Everything about this taco stand embodies excellence. There's of course, the flavor; these are some of the best al pastor tacos I've ever had. Of note, the salsa rojo at the self-serve condiment station carries quite the spicy sting. Next is the authenticity; they display their entire cooking process from homemaking the tortillas to serving the tacos fresh off the grill. It's occupied by two employees hustling away and running operations like a well-oiled machine. Despite arriving at the same time as two other customers, I had my order ready in 7 minutes. Last is the value. Part of what made my experience so enjoyable is only paying $12 for 4 exceptional tacos (Zelle accepted). Blink and you'll miss it. Found this place randomly as I was driving and stopped to try it for a very late dinner. There's a soft service bar for the sauces and toppings along with a small parking lot. Service was fast;however, I was surprised by the price of $33 for 1 pastor burrito, 1 pastor vampirio and 3 tacos. One of my gripe is if a place doesn't list their prices so I'm basing off my knowledges from previous reviews and I had assumed the tacos would be $3 each. But onto the food: Asada taco: beef, chewy and tough but substantial Pastor taco + pastor burrito: the best cut of meat. It was hot when I got it and it was very good. Well marinated. Pollo taco: you can probably skip this, the chicken is a little bit plain and dry Vampirio: similar to a tiny quesadilla. I ordered the Cabeza, linguica and carne asada tacos which are the small hand made tortillas, hand made there using a pasta rolling machine instead of a customary tortilla oress and all were outstanding. All the buckets of condiments were there... cilantro/onion, limes, salsas, spicy pickled veggies, grilled onions, bell peppers and Serrano chiles, fresh, sliced crunchy cucumbers... muy delicioso! This place was great, and a ton of people came through while we were eating there. With a number of options on the menu, there's something for everyone. The smell was intoxicating while we were there, and it really added to the experience. It made my mouth and stomach eager to welcome the food that was being prepared for us. They asked our preference on how to make the tacos: with or without onion and cilantro, which is a nice touch. Amounts are really subjective and up to personal preference, so it was nice it allowed flexibility for all individuals. The tacos were great, and I can't complain about any of them. The seasoning was solid on the particular meats I chose. The al pastor was tantalizingly rotating on the trompo, and we watched as the glistening meat was cut specifically for our order. Knowing it's that fresh off the spit is amazing. We also got a papa, and that was delicious. It came with a number of tortillas, so it's incredibly filling due to it being a large amount of food. The setup was well lit and even had a place to sit and eat, if that's what you prefer. They also had a good amount of salsas y más on anothrt table. They had some salsas in a squeeze bottle, which I personally like as an addition. It makes it easy to add a particular amount or to fill up the little cups cleaner. Burrito I tried was an Al Pastor burrito-it was so heavy and yummy,truly loved it!! This place is a pop up stand that is here Tuesday thru Sunday from 530p till about 1130p. Their condiment bar is self serve and it's elite level stuff to add to your food items. They offer 3 different salsa and they are all pretty good,but the orange sauce,which I think is Chile de Arbol based,stood out,it's so tasty,highly recommend it. I don't normally go for the Pastor meat, but this place makes it tasty. Carne asada and horchata were yummy too. I'd come again if I was in the area. Taco road trip! Drove over Saturday and got there at 5pm before a big line started. We got some of everything almost. Tacos, quesadilla, papas rellenas, and vampiros. The chorizo and al pastor meats were our favorite meats. They do not skimp on the meat. It was falling off of and out of everything we ate. Not a bad thing at all. I'd never had a vampiros. I heard some positive things about this Mexican food stand from some friends and so forth. So we decided to try this stand. We ordered all different types of tacos, burritos, tortes and got all their salsas and other essentials. Once we got home, set up everything for dinner. First thing we all tried was the salsa it was watered down and tasted like water and lime that was the first disappointment. Steak no flavor just blah. Chicken was not any better had a weird taste to it. Could not put my finger on it. Pork was ok better than steak and chicken. With that being said especially with the salsa was the worst. I understand too that people that come from different areas of Mexico and so forth do things a little different. Maybe they are good for some but not our cup of, so I am sorry to write about this and add this to review, but maybe they just had an off day. My suggestion would be to try the Mexican Taco Stand that we have been going for a few years. They are also on Watt and cross street on Karl drive further North on Watt. The female cashier and her coworkers kept the line moving fast, ensuring that everyone got their orders in a timely manner. The tacos were made fresh to order, and in my opinion, the al pastor was more savory than the carne asada. The horchata was also great, not too cinnamon-y. I appreciated the cashier's kindness when she informed me that the horchata was running low and not enough for a full order, so she gave me a sample to try. One sign of a good food vendor is when patrons who speak the language of the ethnic cuisine are waiting in line for the food. I highly recommend giving this food truck a try and supporting their small business. Although parking can be tight, there is an empty building nearby that's within walking distance.
