    Surf and turf

My friend and I stumbles upon this taco gem and I'm so glad I did. The place doesn't have the best appearance--it's definitely not fine dining. It's more of a cafeteria-style setup, but there is seating if you want to eat there. Now let's talk about the food--delicious. There are so many options, and everything I've tried has been great. I've ordered the surf and turf with the consommé twice, and it was amazing both times. The shrimp dumplings with the consommé were also really good. My friend ordered the birria grilled cheese and absolutely loved it. Customer service is very good, and everything is made to order, so the food always comes out hot and fresh. Plus, they're open until 3am, which is a huge bonus. If you're ever on Ditmars or nearby, definitely check this spot out--you won't regret it.

[QUICK STATS] Food: Mexi-Halal Taqueria Service: Excellent Hospitality and Speedy Service Interior: Exceptionally Clean, Latin-Pop Ambient Music Price: $$ Well-Priced for Unmatched Quality [REVIEW] If you're looking for a taco place that will hit the spot every time, Birria LES is your best option. These guys carry a simple menu with an interesting variety of items alongside typical taqueria fare-- each one chock full of birria loaded goodness. This location in particular offers a nice selection of Mexican sodas, as well as frozen Piña Colada. Friends and I dined at around 6pm as a group of 4, greeted by a warm interior of gorgeous locally-inspired artwork and MTA Subway motifs showcasing their other locations-- it was just brilliant! While there were a few stragglers inside, the tables were considerably clean and well stocked. We were greeted by Ramiro waiting by the host stand as we browsed the laminated menus sitting on the counter. He and the chefs were patient and relaxed as we huddled around a table, deciding what to indulge on. When time came to order, not only was the process fast and simple, but the food was delivered to our table by a lovely lady chef (sorry I didn't get your name!) mere minutes after we placed our order. The staff made us feel welcome and gave us a full Queens-Borough service: exceptionally kind, and to the point. SHOUTOUT: If your party has any allergies as well, you can trust them with your food! Ramiro assured us our seafood item would be kept separate from the other tacos. Two in the party (who have never been) decided to follow my recommendation of Birria LES' Beef Birria Tacos, alongside solo orders of shrimp and chicken birria to get a feel for everything. Of course, I had to introduce them to the wonders of this taqueria's consomé, and purchased a total of 8 items for $42.80, including a bottle of Lime Jarritos. You can tell as soon as you open the box that the food was made fresh with love and care for their craft. Two bright orange tortillas hug your choice of birria meat with a fine blend of chopped cilantro and diced white onions-- completing the ultimate taco experience with your personal topping choices of a lime wedge, Salsa Verde, or Salsa Rojo right in the box. I personally enjoy not having to get up and scrounge around for my sauces, so this was an absolute plus. In addition, the consomé was rich and steaming, perfect for dipping into or as a stand-alone item. Our party enjoyed the food so much, we purchased 6 more classic beef birria tacos (they do offer a cheese or Al Pastor alternative for all tacos) and ate happily with the relaxing pop in the background. Our other friend had gotten their chicken burrito combo (strikingly delicious tortilla filled with meat, beans, rice, and cilantro paired with chips) and tried to keep this location's frozen Piña Colada to themself. I can say with certainty that we will come back, and if not for the tacos, then the juiciest and most refreshing Piña Colada on this side of Astoria. I highly recommend this location, especially to anyone that's passing by: everything from the rice to the price will make your night!

Mexican (and Tex-Mex) isn't an option that Queens lacks, but about a year ago the Chilaquiles on…read morethe menu put El Ranchero on my radar. Surprisingly, it is a dish that is hard to find in the Flushing/Fresh Meadows area especially in a sit down, comfortable restaurant. The Chilaquiles was a nice little plate of deliciousness - I loved the tangy green salsa soaked bed of tortilla with nicely fried over easy eggs (they way I ordered it). A fan of avocado, tomato and onions top the dish as well - it comes with a side of rice and beans. I recently returned when I was in the mood for enchiladas - they have combo option with beef, chicken and cheese. I ordered them divorced style with both red and green salsa. It comes blanketed with a shredded lettuce salad with tomato, onions and avocado. Rice and beans round out the dish. A couple of other dishes I tasted were the eggs with chorizo and the chimichanga - both were very good. I love their house salsas both a dark red and green one. They bring out tortilla chips with a thick salsa that is tomato-ey sweet. They have a full bar if you are so inclined and the service is very good here.

Not fluent in English, but very friendly service. They have an extensive menu! They give complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is a sweet tomato-y salsa and the chips are crisp. The Chimichanga with Cecina (Salted Beef) was stuffed! Crisp fried exterior, covered in flavorful red (tomato-y) and green (herb-y) sauces. The cecina is perfectly salted. I enjoyed the guac and chips (same as the complimentary chips) and pico on the side added freshness. They also have a house red and green sauce, which have a good kick and flavor to them. The Pineapple Juice is the right amount of sweetness and tart. I like that there's no ice so it's a full glass of juice! Overall a neat local spot to hit up for good food and friendly service (and a full bar!).

Ironically, earlier while trying to decide where to go for dinner, I had sent this restaurant to my friend but we ended up going somewhere else and came here for drinks afterward. The drinks were really good! We tried the "Sexy Oaxaca," which consists of 7 Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, Cointreau, grilled pineapple, mint agave, fresh lemon, and warm salt. This drink takes your taste buds on a ride. It starts off light and refreshing with the mezcal throughout, then finishes with a smoky effect from the pineapple since it's lit. It was really good!! I also tried the "VIP Old Fashion," made with Patrón Extra Añejo, Nixta corn liqueur, Angostura, and orange bitters. This was also good and was smoked prior to being served, giving it a smoky aftertaste. It's definitely a drink you sip slowly. Although we arrived about an hour and a half before closing, the waiter was very polite and professional. They also didn't rush us out once it was closing time, which I appreciated. There were other customers still there enjoying themselves as well. I will definitely be back for dinner. I'm very curious to see what the food is like. I really enjoyed the drinks.

Nothing bad, but I felt like it could've been a bit better overall. The food was good though, I ordered the mixtos tacos, which let's you pick three different tacos from the menu. It was around $23, which is a little pricey. But the tacos were a decent size and definitely filling. My favorite thing I tried was the chori queso. I never had it before and it was honestly the standout dish for me. I would order that again. I also tried the enquites which is street corn. It had a bit of a burnt taste. I know some people enjoy that smokey flavor, but it really wasn't for me. Overall, it was a nice time and for some of the dishes too.
