Sacramento, California My favorite Mexican place whenever I am in Sacramento. I've only been to the Midtown location which is unassuming and cozy. Like going to your grandma's house knowing you're going to have a great home-cooked meal along with cozy comfort, and genuine, friendly service. Pastor has been my "go to" item --fatty pork cooked to tender deliciousness and served stand alone with beans and rice or in a soft taco like i had it today. Silence as soon as the food arrives as everyone is too busy enjoying their food.....Enchiladas, salsa(oh and they don't charge for chips and salsa!), fresh and made to order. Everything is good here. The service at the bar was awful. I asked for a menu multiple times and by the 6th time the bar tender got upset and told me to get a table in the restaurant because he was too busy to help me. Then he proceeded to curse at me under his breath while walking away and then slammed my bill on the bar. I think he was upset that he got called out for forgetting the menu and couldn't kick me out for being drunk. I've been. Timing for years and recommended it to everyone. I'll never do either of those things ago and I'll actively tell people about the poor service I received. Never again. I just found out that after I left on my own, the bartender felt he needed to cover his ass and tell the manager that he kicked me out. What a loser. read more

This place never disappoints. The service, the food and the cocktails are all fantastic!! We had the passion fruit watermelon margarita pitcher which had a good amount of tequila with freshly squeezed watermelon which was sooo refreshing! Their salsa was full of flavor with just enough of a kick and we also ordered the shrimp and chicken fajitas and the mahi soft taco plate. Great place for a date night or for the whole family. Their food and drinks are the best in town and their service is fast and friendly. Still one of our favorite restaurants downtown. Now with an added bonus: they're directly across the street from Woof Gang, a top-notch dog grooming boutique. Tres Hermanas has been a long-time favorite for us. It's one of those neighborhood restaurants that feels established and comfortable the minute you walk in. The interior is colorful and lively with bright walls, artwork, Día de los Muertos accents, hanging lanterns, and a bar that feels like the center of the action. It has personality and history, not a polished chain feel. We've had many dishes here over the years, and the mole entrées have always stood out. They do rich, layered sauces really well. On this visit we kept it simple with tacos, guacamole, chips, and salsa. The guacamole was fresh and well balanced, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick. I ordered the soup and salad combo. The chicken and rice soup was savory and comforting. It's not fancy, just well made. Their house dressing, a creamy cilantro dressing, is still one of my favorites and honestly one of the reasons I'll order the salad every time. Service was helpful, friendly, and prompt. Everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the staff checked in without hovering. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. It's consistent, welcoming, and reliable. We didn't have to wait long to put in our drink order but my drink never came so I asked server which she then brought out shortly after. I ordered Tasha's Quesadilla. Came on a Tuesday for lunch & it was crowded but got seated quickly. Complimentary chips and delicious salsa. 3/5 chile relleno. Small portion, lots of breading, minimal cheese and pepper. For $9 it felt overpriced. 3.5/5 asada quesadilla for $15. Small flour tortilla. Asada flavor was good but the meat and cheese wasn't particularly plentiful. Included sour cream and salsa which I appreciated. 4/5 service was good. I've been lucky to have great servers as of late. Overall I was a bit disappointed in the food at this price point. I've been eating a lot of local Mexican food lately and this is usually a solid choice. I'll likely stick to the taquerias in my area for a bit unless it's a special occasion request. read more

This restaurant definitely deserves a higher rating than what it currently shows. I stopped in for lunch and the friendly staff seated me quickly on their outdoor patio. It has spots with more sunlight or spots with more shade so you have different options depending on the heat and sunlight. The lightly batter exterior contains yummy strawberry ice cream with strawberry topper and just the right amount of whip cream. Wow such a cool little neighborhood eatery! I was bummed we were working as it precluded the exciting stuff at the bar. The staff was friendly and on point. Sadly we were somewhat limited having to eat this int he back of a moving rig so burrito it was. The large burrito was perfect. The chicken was nicely chunked and well seasoned, all of the ingredients were fresh and in perfect portion to each other. Tightly wrapped it maintained structural integrity to the last bite which was essential in a moving vehicle. The beans were well cooked and seasoned (not the usual Spackle other places serve) The chips were hot, perfectly fried and just the right amount of salt, and the salsa was perfect. In an era where everything is self-serve or order at the counter, Trea Hermanas still provides exceptional service with professional and experienced wait staff. The price for food is not bad given the current state of the economy and cost of groceries. The taco salad with asada is 5 stars. Nice crispy shell filled with tender, juicy asada. Along with crispy Romain lettuce, flavor rich rice, beans, salsa, and fresh sour cream and guacamole. Their burrito de asada, cheese enchiladas, rice and beans are all great as well. This place is grimy in a good way - like a south Philly Mexican joint. No frills. The spicy margarita - hands down the best I've ever had. It had a strong kick both on the spice level and the tequila flavor. Chicken quesadilla and steak fajita - pretty standard. Solid. Chips and salsa - best salsa I've had. I usually dont say this but WOW!.. I was impressed, loved the exterior of the building, and the inside wont disappoint you. The Decor is very cool and full of life, and color. The food was AMAZING, I ordered a SUPER chicken Burrito, it came with rice and beans. The meat was so tender, and marinated in a sauce, was sooo good.. I also ordered a Margarita Tropical, peach... Was Very good, just wish the glass was bigger.. lol. My wife had a Quesada , came with rice beans and guacamole. Looked amazing as well.. I am sure everything is good here, all the food we saw looked so good, was hard to order in one hand.. ;-) Service was great, we sat after waiting just a few mins, place was pretty busy. I have been on the hunt for good enchiladas since Lupita's in Orangevale closed. I haven't tasted any that I wanted to eat again until I went to Tres Hermanas today. Surprisingly I have never been to this Sacramento classic until now! My friend chose it for dinner so I was excited to check it out finally. We arrived at 6:00 on a Tuesday and we were seated within a few minutes! So nice to see a fully packed restaurant on a weekday. I would have loved to sit out on the front patio but they only had a few tables and none were available. The menu has a pretty good variety without being too overwhelming. I decided on a chimichanga with shredded chicken. I think food came out in about 10-15 minutes! It was so delicious, especially the side of refried beans which were cooked nicely and not too oily. My meal still tasted delicious when I had the other half for leftovers. Love that they have complimentary chips and salsa! And of course had to get horchata to wash it all down. Service was nothing spectacular and we had to flag someone down to finally get the check but again it did seem like a busy night. After 4 years from my first review, Tres Hermanas is still my all time favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacto and in the Bay Area (Excluding Mexican restaurants in the SF mission). Service is always top-notch. I love their Mexican rice, crispy chicken tacos and their salsa. I wish they would upgrade their chips by making them in house and deep fried but with the volume of business they do I think it would be cost prohibitive for them to make their chips in house. All In all a solid choice for authentic Mexican food in midtown Sacramento. I still love it even after four years later since my first review. read more

Corina and I hadn't been out for lunch for months so to make it special we came to one of our favorite restaurants, Tres Hermanas. This is the location of my very first Yelp review many years ago. We arrived early at 11:00 as on weekend lunch is packed with people. I had the albondigas soup and it was as great as ever with a small salad. The avocado dressing is wonderful. We got an order of bean dip to share and Corina ordered the chiles relleno plate. She loved it! We both had ice cold Medelos. Our food was perfect as was the service and they both always have been. 8/1/25 I know I'm behind on this but here it is , Review Time Since in town for a convention and friends visiting from indonesia that wanted good Mexican food we needed a good spot to eat out and yelp didn't disappoint on this gem. Cool little spot in midtown sac. It was a Friday night and we had a party of 8. We were greeted immediately and was told about a 45min wait, we were willing to wait. So we went to the bar and got some drinks to start. Jared the Bartender was awesome and really took care of us. We were able to find a few seats in the bar area and a couple of us stood no biggie. Vibe was great and place was definitely popping for a Friday night . Soon enough we were seated outside which was really nice and it was nice out . Shane was our server for the evening and he was great. Really took care of us. We ordered some chips and fresh guacamole to start was delish. As seen in pic pretty good size menu. For dinner me and wifey split The Al Pastor plate (see pic) Corn tortillas. We both enjoyed very much. Very good flavor and tender . According to everyone else they all really enjoyed their food. I love Tres Hermanas. I've been to all three and they all have consistent, delicious food and drinks. Everything is authentic. You can usually tell how good a Mexican spot is by their salsa. If you are seeking a good Mexican restaurant in Midtown, this is the place! Old house that has been converted, with a nice outdoor patio on the street, and cool interior with a bar. Parking is on the street, which isn't really an issue. Our server was great throughout the evening. They provide the customary chips and salsa (the salsa was good and spicy!). A margarita will run you $12-$15 as of this posting. Food: We started with house salads, which is basically lettuce with some dices tomatoes and a cilantro dressing. Ok, but could be elevated a bit more. The beef chimichanga was pretty big, and came with red sauce, a good heaping of guac, and sour cream. The meat was seasoned nicely and was quite tasty. It is served with rice and beans. I had the chicken enchilada, and chili relleno plate with rice and beans. The enchilada was good, but the poblano in the relleno was really tough and required a knife to cut through it. That's unfortunate because the overall flavor of the relleno was great. San Diego has some of the best Mexican food so this really caught my attention. Tres Hermanas lives up to the hype! You walk in and you feel like you're in an authentic Mexican restaurant.
