'd have a second one just because the first was SO GOOD. I still had pics of the previous visit so I included them too! Im impressed with their portions and fairly full menu here. The only "negative" was the carne asada on our Sopes was too oily. Unfortunately, as of today, this is no longer my favorite go-to taco bus. When the owner is not working, the quality of food definitely goes down. I've been going to this taco bus for about four years now and I get the same things: carne asada burrito and carne asada tacos, so it's pretty easy for me to taste the difference in quality. I travel all the way on the other side of town and skip all of the other taco buses on the way because I considered this one the best; however, today, I realized it is only when the owner is working. Today I got the same old carne asada burrito I've been ordering for years. I took one bite, and everything was off... so I dissected it cause I was so disappointed that I couldn't eat it: here's why; the Mexican rice was hard and crunchy, and the carne asada was mixed with another meat. It was wayyyyy too soft to be carne asada and the texture of the meat just fell apart as it was very stringy. It also tasted like pork. It's sad but I felt duped. For $20 (15% tip included), it was probably the worst carne asada burrito I've ever eaten. The Mexican rice was so undercooked it was hard to eat cause all I tasted was crunchy undercooked rice. You can see on the picture that there were multiple pale pieces of the undercooked rice. Also, they were very stingy on the meat. Now, I know they've opened another location and their business is thriving, and I am soooo proud of them for that. However, it's sad that I gotta find a new taco bus to fix my carne asada burrito cravings. I wish the owner well in his business! Came by, nobody else there when I arrived. Wanted to order pupusas but told none were available today. Decided on a alambre, a maximo burrito with asada, regular burrito with asada and two carnita burritos. Food took a while to be prepared. Once I got to my destination to eat, I opened the bag to find out I received no tortillas to eat with my alambre. A bit disappointed because I dont want to drive all the way across town. The torta was loaded I mean omg I am a big guy and can eat quite a bit but that torta alone filled me up for the remainder of the day. It was chorizo and pork I believe. A slice of ham and pineapple with cheese on top. Lettuce tomato and topped with avocado. A lot of avocado. My wife finished half of hers and put the rest on the plate. That's when I realized how big this thing really was once it was sitting on the plate. Now most taco trucks burritos are pretty large but this one packs a punch. Loaded with meat and rice. So many flavors that just go so well together. I told my husband that I don't want a fancy dinner for my birthday just get me the Asada fries from taco brothers.
