After spending over an hour trying (and failing) to find parking near the Queens Night Market because of the Governors Ball, we gave up and decided to head to Tacos El Güero Sunnyside restaurant instead. It ended up being the best decision we made all night. Emily, our server, was nice, attentive, and took great care of us. The food was just as fresh and delicious as at the taco stand at the QNM. The purple corn tortillas were incredible, the chicken was hot, juicy, and flavorful, the steak was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the mushroom taco. The restaurant has a fun, authentic Mexican vibe with colorful décor, a great playlist that really adds to the atmosphere, and it's honestly a cute spot if you want to snap a few photos. I probably would have never known about Tacos El Guero if I hadn't spotted it on Google Maps. The restaurant itself feels very homey and welcoming. Im glad that I chose to stop by on a Sunday afternoon. I'm glad it wasn't super busy as there was only one waitstaff member handling everything. She was really nice, attentive, and knowledgeable about the entire menu. I went with a friend, and we started with the Ceviche de Cameron, which was fresh and flavorful. Since it was cold outside, I was craving something warm. I got the sopa de pollo, which was a large chicken soup. It hit the spot. I also tried one taco since that's what they specialize in here. It was so large and they gave it in a blue tortilla. I was so full by the end. I would definitely come back to try more from the menu. read more

I've tried several different items from this place but I honestly didn't like a single one. First I tried the sopa de aztec & there was no no avocado albeit it stated it would have it. Also, the fryin cheese did not suit the soup at all- Oaxaca cheese tastes so much better with this type of soup & this is the only Mexican spot I know that uses something other than Oaxaca cheese. Needless to say, it did not work & rubbery cheese in soup is not it. I thought that maybe the soup from this place was a one off so I also ordered a couple tamales from here on a separate occasion as well. The food here is deliciously authentic. I love the cozy yet lively vibe that the colorful artwork and decor bring. I came for Taco Tuesday and was not disappointed. For those who are vegetarian, this is one of the few places I know with sooo many options and varieties for tacos. I cannot wait to try them all. They also have wonderful jugos frescos. Food: I was very impressed with the food here! We ordered six tacos -- al pastor, steak, carnitas, salty beef, fish, and beef tongue. My favorites were the al pastor and fish tacos. All of the tacos were packed with meat and topped with onion and cilantro. The flavor of all of the meats were excellent, and the meat was not dry. The tacos were also served with a variety of salsas. In addition to tacos, the menu has entrées, burritos, tostadas, and appetizers. I would definitely come back here for the tacos, as well as to try the other menu items. Service: Service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and welcoming. She also came back frequently to check on us. She also came to provide us with an update about the wait time for our order since they had a large group as well as a lot of delivery orders at the time. I'm giving this a generous three, primarily because the food was delicious and fresh. The place was clean and bright, and the music was fun. The problem was with the staff. There were several times our order got forgotten or messed up, and it took a great deal of patience to work with the waiter. I believe this place is relatively new, so hopefully the kinks will get straightened out. This is now my go-to Mexican spot. Such a gem in the neighborhood, an authentic, friendly, family-run spot. Clean, crispy, flavorful intestine tacos, better than El Chato in my opinion which is bomb but sometimes too crispy. Unique chipotle shrimp cocktail that's the best I've had in NYC in a long time. The aguachile is better than Mariscos. I love, love chilaquiles and they do it justice here. Haven't had a bad dish so far. It's places like this that make me so happy to be in New York. read more

I randomly walked in this little gem. I didn't know what I wanted and chatted with the friendly waitress Yvette and then to a lovely couple seating next to me. It seemed that the couple were regular and I asked them what they ordered both of them answered Barbacoa de chivo - the special. I joked and said that I'll order the same and I'll blame it on them if I do t like it. Barbacoa de chivo is a lamb soup /stew that is served in its own broth that has been cooked on slow fire with side dishes of rice, beans and freshly made tortillas. When you taste the soup magical wires activate in your body and you feel like you are in your grandmothers home eating something that everyone in the family has been waiting to have. It has been a long time I have had a good dinner... no not good this is THE BEST I've had for a very long time. The couple on the next table were giggling and teasing me my answer "This is one of the good blames! Thank you for the suggestion!" The tacos are fresh and delicious. I asked for lime for my water it was brought immediately. Yvette checked on me to make sure I'm ok and if I need something. This is authentic Mexican food cooked with so much love and soul and you can feel it while eating. Ambiance is friendly with beautiful Mexican Art. They don't serve alcohol for now as they opened two months ago but they are working on their license. If you are in Sunnyside do not hesitate to dine at Tacos El Guero! They serve brunch on weekends , have Taco Tuesday Specials! I grabbed a menu as they deliver! This is the type restaurant that you want to go seat and enjoy delicious authentic Mexican food and fantastic friendly service! I don't live in close proximity to the restaurant but I'm sure I will be back to explore more of their menu and daily specials that are posted on their social media. The person who served us could not have been sweeter or more helpful. Three generations loved it all, and although I was the only one at the table who doesn't usually go for Mexican food, I was a true believer just a few bites in. The restaurant is on 43rd Avenue - in between the more commercial avenues of Skillman and Queens Blvd. If it were on either of these there would be lines out the door. We had vegetarian as well as meat dishes - taste testing many items. All good! I had heard from a neighbor that this New Mexican restaurant is really good. So, I went and got take out a few days ago. WOW! It was amazing. I had the mole poblano. My partner had a chicken quesadilla. The tortillas were homemade and fresh and so soft and delicious. The rice and beans were so savory that I would go back and just order those. For real. They were a standout. The chicken was moist and soft and bathed in a lush, aromatic and incredible mole sauce. The mole had a deep complexity. The best I've had other than the mole you can buy in the Mexican grocery stores in Queens (Mole Poblano Ascuncion). I also ordered the carnitas taquitos and they were amazing. The soft fresh tortillas with the grilled pork was incredible. They provided 3 different homemade salsas that were unique, fresh and delicious: a salsa verde, a picante red chili salsa and a wonderfully and deep flavored chipotle salsa. We ordered two aquas frescos: passionfruit/mango and horchata and both were also incredible. There were several other flavors as well and I'll look forward to trying them, especially the lime. This is truly authentic fresh regional Mexican food and it is the best I've had in NYC. The place is humble, clean and the small family that runs it are really nice people. I think because they're pretty new that they've not been discovered yet. There were hardly any other people there. I"m taking a few friend this eve and I'm looking forward to trying more of this wonderful food. It's rare to find a neighborhood gem that you feel is special. read more

Among the best tacos in Sunnyside. Two is enough for most. They don't have a liquor license but their soft drinks are great and I just smuggle a flask of tequila to spice them up. The service is friendly and attentive, the decor refreshing. This place deserves a following! read more
