These pupusas and fried plantains are amazing! I don't think I've had any this good since leaving South Florida 4 years ago. I was a little worried about the price, but you are definitely getting your money's worth. I ordered online, and when I got home, I saw I was missing an item. Unfortunately, they were about 30 mins to close, so I didn't have time to go back for the item, but when I called, I was able to come back the next day. There are lots of vegetarian options, super great service, and I am super excited to go back! read more

Pretty good! I ordered the combination plate (D.) which is two pupusas with rice and beans. Pupusas were amazing! Rice and Beans are just okay. Beans were on the salty side and there was a burnt taste to them. I also ordered a horchata, which was good. Ordered to go and the food is made FRESH so it did take about 15-20 mins before I got the order. Please be aware that it does take sometime. It's very quite and calm inside. I went when they weren't very busy. I'd definitely come again. It was $17. read more

The food is very good. The entire feel is that it is a family restaurant, serving you the same food as you would get at their home. It is a nice little spot to sit and have dinner. Some times the place is packed, which tells you something. Perhaps call to see how busy they are? Or take out. read more

This is the kind of place you go when you HAVE TONS OF PATIENCE AND LOTS OF TIME TO WASTE. My son and I came in here for dinner and it took about15 minutes for anyone to even come to our booth to give us a menu. It took another 15 to get our order taken. We wanted chips and salsa and drinks before our meal but they came out with our drinks about 15 minutes later. I get that it is homemade food but 45 min to even get chips and drinks was a little rough, honestly. We had lots to catch up on so we dealt with it but it was cold inside (I kept my down jacket on during the entire meal) and kind of loud in there too with someone in the booth behind us playing music loudly from their phone. There are also kind of odd decorations ...streamers and decorations from the Car movie...kinda felt like I was at a kids bday party. It was on the hour mark that we finally got our food. Anyway, on to the food. It was outstanding. It was delicious and plentiful and my son and I both really enjoyed what we had. I won't be in a rush to go back for the aforementioned reasons but maybe someday if I have some patience and time I will stop by. read more

It's easy to pass but don't. I tried their pupusas a couple years ago, and wasn't impressed. I couldn't resist the craving anymore, so I reluctantly tried again and DAMN did they improve. We got pupusas revueltas (mixed), Jamaica, and tamarindo. Aguas frescas were a little sweet but flavor was there. The pupusas. My God. Their glorious combination of cheese, beans, and pork was stuffed to the max. Their salsa is smooth with a hint of spice and the curtido was decent. We'll definitely be coming back. read more

Forgot to take pictures cause we dug in but this place is delicious and affordable. I got the pupusas revueltas, carne asada tacos, and platanos Fritos (aka platanos maduros). All of it was delicious and only cost $33 before tip. The service was great. It's not too big, kind of a hole in the wall type place. Will definitely be coming back here often. I love pupusas! This little hole in the wall has the best pupusas in the Olympia area. I usually get three different pupusas, pile them high with curtido, with a generous squirt of the mild red salsa and chase it with a nice cold beer (this is the way to eat pupusas!). The people who run the place are really nice and I always leave with a smile on my face. read more

I'm glad that there was a pupuseria close to satisfy my cravings! I ordered a loroco pupusa and a spinach one, super fresh, buttery, and yummy. Rice and black beans were in big portions and perfect to take home for later snacks. The horchata was super creamy and fresh tasting as well. All the salsa and sauces were too spicy for me, but I'm a bit of a whimp. Fresh corn tortilla chips really hit the spot! The price was definitely right here! The staff in El Pulgarcito are friendly and eager to please. I had the black bean and cheese Pupusas. Muy delicioso! I also had a chicken tamal. It was good but would have been better with some sort of sauce on top. I didn't care for the coleslaw. I like it with more vinegar than is common in El Salvadoran cooking. Price was fair. Atmosphere in the restaurant was minimal but the food was tasty and seemed authentic to my friend who is from El Salvador. read more

Food is with the wait! And you will wait a long time especially if ordering pupusas they are made fresh each time and it's quite a complicated process. If you have time in tour day I would definitely recommend going I usually order a chicken tamal and a beer while I wait usually kills the hunger until my meal comes just ask for it to come out with the beer otherwise they'll bring it with your order. read more

So, we weren't looking for this place, but we were looking for something delicious on our way to Olympic National Park. And we found it! Talk about an amazing meal! Ordered something as simple as Carne Asada and was charged $15 for dry, unseasoned meat, shredded iceberg lettuce and tomato slices, white rice with peas and carrots (like Chinese food), and watery liquid beans. Avoid at all costs, or just burn $15 and order a pizza after. read more

It looks like these guys already have a couple highly rated locations in the Lakewood area. I did not know this. Anyway, it doesn't take a genius know when you are eating good food. Quality and flavor speak for themselves. El Pulgarcito II is a small, whole-in-the-wall establishment off of Lacey Blvd. It looks...okay, honestly, this place looks pretty crappy. I mean, the building itself is old and needs a good remodel and the interior isn't any better. But, I have learned that some of the worst-looking places serve some of the best food. If you don't believe me, go to Carolina's in Phoenix: http://www.yelp.com/biz/carolinas-mexican-food-phoenix When we walked in, there was a large party of about 12 Hispanics/Latinos all sitting at a big table in the middle of the place. Most of the booths were empty, but dirty. We managed to find one that had a few clean spots. I'm not sure how many people work here, because holy crap this place has SLOW service. Fortunately, they had a soccer game on, so I was mildly entertained. I don't really know how long it took, but I bet it was about 15-20 minutes until a girl came around to take our orders. I went with a pupusa combo and a side of platanos. I have had El Salvadoran food before at a place up in Seattle. It's good stuff, which is why I always look for these places. Everything at El Pulgarcito was great, but my one complaint is that I think the rice was a tad overcooked or something. Otherwise, my pupusas were excellent, along with the black beans, slaw, fried plantains, and corn tamale. The waitress forgot to bring us some water, but compensated this by offering us some free horchata which we gratefully accepted. So, yes, El Pulgarcito is pretty darn slow, but everyone there is very nice and can cook up some awesome El Salvadoran food. I highly recommend it. read more

Seriously good food made fresh and hot, and stayed that way all the way home. I loved the pork and cheese pupusas the best. The spinach and cheese and loroco and we're good too. Finding a Salvadoran restaurant is a nice change from regular Mexican food. Our favorite item is the pupusa. In this case, we were pleasantly surprised that they offered five varieties. We got the 3 pupusa combo with the standard cheese and pork, then tried the zucchini and cheese, and spinach and cheese. Combined with the rice and beans, the serving was definitely enough to feed two people. The staff was friendly and they own the grocery store right next store. We will make another visit here when we are back in town. read more

Oh! This place is on the pricier side, just so there's no sticker shock. The service was decent, but I'm pretty sure our papusas were dished up wrong, but such is life when they all look the same, the inside of the restaurant is all of we the place but super clean.

Was a bit bummed they had run out of tamales by the time we got there Saturday evening, but I am glad they have been busy. Definitely give it a try!
