Purple Burrito effectively raises the bar on Baja California style cuisine in the Springfield area. I've frequented this restaurant and location for years now and it is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat when I'm on the go or with friends. The California Burrito, (a burrito that has French Fries in it I might add) has to be my favorite item on the menu (I highly recommend it). The staff here are very friendly, they actually recognize me every time I walk through the door, and are always open to suggest what's good on the menu. My lunch breaks here are usually accompanied by Dr. Phil or Ellen playing silently on the TV but that's okay though. I think I would much rather prefer some music instead to be honest, but I'm usually too involved with my burrito to care. In terms of originality this place is a gem all the way down from its particle board furniture to the purple-painted walls. In a world filled with Chipotle and Qdoba it is hard to find a nice, contemporary Mexican restaurant that isn't a chain. This unassuming little strip mall location was not especially tempting to me, but after hearing from everyone "You've gotta try Purple Burrito!" we were in the neighborhood and gave it a shot. SO glad we did! AMAZING food and good prices, excellent fast service with a smile. It was much more authentic than I expected, I got a taquito special which was delicious and my husband loved the Purple Burrito. I also enjoyed the horchata immensely. I like this place a lot! I go here frequently. I would describe it as California Style Mexican food. Lots of fresh ingredients. The only problem I've had consistently is my order been wrong or my order not being understood when I placed it. Several times I have not received what I ordered, but they are always happy to fix the mistake if you let them know. Oh, and the soft tacos always fall apart because there is so much juice, it breaks the tortilla, so eat them fast! Good prices and good food! read more

Get the fish tacos. Really, I'm not kidding. Those suckers are literally the only reason for 5 stars. The staff is really friendly, but aside from the fish tacos I can't say that this place is anything outside of the ordinary for around here. So delicious and the specials are great! Mondays and Thursdays are $1 tacos and they are legit. My husband and I had a great meal with beer for less than $15 total. We will definitely be going back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good tacos. read more

When we arrived in Springfield and were driving around we passed one of the Purple Burritos and my nephews were emphatic that we had to go! So after promising to go for lunch the next day we were off. We went to the large one near bass pro shop which I'm hoping is this address but not positive sorry. I had a carne asada taco, a carnita taco, and beef taquitios and a grapefruit Jarrito. I thought all of my food was great! Fresh, home made, fast and cheap! All that was just under $10. I liked that they had a salsa bar to the side so you could add jalapeños or pickled veggies or salsa as desired. This is a counter service style places which was quick and easy with kids. The kids got the cheese quesadilla with rice and beans and were super excited that it was two quesadillas and they cut them up for them to easily eat. My sister in law had the California burrito I think? It was a giant burrito with beef and French fries stuffed in! We all enjoyed our food, cute inside, quick, cheap, and easy. We were recently in Springfield, MO for Thanksgiving and were looking for some Mexican food on Saturday. My wife, being from California, saw this place and wanted to check it out. Having visited California many times, as well as having lived in Tucson, AZ for four years, I love Mexican food! I must say, after our visit here, I was pleasantly surprised. I had two tacos (Asada and Chorizo), as well as chips and guacamole. The tacos were both flavorful, and needed no extra seasoning. The chorizo could have been a little spicier, but I'm really just nit-picking. As for the guacamole, I felt it definitely needed more salt. Other than that, everything was good! We will definitely be returning here on our next trip to Springfield! read more

Ok so we found this place online and it had good reviews so we went there. The reviews didn't lie! We had a purple chicken burrito and a carne asada one. Both were excellent and large. They had sauces for you to try. Finished up with the Apple churros oh wow amazing. Will stop again. read more

I should write this review for my 6 year old son! He loves this place and asks for us to go their frequently. We all love the horchata there! My son and husband love the fish tacos, I love their carne asada burrito! We always go to the one on South Campbell, so that is the only location I can speak for. The food was good as usual but was ever shocked with the raise in prices. Went to their online menu to figure out what everyone wanted and sent someone with the money to get the food. They came back and we had to give them more money. Example, shredded beef taco, 1.99 is now 2.49, California Burrito went from 5.99 up to 7.49, that is a hugh jump as far as I am concerned. For some reason I thought this was a national chain (there are a few in town) and I assumed it was basically a Chipotle clone. I was wrong. They do serve massive burritos but they also have much much more. I ordered a purple burrito, carnitas taco, and a fish taco. The burrito was great - it contained bacon - which seemed weird but it was good. The carnitas taco came with guacamole which was pretty good but sweeter then other guacs I've had. The meat was great with lots of crispy bits. The fish taco tasted like most fish tacos I've had, but I can't remember ever having a bad fish taco. All in all I'm glad I stopped in to eat. read more

This is my favorite place to get a burrito in town, it's better than Chipotle and Qdoba. Their menu is HUGE and everything this good. The restaurant is clean and everything is made fresh. I would recommend the California burrito,it has French fries in it instead of rice and lots of guacamole. My only knock on this Springfield gem is the tables do not get cleaned often but that's because they are so busy filling orders in the kitchen. This place is definitely once a week worthy! read more

My husband and I placed a carry out order from the menu posted online. When my husband picked up our food it was $15 more than the prices were online. We ended up spending $34 for just 2 meals. After reading Yelp reviews I decided on the purple burrito and my husband tried the burrito/cheese enchilada combo plate. The burritos are huge and I was so glad I ordered just the burrito. I just moved to the area after living in San Diego for the past 28 years. Some of the people I work with were giving me suggestions of good mexican food places. They were all pretty bad. Then I talked to another Cali native and he told me to go here. Glad I listened. When I need my mexican food fix this is where I go. The carne asada fries are awesome. Just like I used to get back home. And they have Jarritos to wash it all down. Is it the same as Albertos or La Posta or Quatro Milpas? No. But it's pretty close. And it's as close as I'm gonna get outside of SoCal. It's nice to know Purple Burrito is around for when I need that taste of home. read more
