I was craving tacos for Cinco De Mayo. The truck was pretty easy to find because it was in an empty parking lot. There was plenty of open spaces to park. It was $3/tacos and $3.50 for beef tongue tacos. I got two al pastor tacos and two beef tongue total $13.45. The menu was on the side of the truck and I liked how they had the Spanish names with the English translation on the side. They had long foldable tables and chairs in front of the truck with like a shaded canopy over for people to sit down and eat. I got my food pretty fast. And they were nice because I asked to put the salsa on the side and was wondering how spicy it was. They answered my question. I ended up taking home and it was delicious! Great little hidden Gem behind Young's Auto Center on Fruitridge. Been going here for over a decade and it never disappoints. They have taco's, burritos, quesadillas, with a variety of meats. The service is always friendly and very quick. The ambiance does definitely leave something to be desired, but it's a taco truck behind an oil change station, so eh. I travel around all of Sacramento and am from the North Area. These tacos are delicious! My favorite in Sac and way better than any in the north, except La Victoria which I love equally. My favorite here are the chicken, I cook a lot of Mexican food but cannot figure out the spices in these (red marinade). It tastes the exact same every single time. I love the grilled yellow corn tortilla, salsa and chicken arranged perfectly. SO damn good. I would go as far as saying these are the best tacos I've ever had and find myself tipping every time as they always come correct for me. The vast majority of the time I get 18 of them to go and share them with coworkers at Folsom prison. Everyone agrees best tacos they've ever had. I have no ideal what they do on this truck but all the meat taste exactly the same. It looks mushed together and a bit watered down. For years I've been driving past this taco truck, and I never had the guts to stop. First, I'm always a little wary of taco trucks.... but more than that, it was in a parking lot populated only by homeless lining up to cash in their can collections at the recycle center. As a taco truck enthusiast, long before it was cool to follow food trucks on Twitter, I thought it was long overdue for me not to give this place a try since I drive by here almost all the time so I decided to pull in one Sunday afternoon to get a quick bite when I noticed there wasn't anyone in line, but boy was I wrong. What I didn't notice was the four cars waiting for their food, and what I thought would be a quick minute ended up taking 15 minutes of my time away from my precious nothing to do lazy Sunday afternoon. I mean come on, I thought taco trucks are known for their speed. About the food, the prices must went up since review from previous yelper because it's $1.75 a taco now ($2 for shrimp). I ordered three different tacos in order to expand the horizon and give them a "FOX fair and balance" report. The beef was like what yelp would say..."meh" but the spicy pork was well marinated. I can't say anything about the shrimp since I was unable to try it. Apparently they neglected to tell me that they ran out of shrimps until my order was being cooked, in which case they also neglected to refund my quarter since I had to replace it for another spicy pork. Sorry but that's all I got left to say. I had a longer version but it got erased before I was able to post it so this shorter lazier version is being posted instead.
