I was told this was the best taco place in San Jose so I dropped by on a Thursday night. It was pretty slow since it was late at night. It's a non-descript taco truck with no signage and no menu, they just tell you what meats they have and you pick tacos or quesadillas. I ordered pastor, pollo, and cabeza. Came across a TikTok video mentioning that Taco El Primo had one of the best Al Pastor tacos around and knew I had to try and see if that was true. My partner ordered the Carne Asada Tacos and I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos. The wait was about 30 minutes and it was cash only. There is no menu in regard to what items can be ordered but only a sign with the meat options. Average: * Carne Asada Tacos were okay. It's your typical Carne Asada but in my opinion, I found the meat to be a bit too dry for my liking. * Al Pastor Tacos were okay. I enjoyed the sliced of pineapple on the tacos but the meat wasn't as juicy and tender as people make it out to be. Maybe I was unlucky to receive more of the burnt end pieces so it was dry. Came on a Wednesday night at 10:30 and there wasn't a big crowd, but a decent one! Food took about 10-15 minutes to come out because there's only two people working. We ordered three tacos and one quesadilla and it came out to $25 so it's definitely more on the expensive side. The quesadilla was pretty fire - I got a mix of asada and pastor for my meats and I liked it! The meat here is cut in bigger chunks so it has more of a bite to it - I liked that, it's different! I've been seeing this spot a lot on social media and decided to give it a try. There is no menu to see how much each item are and it is cash only. You can call or text them your order. We ordered ahead of time by texting them our order so we did not wait long for our food. We came at 8:30 PM when they opened and there were already cars parked on the curb waiting for their food. You can see the al pastor on the trompo. The food from this food truck smells really good. Food: 10/10 It looked like they are known for al pastor so we ordered al pastor tacos and an al pastor quesadilla. The white cheese they use in the quesadilla was so good! I wonder if they make just the cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was a big portion too. The taco tortilla is a bit thicker and a little bigger than the street taco size. The al pastor is SO GOOD! I'm used to al pastor looking like little bits and pieces, sometimes dry, or sometimes too oily but this place has big cuts of al pastor and the marinade was amazing too. The green and orange salsas are also light because it wasn't too thick and it paired well with the tacos and quesadilla too. The herbs and grilled onions taste very fresh too. Both their tacos and quesadillas smack, it's a must try. The salsas are real good as well. It's a real popular place as there's always people there ready to order, but that's how you know this place is bomb. That being said, their opening times are inconsistent. Sometimes, they arrive to the location at 9 or even 10 pm. It's best to call them beforehand to see when they arrive. But, they are open real late anyways, so this would be real good for some late night tacos. The 2 guys running this joint are real friendly and really created a friendly atmosphere. We came upon this place when looking for late night tacos. Tacomania up the street turned us away so then this was our next option, and boy aren't we glad it turned out that way! I can speak for the cabeza and suadero, if you don't know what that is then you're probably at the wrong place... moving on, they were our of this world! The cabeza can tend to be overly greasy but not this one, it was tender and super flavorful! The suadero was nice and toasty without being dry or leaving a funky aftertaste. The bf went with cabeza, al pastor and carnitas. While all three were good cabeza and al pastor were the best. In fact the cabeza is one of the best he's ever had. The nice cashier told us they are at this location Thursday thru Sunday, didn't ask about the specific hours but we got there at 1:30 am and they were taking phone orders even as were leaving. My only complaint is that they didn't have any limon, but at 1:30 am it can easily be my fault for going so late. Will definitely come back and try more of their other offerings! read more
