When this place popped up on my radar, it reminded me of a place I liked called Silvero's or something to that effect, Silvero's was really good, but for some reason, no one was ever there, so I wasn't surprised to hear they had closed and again, thought this was the same location, but it was not. Rica Cocina has 20 reviews and a score of 4.9, so it was a must stop passing through town. Service was fast and friendly. A basket of chips was brought out with bean dip, then we were directed to a salsa bar in the back. The bar had 4 salsas. 2 red, 2 green. Both reds had a kick, but one was spicier than the other. Both greens were tart, with one having a little bit of a kick. We placed our order and waited for the food to come. While waiting, I saw a burrito served. It was the size of a football It was large and delicious, or at least looked that way. I watched the man who ordered it and he tapped out about 1/2 way through. I think I saw a burrito on the menu for about $17.50, I don't know if that was the one, but it was a self-contained meal that had to be at least 3 pounds! I had the carne asada, it came with a choice of bean. Black, Refried or Pinto, since the dip was refried, I went with pinto. Possibly the best pinto beans I've ever had. The steak was tender and generous portion and rice was moist and fluffy, also super tasty guacamole. It didn't come with a friend pepper, but I asked for one and it complimented the meal. This wasn't a plate; IT WAS A PLATTER! I have a couple knocks, but there guys are still getting 5 stars for service, overall flavor and value. The carne asada was advertised as "Bold Seasoning", it was not. I got some salt and that helped, but never advertise something as well seasoned when it's not. The water didn't have ice. Not a fan of room temperature water. You got a bar, I assume you have ice, ice me up. The salsa bar had 1 ounce condiment cups. That is way to small to dip a full-size chip in. Either get large washable cups or find a better presentation for the salsa. Great salsa, but it was impossible to get much on a chip. Compared to an experience we had earlier this week, this was night and day, but an example of how when you put customers first, it reflects in your review.

Margaritas are also delicious. We had the jalapeño cucumber margaritas which were refreshing with a bit of a kick from the jalapeños, but not too spicy. We had the quesabirria taco plates, which come with two tacos stuffed with tender beef and loaded with melty queso, refried beans and flavorful rice on the side and a cup of Birria consomè to dip the tacos in. Our food was fresh, hot, generously played and superbly delicious! Service was friendly, quick but not rushed. We came in on Cinco de Mayo and loved having fresh, authentic Mexican food. The Dino g room is lively and tastefully decorated. There are about a dozen tables and a couple booths. We will be back!

The chips were super fresh when I was there - they must have put out a batch moments before I walked in the door. There were three types of salsa, one red and two green (one mild and one spicier). All were tasty. It just so happened I was there during happy hour, so I sampled a few treats from the happy hour menu. The Tacos Dorados were awesome, so awesome that I know to order them immediately next time I visit. I also splurged a bit on the deep fried ice cream, which was very good. Overall, the vibe is fun, the service is very friendly, the prices are reasonable and I will definitely be going back again. Yay!

Husband and I got the refried bean and black bean tostadas because 3 of the 5 tacos offered were egg based. I normally wouldn't order vegetarian items, but I don't like chorizo or chicken fajitas which were the only meat options. The refried and black beans were definitely canned and no seasonings were added. The salsa was ok. The tortillas are touted as homemade but I highly doubt that. We also got the chips and guacamole and it was pretty good, but the chunks of avocado were so large we couldn't scoop it. No silverware was around to chop it up ourselves. Not great food by a VERY long shot, but the look of the restaurant is great. My suggestion is to get a chef involved to revamp the menu and upgrade the quality of the ingredients and their prep.
