This was hands-down, the worst experience ever since we moved to the Olympia area. My daughter and I were deliberately ignored by the lady that runs the taco stand, even though there was nobody else in line in front of us. I actually could not believe that that was happening, she deliberately looked at me and never even once said, can I take your order the man that was cooking noticed this, but didn't help us. I don't know if this was a race racist or hate type of crime but that's what it felt like since I am a Caucasian woman and so is my daughter. It was a very big burrito, imo. You can see the amount of leftovers. Couple of issues.. I ordered a California I thought a burrito before and it came with french fries.. I'm not sure my burrito came with french fries inside it. Also you might want to consider updating your menu board with prices. I think you are charging more than what's on the actual printed menu board currently. The person that helped me was nice. Absolutely love this place! Portions are good and good tastes amazing. Been coming here for over 15 years and will keep coming back! Prices have gone up a bit and sadly I cant justify the drive to get it more than once or twice a year anymore. The staff is always nice and friendly. Food is made to order and never cold. They've added tables and other such seating, including a standing area to make ordering easier. They've added tables also added some raised garden beds making it nice and comfortable. Unfortunately, I had such a bad experience I felt the need to share this. There are so many taco trucks in the area it makes no sense to go to one that does not have integrity or value their customers. I arrived, ordered $100 worth of food, including tip. To start, I ordered all the sides. I did this so I didn't forget anything as I bought for 8 people. I am not over exaggerating when I say, after every single thing I ordered, the woman kept attempting to finalize my order. To the point I had to stop and let her know my order would be large. I order a large side of rice and beans for the very first thing. She told me my total and started to walk away like all I was gonna order was a large side of rice and beans. That goes on and I finally complete the order. I politely asked if she could read my order back, as she did her thing again where she gave me a total and started to walk away. At this point I'm a little annoyed as she was rushing the entire order. It's not even 4pm at this point, there was no line.. As if I was asking her to recite the entire menu she blasted through what I ordered. Including the rice and beans. Then points and says I could've looked myself on their payment screen, which I honestly didn't realize was a touchscreen. I drive 25 mins home and, of course, no large side of rice and beans. So I "happily" drive 25 mins back to the taco truck. Let her know I didn't get the rice and beans from my order. Her only response was "you didn't pay for any". Not a "I apologize sure let me see what happened", not "let me look at that for you". She immediately knew what I was gonna have an issue with. She starts to look for my receipt after I contested and let her know I ordered rice and beans. I tell her "the first thing I ordered was a large side of rice and beans, and you tried finalizing my order and told me my total and everything". She says; "I know".. I said" so you removed it for me no reason? She says: " yes sir". At this point I'm visibly upset. Why waste my time? Why waste my money? She got upset because I asked to read back my order? I asked Why? And she mumbled something I could not even make out. Then says "so do you want some rice and beans". I could not leave fast enough. 1. I don't need any handout, and wasn't there for a freebie. I wanted what I ordered. 2. I'm not giving you any more of my money at this point.. I wish I could tip after receiving my food like everywhere else. I know this is long, but I urge anyone reading, don't waste your time. Coming from San Diego and having some of the best Quesabirrias around, I was SO excited to eat some good birria. The reviews were good, so we stopped here on our trip to Olympia. Man, I was so disappointed when I took my first bite and had nothing but greasy cheese in my mouth. I turned to look at my husband and the first thing he said about his California burrito was, "this is all cheese." I opened the piece up and you can basically see the few pieces of birria. It was like those commercials with the old ladies... WHERE'S THE BEEF?! The second slice was exactly the same. For $13, this was nuts. The third slice had more birria, but by then, I had already dissected the first two and was starting to get grossed out. TBH, the amount of grease from the cheese was just bad. Let's talk about the birria itself. Let's say this was great birria, I at least got two slices with great birria! But it wasn't. It was flavorless and a little on the tough side. Maybe I'm biased because I've had amazing birria, both beef and goat. And maybe for people who don't know what birria taste like, this stuff is amazing! But if you know the familiar smell of slow cooked birria, you know mediocre when you taste it. I hate to write bad reviews, but after spending $40 bucks here, I need to say my peace. The good: They were quick after we ordered (they did not acknowledge or speak to us for a good 5 minutes while we stood waiting for them), they were friendly and the seating area was clean. Amazing. I can't believe I am just now finding this taco truck. I got taco combo which came with 2 carne asada tacos, rice and beans. My combo was so delicious!! I got my husband a leguna burrito and it was huge!! He said it even tasted great the next day because he couldn't finish the whole thing so he saved half for later. When we're in the area, we will definitely coming here again for dinner!!! It was a little awkward and difficult to get into the parking lot, and parking is limited. I'm giving 3 stars. I love the food that is made from these trucks, but the hassle, headache and general frustration surrounding the online ordering contributes greatly to this low rating. On now countless occasions, my orders have been completed incorrectly. I don't believe anyone is reading the information provided in the special instructions. I ask for Salsa Verde on the side they put it on my taco or I get red sauce or nothing at all. I ask for a side of sour cream and I get a big blob slapped right in the middle of all the tacos. Several times I have ordered from a specific location and my order is sent to a different one or completely lost. Some of this may have to do with the delivery service, but some of it is definitely on the employees. I don't want to go somewhere else, the food is good and the price is right, but I'm at my wits end and don't always have the time to drive to one if the trucks and get my food. Again great food, but the online ordering portion just sucks. read more

I am so unhappy today with Tacos California. I usually love this place and have no problem dropping way more money than I ever do at other taco restaurants and trucks. I am so disappointed today because I ordered 6 tacos 3 being cow tongue, (upcharge) all with sour cream(also an up charge.) I ordered a side of extra sauce ( the tacos are suppose to come with sauce AND pico de gallo, which both were absent from all 6 tacos!) when I got home, I was sad to see all 6, just meat and sour cream. Good thing I ordered extra sauce!!!! I had to use what I had at home; ice burg lettuce and red onion with their one slice of lime provided to improvise. Their garnish was sparse as well. I roped them. Turns out they skipped the Pico de gallo on the California Burrito also! How ? If they were out they should have told us. I guess I'm back to checking my order like a drive thru at their window since the trust is gone. Update: I don't see any cilantro, or onions and that's what I meant when I said Pico. Both were absent from BOTH of the plates of food ordered. Like I said, if I EVER go back or EVER recommend this stop to anyone I will be sure to double check the food, like I would at McDonalds. This is one of my favorite taco trucks. Everything is flavorful and well-seasoned. The meat is always cooked perfectly. The tortilla is never dry or stale. The veggies and toppings always fresh. As a bonus, they even have tripitas and lengua, things I can't find even in most restaurants. Their food trucks are pretty much fixtures in the area, a testament to how popular they've become. I had some of the best tacos carnitas I've ever had at this little mobile stand. You could tell they were popular by the steadiness of the mid afternoon crowd. I spent most my childhood in southern California----and "man-o-man" the burrito I ate took me back, I started reminiscing of old times and almost cried! The prices are decent and the food is delicious. I ordered the burrito and it was huge (I ate it for 2 meals). My husband bought tacos which he loved and they smelled amazing. The only thing I could possibly complain about is that the patio area is sort of close to the street and near a busy intersection. It didn't really bother me but if you have small children who like to wander about, I'd be worried - however, take-out is still an option for this. read more

I ordered the supreme burrito it had no veggies, a tablespoon each of guacamole, cheese and sour cream... the rest was old tasting meat, rice and some bean rapped in a 14" Tortilla ....! my fiancé's fajitas was just as bad tortilla shell apart because they put the meat-mix directly on the tortilla shells and wrap the entire dish in aluminum foil by time we got home everything fell apart ‍ This used to be one of our favorite taco trucks it now serves mess and a waste of time, gas & money....!!! read more

I again look to yelp for some places to visit here in Washington and was intrigued by the reviews for California Tacos. For somebody new to the area, I drove and drove and drove around Fred Meyer (a supermarket) parking lot looking for California Tacos and could NOT find them. Finally, when I decided to have lunch at Pho Vy (again) THERE IT WAS! DO NOT let the "operating from a mobile truck" facade of this place fool you. After all, haven't you seen the reality show where GOURMET cooks run their business from a mobile truck? Well, California Tacos is THAT, personified (minus the drama of reality TV)! The taste of the food is TRULY EXCELLENT. Hands down THE BEST tacos I have ever tasted. I mean, when I ordered my three chicken tacos and bean and rice combo (for under $7) there were three customers in front of me and two of them are Latin Americans! That should have given me a clue to the treat I was in for. C'mon, wouldn't you go to a Chinese restaurant that has a LOT of Chinese or at least Asian customers eating? I rest my case. I repeat: HANDS DOWN THE BEST TACOS I HAVE HAD! It boggles my mind why people in Lacey (where it is actually situated) and Olympia would want to go to Taco Bell when they have this GEM of a taco truck? TIP: If you ever get lost trying to find this, locate where Pho Vy is and it is DIRECTLY across the street from them. The burritos are HUGE and full of meat, beans, and a whole lot of cheese. It is flimsy though, so you really have to attack that thing with fork and knife. Hit the gym after that one. Two tacos were more than filling for me, and mine were topped with generous servings of carne asada and pork carnitas, balanced with fresh onions and cilantro on top and radishes, lime, and pickled carrots on the side. My review based on a single beef taco - Excellent. I've never been to Mexico. I've been told by an actual friend of Mexican descent that I'm a not-very-good judge of Mexican truck food. So take what I say with a grain of salt. I liked it. I've had bad truck food, I've had good truck food, and this is among the best. I'm anxious to get back and try a few other things on the menu. Next to the Chase, Fred Meyer, Donuts. If you can see those three things, you can see the truck.
