a food truck parked in a parking lot

After spending several hours at the nearby wildlife refuge I was hungry. I wanted a quick eat-in-the-car meal before I headed home. I took a right coming out of the refuge to take the back road into the town instead of left to the highway. This truck caught my eye they had a permanent sign on a pole. I figured this was a hint that they were well-established. Also, a few other people were ordering, another reason to stop. I ordered a Tacazo Norawa: a mixture of beef, bacon, and sausage with cabbage, tomatoes, and cheese. This must be their specialty there is a picture on the side of the truck. It was okay. I also had an asada taco it was delicious. The truck is not really close to the freeway. There are other places that I would go to for a regular meal. However, I will come back to this truck the next time I go to the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge in Willows.

We were split on what to do for dinner and decided on this little spot which broke the tie. It's well kept and the server was awesome. There is a great selection as you can see, my favorite was the Birria with a tasty consomme. The steak burrito not pictured was great as was my tripa and lengua. There is a ton of parking and a nicely covered seating area. The best part about all of it how inexpensive it was for three of us especially in this economy.

Food is good. And they are fairly quick. I do wish their Horchata drink size was larger because right now it feels like a medium.

5 different, steaming hot, WONDERFUL tacos with just the right amounts of everything.

I had a pretty legit super burrito with cabeza here as my brunch meal on a long drive…read more The truck is set up near a big enclosed area so you can get out of the sun or rain depending on the weather. There are also port a potty bathrooms, although they were locked. The location is basically at the end of a road behind a liquor store. Isn't that where the best tacos always are, somewhere off the beaten path? So before ordering, I did see a sign which I interpreted as "extra salsa costs money", which I find kind of annoying. Depending on how the salsa is, I may want to douse every bite in it, so I was hoping that at least what they did give was good. As it turned out, I didn't need to worry, since the sign actually means "no salsa included - at all". So that's kind of lame, what kind of place doesn't give you any salsa at all? Onto the burrito - despite no salsa, this was a very good burrito. A bit greasy, with a fair amount of oil leaking out, but that's normal for fatty braised meat like cabeza. Some salsa verde would have been welcome though. Size-wise it was totally worth it, the ingredients were well integrated, and the tortilla was chewy and held together to the last bite. The wrapping job was also good, so aside from the grease overflowing from my big bites, there were no leaks. I live nowhere near this place so I can't imagine when or if I'll be back, but as far as a good pit stop on I5 this place delivers.
