I have been to this location many times over the years. On my most recent visit I ordered a mulita with adobada and a Quesataco with asada. Their mulitas are always solid, adobada might be my favorite meat here. The Quesataco was good, I had never had one of these before, it is a taco with a cheese shell, it might be a little too much cheese, but I kind of wonder if that is possible. The menu no longer had tostados as far as I could tell. Ensanda shrimp has been a good choice in the past. Sooo I'm a die hard Chandos fan! I was so happy to hear they re-opened some of the locations. However I'm a bit disappointed in the taste of the food. It was ok but not the best like it used to be. Looked the same, fresh ingredients but for some reason it's lacking flavor. I'm pretty sad about that! The carnitas burrito and chicken mulita were disappointing but the carne aside taco was better even though a piece of the meat wasn't fully cooked and the Horchata is still my fav. This is the OG Chando's location, it used to be one of my favorite spots. Their carne asada was top-tier. Since they've expanded to new locations, I feel the quality has dipped a bit. It's still good, just not quite as tender or flavorful as it used to be. Today, I had the carne asada burrito, and my wife got the carne asada tacos. I still enjoyed it, but I'm still a bit nostalgic for that OG taste. Service is good, they have friendly staff. Just a heads-up for those who haven't been there before, you order outside at the window. On hot days, if there's a line, it can be a bit rough. Luckily, there was no line when I went today. Ordered a Cali burrito 14.13$ no add ons. This is the burrito I got. Almost like just half the burrito, super small. Size of a taco bell burrito. I told the workers the burrito is small for a 14$ burrito they said thats the large. The burrito was mediocre 6/10, sauce was salty, my lips were burning from the salt. Used to be the best carne asada tacos, now I would never go back. I ordered my usual carne asada tacos & they didn't even put salsa or give me any in my to go box. Just meat lemon & cilantro. The carne was dry, not flavorful or marinated as it used to be. No radishes or jalapeño provided. I also ordered a quesadilla with meat & it was so skimpy, not worth the 13.00 at all. Very thin. I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately it wasn't for me. None of the meats were great and I tried all I tried all of them. The tortilla kept sticking to parchment paper and's as soon as I tried to eat the taco it completely fell apart. At the end of the meal, I was completely sad because I had not enjoyed any of it. Overrated. No parking, the tables were dirty and the service was mediocre. Al pastor quesadilla: 2/5, what you'd expect at a Taco Bell. The meat was extremely dry and the tortilla was really small. It's been a while since I've been to this location and ordered from here, probably over two years and some change now but I recently just went here again for a quick lunch and ordered what I knew I liked which was their carne asada tacos. This time it just seemed different. It was good but definitely not as good I remembered it. I'm not sure if they use a different cut of meat and/or if they slightly tweaked their marinade but the meat was tough, bigger chunks, fatty, and , the flavor was very mild. I remember the meat use to have a nice Smokey char on it, and the flavor from the marinade really stood out and was slice perfectly thin. It was definitely lacking this time. They use to put guac on the tacos now it's like a green salsa which a little bit of avocado pieces. read more

LOVE THE FOOD!! I'm a HUGE Mexican foodie and this place always has great food. The asada tacos are my favorite and I've tried nearly all of them so definitely recommend these over the other options. I tried three of their tamales and I would suggest having the rajas con queso and the pork tamales but the chicken one was good as well. Also the portions and the prices are reasonable so definitely check it out and they have some daily specials. Asada Tacos: 11/10 Rajas con queso: 10/10 Pork tamales: 10/10 Chicken Tamales: 8/10 The service was great but the location is not the greatest. The consome birria tacos were good 4/5 stars. The Quesadillas tripa was very underwhelming 2/5 stars. I expected the tripa to have that "chew" (like KBBQ intestines) to them but it was soft and the entire time I thought I was eating pulled pork. They did have a little overhang to stand under when it was raining. We got the birria tacos, not good, needs flavoring. We also got chicken tacos which were kind of dry. Just know if you go here you can't pee here. When I was working downtown every day before the pandemic, we would come here for lunch and I have used the restroom in the past so I think they're just selective on who they let use the restroom. read more

Sunday, March 6 at 2:00ish: We ordered two Carne Asada and two Carnitas tacos. I had the Carnitas tacos, when they came, we started to eat, and there was so much grease pouring out of the tacos. It was amazing that I've never seen anything like before my life so I ate my first grease trap. The second one was greasy as shit too in addition to all the grease dripping from my taco, I found the Carnitas was from the bottom of the barrel. All the meat was black, and it was from griddle. And when asked what comes on the burrito they stated no rice !!! I was surprised. I was training in Sacramento and saw that the famous Chando's was just around the corner so I had to give them a try! I've had them at a catered wedding a long time ago but had never been to their brick and mortar. Coincidentally it was taco Tuesday and they offer $2.50 tacos with a wide variety of meat options. I ordered 2 asada and 2 fish tacos. I was a little taken aback that my fish tacos rang up somewhere around $3.79 each. I asked the lady if the fish was not part of the deal because fish was on the list to which she replied "not the fried fish". Hmmm ok a little misleading, but not something worth me getting into a huff about. The food came out pretty quickly and I was sure to ask for some of their habanero salsa. Glad I did because it was . The fish tacos were delicious! Fish lightly fried and topped with cabbage and crema. The asada tacos were ok, nothing to rave about. All in all this is a solid taco spot! read more

Updating this review. I still have a love/hate relationship with this Chando's locations but it's leaning more towards love at the moment. Phone number didn't work for some reason, so I moseyed over to place my order at the window. The cashier was helpful and the food came out quick. Got four tacos this time and they were all delicious (two birria, one asada, one Ensenada). I really like the Ensenada fish taco, it's my go to and it never disappoints. Well, I couldn't help myself. After I did a covid test(NEGATIVE, WOOHOO), I couldn't stop thinking about celebrating taco Tuesday, even though I was on my own today. I stopped here because I have thoroughly enjoyed eating at this Chandos location! Today, I parked in the gravel parking lot behind the back and walked up to the ordering window. It wasn't busy with only one person ahead of me waiting for their food. For $9.50, I ordered a combo of 3 Birrira (MINI) tacos with consume. The wait was about 15+ minutes. I waited in their covered outdoor seating in the back. It felt dirty with a little bit of standing water on the ground and old food sticking to the tables. After 15+ minutes I came back around the front to check on my food... for not being busy, it sure took a while. They handed me a box of 3 (MINI) tacos, which looked good. They still have pink tortilla shells from last month, so they were pink Birrira taco shells, stuffed with meat, onions and cilantro. There was no cheese...ummmm, ok. I can kind of live without cheese. The consume was just broth and bits of meat. I did have to go back and ask for a side of onions and cilantro to put in. After that, I was set. After a few bites, I noticed the meat tasted a day old or so. It had that reheated taste to it, but it was better than not. I finished eating and was on my way. I don't think I'll order their Birrira tacos again, but I'll be back for other menu items read more

I am visiting Sacramento and we don't have Chando's in LA. This came as a recommendation from a friend who is a local. This is a casual, fast food type chain. I just spent $30 on dinner here for one person. I ordered 1 shrimp taco, 1 asada taco, side of guac (over $3 ) melon juice and vanilla churro....ummm what?? I will say that the young man (thin, dark hair) working the register tonight was polite to everyone that walked in while I ordered, waited and ate. He is very knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients and addressed all questions regarding ingredients. His customer service was Since I was still hungry, I later ordered a mini torta. I enjoyed all the items that I ordered but it's just pricey. 2 tacos is not enough food and they go for over $3 each. The melon juice was ok. Ask for a cup to sample before you commit to the aguas frescas (horchata, jamaica, piña or melon). I find it odd that this is a Mexican place and rice is no where to be found on the menu. However, they do have beans! The fries w choice of protein looked good in pics but they're $13 so I didn't order them. If I'm back in Sacramento, I'd eat here again. Also there's ample parking since it's in a plaza on the corner. There was a steady flow of people dining in and picking up takeout on a Monday night. read more
