I had high expectations for this taco truck because of all the positive reviews but I was honestly really disappointed with my visit. There wasn't much of a crowdon a Saturday night (2 other people ordered) but I still had to wait for my food for over 20 minutes. I ordered the Asada Fries (replaced with Tripas) and a mix of 3 tacos (al pastor and carne asada). Unfortunately, every item was disappointing. All three meats tasted bland, lacked any seasoning, and the grilled onions tasted soggy - not sweet, salty, or meaty, nothing. The sauces were also a huge miss. The red salsa had a strong spice kick but no other flavor components but their green sauce was delicious - loved the creaminess and heat it packed. I don't think they bothered frying the fries because all the fries on the plate were oily and soggy. Maybe there was a misunderstanding about the "Tripas" option but I was not aware it referred to beef guts rather than the beef lining tripe I was expecting - what a waste of an order! read more

The tortilla is okay, what I like about it is that it wasn't greasy or oily. The meat was okay too, although some were burnt a little. El Toro Tacos is a great food truck in east side san jose on the intersection of King Road (or silver creek road) and Tully Road within the Lion's Plaza. It is right behind the gas station and the starbucks. I've gone here multiple times and they do not disappoint when it comes to their food. My favorite is the tacos! The tacos come with the salsa already which is great. I always like to order the burrito too, especially when it is toasted on the two sides, making it crunchy and easier to eat. My favorite meat is the al pastor. I like the tripas as well, but the asada is a bit dry in my opinion. The last time I had it in my burrito, it didn't look fresh and was just warm and could have been overcooked. They also give you a salsa verde and an orange/red-ish sauce that are both spicy. I wish they gave it with every meal but sometimes you have to ask them to give it to you. They also only give you two so use the sauce sparingly or else you will run out quickly. I used to always grab one from a place over at Blossom Hill, but discovering this new spot has changed everything. Also helps that it's on my commute back home. I really love this place, I'm always off late from work and this would be my go to when I get the chance. I always order a carne asada burrito with everything and 3-4 tacos. I have the number to El Toro in my phone and when I get off work late at night I can count on them to provide me with flavorful food. I love the burritos,quesodillas and tacos. This time I elected to get a quesadilla with the tripas and it was not only huge, but an amazing combo with the crispy filling and gooey cheese. I love getting the veggies on the outside as they can be used to augment other items ordered... for example, the avocado and sour cream can very easily be added to a taco. This time we also tried the chicken tacos. Normally I'm not a fan of pollo, but this chicken was nicely seasoned and crisped on the outside which was great in my taco. I've lived near the taco trucks in Downtown San Jose and have to say that El Toro Tacos is the best bang for your buck, if burritos are what you're looking for. Excellent ingredients and MASSIVE burritos, excellent value for $9. They're also open earlier than the downtown taco trucks (~ 6PM) EDIT: Their super burrito is still the biggest burrito I've ever bought (without expecting it to be that big [not comparing to burriotzilla]) The carne Assad fries are good, but not nearly as worth as the super burrito.
