    Making fresh Masa
    Brian C.

You would never know this place was there unless you went inside to pay for gas or buy something as it's a gas station/convenience store and the "make-shift" restaurant has no signage out front to speak of, but wow this place is good! They have 4-5 tables and counter seating. Every item is cooked to order on the small griddle and the Masa seems to be made fresh all day long as I witnessed this first hand. With so many mediocre same 'ol same 'ol south of the border and Tex-Mex establishments in the metro area, it's a treasure to find an authentic gem such as Taco's El Sabor. I had the steak and salsa quesadilla with beans and rice. The quesadilla was mouth watering delicious and oozing with hot delicious cheese. Very obvious the beans are homemade and not canned like most places. The table across from me were all eating the Mexican Seafood Stew and seemed to love it as they never said a word to each other. I'm definitely getting this next time along with trying out other menu items. Friendly and helpful staff if you have questions about the menu.

Steak torta. Tbh it looks better than it tasted. Pretty bland

The food is fresh, cooked in front of you and it's cheap but the flavour to me was not that great at all. My torta looked delicious however the flavour was a bit bland.

Pork tacos that come with diced onion and cilantro!

I've ordered from this place via UberEats a few times in the last few weeks, and everything has always been hot and delicious! I highly recommend the barbacoa tacos and steak pupusas! This is definitely my new go-to place to order from when I'm craving tacos.

We wanted to check out a Mexican restaurant that we had not dined at in the past. Checked for…read morerestaurants in Woodstock and saw this was rated above 4 Stars with over 450 reviews. We walked in the door and were pleasantly greeted by our server. She seated us at a booth, gave us menus, and promptly took our drink orders. She brought out a basket of chips and a bowl of salsa. The restaurant contains booths along the walls and tables dispersed throughout two sides or sections of the restaurant. I had looked at photos of the menus on Yelp which included a photo of a separate Lunch menu. After reviewing the Dinner menu, our waitress returned and asked if we were ready to order. I told her that I did not see a Lunch menu and asked if they had a separate Lunch menu. She looked surprised and reluctantly agreed to get us a lunch menu. I told her it was our first time in their restaurant and we wanted to see all their menu options. She returned and asked if we were ready to order and I told her we were still deciding on our orders. There were only diners at two other tables in the restaurant at 1:00 pm so not sure what the rush was to order. A man returned (he may have been the manager or owner) to take our order and I joked with him that we were getting back-up support for our server. We placed our order and our original server returned to check on us. We both like spicy salsa and the red salsa brought to the table was bland (tasted like chopped tomatoes and sauce with little or no spices) I asked if she had a spicy salsa and she quickly returned with a hot salsa. I mixed the two salsas together and it was perfect. Our meals were fine but nothing special compared to our other frequent Mexican restaurants. Overall, not exceptional Mexican cuisine but the service was good. We will not be returning to dine here again.

The birria tacos didn't have a savory flavor profile and the consommé was watered down. I will say that the birria tacos did come with a lot of meat though! Again, the chicken fajitas had no seasoning. Service was good, and restaurant was clean. I'm not sure if my experience had to do with the cooks on that day or just the items I got. Not sure if I would come back to this restaurant.

This location is truly a hidden gem tucked next to TitleMax across from Captain D's. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately welcomed and seated. We decided to sit outside on the patio, which was a nice vibe. They had traditional Spanish music playing inside, which really added to the experience, and the overall atmosphere was very clean and welcoming. The restrooms were also clean, which I always appreciate. We started with the guacamole fresco and it was amazing, super fresh and exactly how I like it. I ordered the chicken quesadilla for $12 along with a sparkling water, and my partner got the lengua tacos with a side of refried beans. Not to mention, the presentation of these dishes were very satisfying to look at. Our food came out in under 10 minutes, which honestly surprised us in the best way! The staff checked on us consistently and made sure everything was good. My quesadilla came out hot and delicious, and the portions were very generous. Both of us left full and happy, and for the price, it was more than worth it. I'd recommend this place to any crowd really whether that be families, a casual lunch, a gathering, or even a date spot. This will definitely be my go-to Mexican restaurant, and next time I come back I absolutely want to try the quesabirria and the churros.

For me the Texas Rice never fails and my wife usually gets the #8, enchilada, tamale, rice and beans. We also get the queso with chorizo or just queso. Both excellent. But tonight we stepped out side the box. I had the shrimp tacos with rice. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and came with pico de gallo and a chipotle sauce. The shrimp were plump! This was very filling with 3 tacos! My wife got the special which was a great deal at $9 for 2 ground beef tacos and rice and beans. Simply made with cheese and lettuce. Everything was wonderful! The very first time we came here over 3 years ago, we noticed how different the refried beans were. We absolutely love them. They have a hint of lime I am thinking? At any rate you should try them! This restaurant is always spotless (100 most recent health inspection) and is always full of families! Perfect for that! The prices are excellent and the service is always fast and friendly! You really can't go wrong with this place!
